When did you realize that Disney ruined you for anyplace else?

I would have to say Feb 1995. The first time I took DS7 and DD2 there for 2 days (1 - MK and 1 - Epcot). We were moving my sister and family back to NY. I said that there is no way I am going to the state of Florida without going to Disney. Since then I have been back 8 times. Took my now DH for his first trip in 2000. He fell in love with the place. In 2003 we celebrated our 2nd Anniversary down there without children. That's when we looked into DVC and bought. In 2004 we brought DS16, DD11, DDbestfriend, SIL, MIL, FIL (none of the in laws had ever been), had a really great time. DS went there on his senior class trip. We are all disneyholics!!!

We do plan on using out DVC points for other vacations when we get older!! But for now Disney is what we love.

I have to laugh at the people who say that "it's not for them anymore", and I have one question for you, why are you on this disboard then? (boy I can see some flames for that question) I mean this is all about Disney. And I firmly believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions. And if I have hurt anyones feelings with my opinion then I am truly sorry.

And as of right now my second favorite vacations were to NYC and Washington DC. Great places with a lot of history. :flower3: pixiedust:

Our first time was in 84' when the boys were 8 and 5 yo's and there was only MK and Epcot. We returned in in 96' with the boys and our new daugther. We bought into DVC then, and have been going back every year since. Now, both boys are married, both have honeymooned there on our DVC points. Last year we took our currently only, grandson for his first trip to Disney for MNSSHP and are going back this summer for his second trip. DD who will graduate from H.S. this summer has already planned that her honeymoon will be at Disney, the groom will have no choice in this matter!

My DW and I have taken several trips to Disney by our selves. It's the only place both of us can "relax and have a true fun vacation time". We reserve all of our vacation time solely for Disney. It is truely a magical place where dreams can come true!

The first time I went to Six Flags New England after going to Disney. I finished the entire park in about 90 minutes and was wondering why I EVER went there at all :confused3 . Almost $40 per person to get in was a shocker. It definately redefined my cost/benefit decisions! In light of that I can NEVER complain about the cost of Disney ticketing again! :teeth:

I went to Disney for a few times as a child and loved it. Then my brother and new wife went on their honeymoon in 1994. They raved about it and we've all been going every year (except for 1998 when my dad fell from a ladder and broke both ankles). There just isn't any place that offers as much for the price - absolutely no comparison. We went to Germany with my husband (on a business trip) back in Nov. and while it was a trip of a lifetime, I jokingly asked him where the "Epcot Germany" was. I have thought about compiling a photo album showing how my son has "grown up at Disney." He and my nephew have a legacy tile at Disney and love finding it on every trip. It may sound corny, but Disney has helped our family to grow closer. Everywhere I go, I compare to quality, price, safety, and most especially the magic and nothing compares.

I wouldn't say Disney "ruined" me, but I have a bad habit of holding other theme parks I go to up to WDW standards. Like when I went to Six Flags in NJ or Busch Gardens in VA (which was a lot better than Six Flags). Both times I just kept thinking about my upcoming trip to WDW... I just can't help myself.

We were ruined after our first trip as well. My husband got the bright idea one year that it would be cheaper to go to Myrtle Beach rather than Disney :rolleyes2 I kept trying to tell him the overall cost would not be cheaper. He said...it's only sand and family. Yeah right. The hotel was more than what we would have paid onsite. The food was not much off in price, but my son developed a love for putt putt golfing. That was all he wanted to do. We never reached the beach. Can you imagine golfing all day for a family of 3? We would have actually SAVED money by going to WDW.

I also was ruined shortly after our first trip. Everything has ruined me from the great service, to the cleanliness of the hotels, to not having to drive anywhere. I can never step foot in another amusment park type of resort without comparing it to disney and it is such a hard thing to live up to. Oh, well I've come to terms with it and I'll just keep going back to Disney instead!

I realized Disney ruined anywhere else for me when I was only 6 (i'm 13 right now) We went to Six Flags in Dallas, TX. I had been going to WDW eversince I was 10months old. It was my favorite place in the world (As is any other 6 year old girls fav place). Anyways I was expecting to have Disney Quality day or atleast A LOT of fun. It was terrible, I remember telling my mom that Disney world is WAAAY better! Eversince then when I go to some type of entertainment park/show/place I try to remind myself IT IS NOT GONNA BE LIKE DISNEY! Otherwise I'm so bummed! I love WDW and I don't care if it ruined everywhere else for me because I know where my real home is now! =D
