When do daughters drop the attitude?

She's nine...it's only just begun. God help me. Then her teacher has the nerve to tell me DD is so sweet and that she has to coax DD to speak louder. WHAT?

I was like that. Quiet and nice at school...a terror at home!

I started to shape up around 16.

My DD is 21 and is way improved over what she was as a preteen and teen, but still has fits of attitude. Of course so do I.

OMG, I could have written that original post myself! My dd just turned 9 in Dec., and the attitude....I just don't even know how to describe it. I get the same thing from teachers and other parents "Kirstin is just a joy to have around, she's always so sweet and full of energy". "Kirstin is so helpful" WHAT???? I had to ask her 25 times yesterday to put away her clean laundry! Guess all the helpfulness gest used up at school

I am almost 40 and I still pull the attitude with my Mother. But in my defense, she still treats me like I am 13 so it seems only fair.

That's funny. I just got a call from a friend and I asked her when girls stop "whining" (I actually said something I can't print here). She said "um, have you stopped?"

This is funny. Your DD and my DD could be friends. I told her I was going to bring her to the Doctors to get her ears checked. LOL.

Still waiting - my oldest is 15.

She's a good kid but has that attitude sometimes - as all teenagers do. Drives us all batty but we adore her anyway. I'm young enough to remember acting like that too. DD10 is following in the footsteps and has attitude days as well. Add that to DS20months starting the terrible 2's early and we have a fun house! Poor DH.

my dd almost 16 but when she was 12 OH MY GOODNESS!!! she was on a rampage one day and dh and i looked at each other and she came over to us and said "yeah I'm premenstrual" and went to her room and slammed the door.

That's my experience. I was surprised at how strict my daughters were with their kids. My granddaughter is 19 and she seems to be shaping up well without kids, which is good since I don't know if I'm ready to be a ggf yet. My grandson is back in Iraq for another year and I'm sure he and his wife won't have any kids until he knows he can be home.

When do they drop the attitude? When they're about...oh, 30. And every once in a while, it will still rear its ugly head.

And no, I'm not the mother; I'm the daughter! (Yep, I admit it )

That's exactly what i am going through, except a different suitation, i have to play the Mommie and Nana role, so right now i am going through pure H---. The 14 yr old rebells against me, and now the 9 yr' old is starting to have a smart mouth.
I totally understand what they are going through, i try my Best to help them, but i cannot be a mommie and a nana.
They are great girl's, and it took me awhile to realize that this is how the 14 yr olds act, God i will be glad when this stage is past, Wow, hard.
I've thought about walking out and letting their dad get a nanny, but i love them to much. Maybe time will heal and things will get better, i hope.
Anyone have any ideas, i'm open.

Daughters never drop that tude... but after marriage they direct most of it at their husband.
