We joined in March of 1992. Never had any regrets. In fact I think the money we saved on park passes for the first 8 years pretty much paid for the initial investment.
We joined in 94 after staying at Westgate. We liked the villas there, but the salesstaff were the typical timeshare people from a very hot place. We toured DVC and asked if we could wait a few months and it was not a problem. So we started with 220 and now we have 770.
We joined in December of 2001 on a cash visit to Hilton Head. I don't think I could have convinced DH to buy DVC if we had not both fallen in love with the Hilton Head resort.
I still remember back in 1997 when I was planning our first visit to Disneyworld and I was in our local Disney store. I saw a little brochure on DVC. I remembered thinking that only "rich" people could afford it. It's almost like a dream to be a DVC owner today. I'd love to add-on a few more points one day but I am so grateful for the points that we have.
Feb of 1999 after my sister had us down in a GV at OKW in 97.Now 4 members of our family are DVC members. We started with 230 and now have 600............and luckily only the dues payment.
January of this year,as many of you know I jumped in with both feet, sight unseen for 1220 points.
Went down for the first time in May and immediatly knew we made the right decision. We have been down twice now and have 3 more trips planned in the next 11 months.
So happy I checked this board last November planning our September trip.
Lots of nice people here, also a few jerks.............

2002 for us. I was only in 9th grade when they were offering the DVC tours. I remember being down at MGM (the first year it opened) and my family being offered the tour. They passed it up, I guess, assuming it was just "another" timeshare pitch. Now, DH and I own 150 points at Vero. I was thinking about maybe adding on at SSR but we'd have to finance and I don't know if DH would want too. It wouldn't be a stretch financially but DH wants to be completely debt free. Can't say that I blame him. I want to be completely debt free too but someone tell me PLEASE that DVC doesn't count!!
