When did you stop doing Easter Baskets?

My kids are 19 and almost 16 and still get a basket. The same one they've had since they were little.
I don't know when I will stop, maybe if they have kids.

I make a basket and fill it with books, movies, games, gift cards, cookies and very little candy. I give my son (13yrs) clues where to find the basket. Afterwards we sit down and have a tea party while DH reads Peter Rabbit.



I purchased two of these tea sets while visiting UK Lake Windermere. They were purchased years before my son was born.

The grandparents do an egg hunt for those 12 and under, the older grandkids help hide them. The eggs have change in them, the older kids get a gift card, everyone (adult children and spouses too) gets a basket of candy.
At home, we stopped baskets at 10. No candy. But we usually put a little cash in a card and leave it on the table for them to find at breakfast.

I have two younger kids (11) and older DD (20) still lives at home, they all get "baskets." (I use different things year to year.) What I've been doing on holidays for older DD is give her things she'll need for her own home. This year her basket is a canvas Disney Studios tote (she does lots of little road trips). She's getting a silverware set for 8, Corelle dessert bowls to go with the Corelle dishes she got for Christmas and a collapsible colander for over the sink. For "fillers" (like you would do jump rope, bubbles etc for little kids) I have bag clips, corn holders and a citrus peeler. I can't imagine ageing her out unless she asked me to.

Oh, I also bought the "2003 Longaberger Easter basket" which is the year he was born for his Easter hunt. It's a perfect size for not going too crazy when filling up!

DS is 37, DD 34 and DDIL 39
And the grandkids of course get them.

I agree!

I love seeing the different things kids get over the years - it is true that there is no need to stop the baskets altogether...I just wasn't thinking creatively enough now that my kids are older!

Never!! My kids are adults and I still do Easter baskets. Granted the contents have changed over the years. I never thought of Easter baskets as purely kid stuff. My mom (she's been gone five years and I still miss her so much) always gave us all baskets. Mine had things like dish towels, etc along with candy. I think of them as the same as Christmas stockings. Never stopped them either. I guess it's just the way different people were brought up and how you celebrated holidays. No right or wrong way, Just enjoy!!

Meh, size means nothing, I just pile it around if it doesn't fit. I admit I have an Easter Basket/Stocking stuffer problem. Every year I think I've pulled back then I get in my closet to put them together and find myself thinking, "when the heck did I buy those?"

Oh, I bought each of my kid's lap desks because they're always stealing mine!

My two dd's will each get one. They are 23 and 40. DS, 44, won't. He is married and living in Tampa. But my 23 y/o dd lives in Clermont, Fl and will get hers in the mail. The 40 y/o will get her's in person.
I think I enjoy putting them together more than the girls enjoy getting them!!

My boys are 21 and 23 and I am pretty sure that I will always make them baskets. Yesterday I was putting their baskets together to see what I else I may need/want to get. They get lots of candy, all of their favorites and some gum. They are also getting a couple t-shirts, gym shorts and socks. I always get them a pair of sunglasses so they always have a spare set as well as some fun thing to use outside on Easter afternoon. Then I add a few gift cards; local bowling alley, burger place and gas cards.

My husband is getting his favorite candy, cream soda in glass bottles and a Dunkin Donuts gift card.

I make one for my 74 year old Mom too. I put in some of her favorite snacks and odds and ends that I pick up throughout the year that I think she will enjoy.

My niece (29) and nephew and his wife (30 and 31) receive baskets with small household items, health and beauty items and a few small candies.

My Grand niece ( 2 1/2) will get no candy or food items, but a Disney play set.

I love giving gifts to my family so I doubt I will ever stop!

My sons are 25, 23 & 23 and I still make then Easter baskets. I have no plans on stopping. I will play it by ear as the years progress. I still put bubbles and a pin wheel in them for laughs. We put scratch tickets in, some candy (there has to be a chocolate bunny & jelly beans), maybe a t-shirt, socks or a new video game they want. It's evolved as they've grown.

We're still all living under the same roof so it is easy enough to give the baskets to them. We'll see what happens when we all go our separate ways. Grandchildren will change things, too.

My boys are almost 18 and 21. Just finished up their baskets and actually gave the 21 year old his early when he was home from college.

My boys have outgrown their baskets, so I go to publix every year and buy 2 of their Easter reusable bags and use those as baskets.

My boys are getting southern marsh shorts (their favorite), Patagonia tees, polo swim trunks, gift cards, some toiletries, and some really nice candy.

My 21 year old said this year was his favorite Easter basket so far . No plans to ever stop!

We just do candy in our baskets, I usually just get a small chocolate bunny each, a few 3-packs of Peeps and a bag of Reese's eggs or something to get divied up. It is my DH, me and my mom. We've had the same baskets for years. This year we'll be out of town, not sure how mom is going to handle not getting her basket of candy, she usually gives it up for lent and is really jonesing for chocolate by then.

There ya go! I use to put money & lego minifigures and skipped the candy. Some candy is fine just not a lot for my guy.
