when do feet stop growing

You've still got a LOT to go, sorry to say... boys growth doesn't completely stop until they are out of their teens. I remember my mom having to buy new jeans every 3 months for my brother between the ages of 13- 16 or so. He slowed way down but continued to put on at least an inch or so per year until his second year of college!! He also filled out a lot- went from really tall and scrawny in HS to tall and built in college.

My nephew is 15 and is showing no signs of slowing down- he wears a mens size 15 shoe, and just hit 6'2". :scared1: His older brother is a junior in college and just stopped getting taller about a year ago.

Yeah, I thought as much. I just hope the pace slows somewhat. Monthly shoe purchases are . I can not see them growing as fast (the feet, that is, lol) Or else we are in for it. :lmao:

Christian (15) is in his 6th pair of shoes in 12 months. He has grown 5 inches this year and shows no signs of stopping. He's gonna be at least as big as his 24yo brother (6'1", size 13 shoe)

Do feet ever stop growing? I was a 7 in high school, an 8 in college, an 8.5 all through my 20's and early 30's, a solid 9 in my late 30's and am now between a 9 and a 9.5.

I don't think a children's size 3 and women's size 5 are actually that different. I wear a 6.5-7 in women's but I can also wear a 4 in children's. She may not be growing as much as it appears (which is good news for both of you!).

They are the same size. When I was shopping for my DD's Ugg's she was a kids 6 and they were out so they sent me downstairs for a ladies 8. Women's shoes are 2 sizes bigger than their equivalent kids size so 3/5, 4/6, 5/7, 6/8. Whereas boys just move straight from kids to mens.

My daughter is 10 and wears a woman's 8. I wear a 10, my husband a 12. My father wore a 13. We just tell our kids we are sorry, they have no chance of being able to wear the cute/cool shoes.

Mine have shrunk, lol.

I was a good 8 1/2 as far back as I can recall. At 41, I now take an 8, sometimes a 7 1/2. This is a first for me. I think I totally bypassed this size growing up..

I also wanted to add that my dd11's feet DO not EVER grow :confused3 She is in a childs 2, and has been for about 3 years. Very odd. Shoes literally could last year for years, if not for wear and tear. She really is now growing taller either. We have a Ped appt tomorrow, and I have many questions.

It is so odd to have such totally opposite children. My son is mistaken for an 18yr old or more, and my daughter 6 or 7. She gets SOO insulted.

This spring my DS12 went through quite a few size changes in about 8 months. Last fall his school shoes were a Boy's size 5; by the end of the school year he was wearing a Men's size 9 -- equal to his Dad. His new school shoes are 9.5's; DH is very freaked out that the 13 yo has passed him on shoe size. (DS is 5'9" and still 3 inches shorter than DH at this point, but I'm guessing that won't last. We have a lot of freaky tall people on my side of the family, though unfortunately I'm not one of them. <sigh>)

Most girls seem to hit their initial adult shoe size at around age 16; they will normally wear that size for several years after that. Adult feet don't grow, but they do spread -- the ligaments relax and the arches flatten a bit, which causes the size to change. Pregnancy causes many women to change shoe size permanently. I wore a 7.5 when I left high school, moved up to an 8 in my late 20's, and up to an 8.5 after my first child. After my second, I sometimes wear a 9, but it depends on the shoe.

Mine stopped for a good long time when I stopped getting taller, in my early teens.

And then I had foot reflexology done in my later 20s, and went through some excruciating pain in my feet, and suddenly realized that my feet were a half size bigger.

They grew while I was pregnant, but have shrunk down just a bit from there. but I wear mainly athletic shoes now, and the styles I wear are always sized so you have to go up a size or even more...if I got pretty dress shoes they'd probably be closer to what I wore in my later 20s post-reflexology.

I was just thinking about this. DS14 is into a Men's size 11, and I HOPE HOPE HOPE he is just about done. He is almost 6 feet as well. When does this stop? He seems to be still growing, as his school uniform pants are getting short.

One of the reasons men tend to be taller is that they generally grow for a longer period of time than women do. They can grow taller well into college. To think of how men can change, I always think of Anthony Michael Hall, and how he changed. He was 17 when Breakfast Club came out and was so small and scrawny-looking...and think of how he looks now as a truly grown man.

I have one child who I sometimes wonder if she will ever make it to women's sizes (I know she will, sooner or later, I hope..). She is 12 and was a little kids 13 for 3 years, just moved in to a 1 this year. She's also 4'7" and 67 pounds, though, so small all around..

My daughter will be 11 in a few days and she is in a size 2 shoe still...she has friends her age that wear 8 1/2 womens!! My daughter is about the same weight as you daughter but she is 4'10" now--she grew 3 inches since the summer...I bought her all new pants for school the end of August and had to just buy her all new pants again last week because the others were to short already. She has a friend that will be 12 next month and weighs 48 pounds and is only 4'4" and wears the same size shoe as my daughter.
I sure hope puberty is not when they stop growing because my daughter is well into puberty! I would hate for her to be full grown at 4'10"!!

technically they do slow down by about 15 but they never stop growing, just like your ears never stop growing.

Some of the size changes can be blamed on different brands of shoes too. Some brands run smaller than others.

your right they aren't much different.. my 10 yr old is in a 3 and I wear a 6 and I can just about fit in her shoes.. she has always had small feet I dont think they are going to get much bigger...

I'm hoping my DS16 stops real soon he is 6'3 and wears a size 14 shoe. It's so hard for me to find shoes for him. And when I do they usually cost me an arm and a leg.

Are we related? You are seriously the only other person EVER I have heard with a child like this! Everyone routinely thinks my 10 year old is older, as she is taller, filled out more, etc. My dd12 keeps telling me that Catie needs to STOP GROWING so she can catch up, but thus far it doesn't seem to be working... LOL. Poor kid, she looks about 8 and can easily wear size 6x shorts all summer as long as they are the longer styles.

Well I am not sure if my feet have stopped growing yet (I am 19) but around my sophomore-junior year of high school my feet jumped from a women's 8 to a 9. I have a feeling that they will still grow. I think I have grown since high school though, I started out the year between 5'3 and 5'4 and recently when I wore crutches for a couple weeks they had to use the 5'5 setting, so maybe I did grow a bit (I'm hoping so).

As for the Uggs situation, they do run big. I had to get a smaller size in my Uggs, and they fit just right. They stretch, so they're supposed to fit snugly.

I have never understood the whole I'm not buying Uggs until their feet stop growing. It is what they want, but a 1/2 or size bigger and let them have them for Christmas. I mean we buy bikes and other things they are going to outgrow either physically or mentally within a year or so, why not Uggs???:confused3

Really? I could never comfortably wear shoes that were too big for me.

Since the Uggs are fur lined it didn't bother either of my girls. I think we got them 1/2 size bigger. Plus, you can add socks if you want or wear without. With other shoes this wouldn't work and it would be uncomfortable and might cause blisters, etc., but my oldest actually prefers her Uggs to be lose. Also, I don't mean buy them so big they flop or want to fall off, etc.
