pacifier???
I seen this little girl today at mandy's school that was bigger than cassie & had one..
I don't remember cassie having one...
I know neither of my girls had one past 2 years old..

DD was about 14 months old and we threw it away and told her it was lost.

Now DS is 16 months old and we give it to him way too much. I believe it is time to ween him away from this habit!!

With the twins we got rid of them at age 2 exactly.
With my younger one I was a bit lazier about it & he was probably 2 1/2.

Sara was 26 months old. She didn't want to be away from it either. She didn't mind letting go of that bottle, but that pacy was a different thing!

Dakota didn't like the pacy. The bottle was a little more difficult (but he was weaned by 12 months ).

My boys only used a pacifier for a couple months, if even that. They gave them up on their own, so I never had to take it away!

James was never much of a pacifier baby. Sarah on the other hand was hooked on hers. She could even do tricks with it. We would put it in her mouth upside down and she would flip it over. For some reason we took great amusement in that.

Anyway, when my sister had her 3rd baby (Sarah was 2 years old), we told Sarah that the new baby would need pacifiers and asked her if she want to give hers to her cousin. Sue helped her wrap up all the pacifiers in a box with pretty paper. My sister opened the box and thanked Sarah for her generous gift. On the drive home from my sister's house, Sarah asked for her pacifier. Sue reminded her that she had given them all to baby Gabriel. She seemed to be OK with that and, from that point forward, never needed her pacifier again.

Of course, we didn't wrap up ALL the pacifiers. Just in case Sarah had a meltdown. But we never needed it.

Both the boys stopped on their own, Brad at 2 wks and Ryan at 3 mos.

Both kids gave it up during the day first, but kept it for a little longer at bed time. Its awful to say, but I forget. Im pretty sure both were totally done well before age 2.

I babysit a five and a half year old girl who still uses one! She loves her pacifiers. She always sleep with it still to this day, and likes to suck on it when she watches TV. The dad has been taking them away, but then the mother just keeps giving them back to her. The mom does not want to deal with the girl crying for them. This mother has a hard time saying "no", and it shows.

I kind of wish my son had used a pacifier. He was a thumb sucker and every once in a while when I check on him at night he has it in his mouth (he's 8).

My neice just gave hers up; she'll be 3 in January. My sister had her call me and tell me all about it. She said "Aunie (that's without a T) my bink fell in the potty." I said "Oh no Maddi, what did you do?" "Daddy make me throw it in the trash...Bye, Bye bink." I tried so hard not to laugh, but she just sounded so sad. I reassured her that she was such a big, brave girl and that I was proud of her. Her first night without it was rough, but she's doing great now.

But my mom could!! She hated them!! So about 15 months for both Cassie and Tyler..they went to Grandma's and spent the night...and Grandma lost it!!!!!

Cassie was actually mad(i swear..if a 15 month old can express anger..she was!!).

But...it made her look like the bad guy..and me and DH got a night out!!!

Myy dd is 5 1/2, and I was so proud that she didn't need a pacifier! AT 8 weeks, after I took the little hand socks off, she found her thumb and to this day, she sucks her thumb. I have tried to get her to stop, and even asked the dentist on ways to prevent her, but nothing has worked.

Oh, well, I guess everyone needs a safety net, and hers is her thumb.

Hunter gave hers up in the day very early but liked it at nighttime until she was almost 3. We wrapped it up and left it for Santa to take. I don't know why we did it like that really, but I remember she didn't want to give it up.
I remember cutting off the end of it so it wouldn't work right and she said, "A hole!" then she popped that thing into her mouth and said, "Still works!"

My sister got her pacifier "lost" in the woods when she was 2 1/2. She was so attached to it, but it was time for it to go.

My son never took one. For that matter, he didn't take a bottle until he was nearly 6 months old. He was breastfed and wanted only the "real thing" in his mouth.

But if he wanted one, I wouldn't have pushed him to give it up if he didn't want to until he was 3 or 4.

It's JMHO, but I don't believe in pushing babies to do anything they're not ready for. After all, no one goes to college with diapers on, sucking a pacifier and drinking a bottle.

Caitlyn's was gone before her 2nd birthday. They kept getting lost, and finally the last one disappeared one day. When DH found it, he threw it away before she saw it. Chloe doesn't want one, except to play with in her hands. A couple times Caitlyn has taken one and tried to hide it, but we've always caught her trying to sneak away. At 2 1/2 she doesn't sneak very well!

DD gave hers up when she was around 14 mos. old - DS, on the other hand didn't let go until he was almost 2.5 yrs. old! He loved his "nippy". He would do tricks with it and somehow managed to go full-fledge conversations with the darn thing lodged in his mouth!

He went cold turkey giving it up - but just about 2 years ago I found a couple of pacifiers stashed in odd drawers, etc. (DS is now 14!!) We had a good laugh about it - don't know if he or I was the stashee!!
