When did you stop carrying a change of clothes?

We're headed back to WDW this summer with my boys, ages 8 and 6. In the past I have always carried a full change of clothes for each of them in the parks. The last time we brought them the youngest had just turned 4, and was a messy eater and had the (extremely rare) accident. It made sense to me back then to bring extra clothing, and it came in handy a few times. However, they are bigger now, and this year I would like to travel a little lighter. When were you comfortable not bringing a change of clothes?

I stopped bringing clothes for my older one once she hit 4. I imagine we'll do the same for the younger one.

IMO- Its better to be safe than sorry. Each of my girls (12, 10, and 7) are bringing a small crossbody bag with a light outfit (tank/cotton stretch shorts rolled up small in a ziplock) just to be safe.. heck I may even pack a change of clothes for DH and I as well.. I can't stand wet clothes!

I stopped carrying extra clothes when they were 5. Of course that was the trip de needed them. Seriously I can't imagine kids as old as yours needing them.

I only carry an extra outfit for the baby, and I have 5 children ages 10 and under, so never past 2.5. A messy outfit from eating isn't the end of the world. Messy diaper blow-outs (or potty training accidents) are really the only reason I'd want to have a change of clothes with me.

If you're staying off-site and driving in, you can keep an extra outfit in the car.

Mine are 10 and 3.

I still carry a change or 2 for my 3 year-old. I will still be carrying a change for both children when we visit Epcot and for 1 of our MK days because of the water play areas each of those parks have. We haven’t been to the Casey Jr. one at MK yet, but last June both my children got soaked playing in the one at Epcot. But the 10 year-old carries her own change in her park bag. If we ever go again outside the summer, I won't need extras for my older child.

I carry extra clothes in the summer as my girls (7 and 5) get wet anywhere they can when hot. They are girls so extra clothes consists of lightweight dresses and I typically have a bag for sunblock/cameras anyway.

Last trip was the first time I have not carried spare clothes. My youngest was 5 at the time. I haven't carried extra for my 8 year old since he was close to 5, either.

I would stop taking extra clothes when I started having to actually carry them rather then leave them in the bottom of a stroller.

So I still took them for my son who turned 5 on our last trip.

We did the same. And in the event you do need a shirt or something due to a messy lunch, dropped ice cream bar, ..... there is always someplace to buy one (we may have had to do that once or twice )

Last year when DS was 4 we brought a change of clothes and a stroller into the parks with us. We didn't need to use them (he did hop into the stroller a few times) so this summer when we go we won't be bringing a change of clothes or a stroller with us.

Wow, that is wonderful. At that age both of my kids might go through 4 changes of clothes a day.

I am going to bring a change of clothes for my boys (7 and 4). It is an exciting place, and they might get so wrapped up that they have an accident. I figure better safe than sorry.

At home, I don't bring clothes along anymore (stopped when both were consistently using the bathroom), but I do have spare underwear for each stowed in my car.

I never really carried a change of clothes around once I quit caring a diaper bag with bottles etc. I always had the mindset that I could buy an outfit if I had too. I did carry just a pair of underwear around for a while after they were potty trained as underwear can be harder to find than an outfit for small children.

When they were potty trained. Our trips have mostly been in the hot months and getting wet from water rides is pretty refreshing.

We've always taken spares for both DDs - acts like an insurance policy - if we take a change of clothes they never need it but you can guarantee that the times we don't are the days someone might tip a cup of milk, etc down their front.
To cut down now they're getting bigger I think we'll just take one outfit, suitable for both of them (they're just under two years apart) so maybe that could be an option for your boys?

When they were potty-trained and accident-free. For my oldest, there was a big gap in his trips (we didn't go between him being 2 and 5) so I did have some when he was 2 but not at 5. For my youngest, I probably quit carrying a change when he turned 4. We always make sure to stop to use the restroom often and everyone goes, especially before we get in a long line for something.

I figure if we have a spill or something, either we'll deal with it until we get back to the room for a break at mid-day, or we'll buy a t-shirt.

I always carry a change if clothes for my DD: we never go to the parks without an extra change of clothes. You never know when you will need them. This year we are driving in so we will be leaving the extra change of clothes in the van.
