When did you first experience WDW?

July 1972. Magic Kingdom was a mere 9 mos. old. Of course it rained, and being from the North, it looked as if it rained on one side of main street and not the other.

Came back 10 yrs later as an adult and was introduced to Space Mountain and Epcot.

10 yrs after that brought our children for the first time at ages 9 and 5 and to this date (including this Christmas) will be there 18th trip in 9 yrs and my husbands and mine 25th.

Each time around the corner, just as the castle comes into view, is the same. My heart swells, my stomach jumps and my eyes mist. I am in my "happy place".

First trip March 1980 (I was 15)when it was just the MK we rushed thru it because dad wanted nothing to do with it he hates crowds and amusment parks(bad people hang out there-EEK)but mom somehow got him to agree to go. The first REAL Disney expiierence was March 1986 when I was 21 went with my now ex husband. I've been back 17 times since and raising dd(almost 5) in the same way she's been 4 times already! Trying to plan for next year but I just bought my 1st house over the weekend so don't know that we'll be able to swing next years trip. Where there's a will there's a way..if you can dream it you can do it:Pinkbounc

The first time I visited WDW was 30 (!!!!) years ago. I was in college and was visiting a classmate who lived on the Gulf Coast (terrible--i can't remember the name of the town he lived in!). Anyway, we had one very rushed day in the Magic Kingdom, but it was enough for me to fall in love with The Haunted Mansion and The Pirates of the Caribbean attractions.

The next two times were also day trips..once with my parents and then one 5 years ago with a friend who lives in Orlando.

The BEST trip was in the beginning of Sept. 2001. My husband and I spent Sept. 5-10 at WDW, staying at POR. The crowds in the park were non-existant and I got to go through the Haunted Mansion and Pirates od the Caribbean to my hearts content. We also loved Epcot, MGM and Animal Kingdom. It was truly a wonderful week. We're from NJ and flew into Newark late on Sept. 10, 2001. Both of us commented on how beautiful the NYC skyline looked as we approached the airport. Of course, the next morning, the world changed horribly.

I look back on that week in WDW being fear-free and filled with happiness. I'm hoping that we can go back again sometime in the next year of two
