I remember some posts earlier in Nov that mentioned they had Christmas decorations up...any one know when they change from normal stuff to christmas stuff? we want to go before the christmas stuff time but after oct. is there any time in Nov. without decorations?

Holiday Decorations at WDW
They start the day after Thanksgiving and taken down Jan 2nd of the next year.

hmmm, i seem to recall a few weeks ago some had posted they were up already since they were disappointed they were up so long. anyone go this yr and know when they went up?

Our first park was on Nov, 17th. All parks had decorations and trees up.

We stayed at AKL. On Nov. 21st, decorations were not up there. On the morning of Nov. 22nd, the trees and decorations were up.

We were at Epcot on 11-12-05, over Veteran's Day Weekend, and for the last weekend of the Food & Wine Festival, and some decorations were already up.

Believe it - we were there the last part of August....and they were already starting with the Osbourne lights!

We were there October 29-Nov4 and they had put up most of the lights MGM and the tress and wreaths at Magic Kingdom.

When I went to the 1900 Park Fair because I wanted to see Suzy and Perla I noticed that the hotel had some Christmas stuff put up allready. This was before Thansgiving so I am thinking when I do my character meal with Suzy and Perla on the 11th of December that there will be lots of Christmas stuff put up.

We were at WDW Nov 6-12 and there were lots of decorations up already. The only thing I saw lit at night though was the tree in MK near the castle.

We went in November 03, it was aprox the 9 -13,we stayed at All Star Sports. While we were there they put up the decorations at the resort, but I don't remember seeing any at the parks. (Maybe I just wasn't looking though)

DH and I were at MK on 11/1 - when we came back on 11/3 decorations were up on Main Street. The tree at AK was also up when we visited on 11/4 and they were playing Christmas music already!

We were there 9/17-9/24 and there were already many lights strung up at MGM (not illuminated, but very obvious) -- the giant swags of angels, etc. going across the streets. The backlot tour guy says it takes 3 months to put them up and 3 months to take them down.

Don't know when they officially "switch" them on, though, and I saw nothing in the other parks.

We were there from Nov. 16th through the 26th and they were all up. I remember three years ago in Nov....they just sort of all appeared it seem over night Thanksgiving week. I think they did it much earlier this year.

WDW is so huge that they have to start putting up the Christmas decorations in August or September if they want to have any prayer of finishing for the Christmas season. But they start with the "less noticeable" parts first (like resort gift shops) and end with the "most noticeable" (like the parks themselves). Places like the resort lobbies and park shops and DTD are in between.

In past Novembers (I usually visit mid November before Thanksgiving week), I NEVER saw Holiday decorations in the parks themselves (the garland across Main Street and Christmas trees in the parks). I have seen window displays at the park shops (like the Emporium) with holiday themes on my prior November trips. But never decorations outside the parks. The garland and the tree were up at the MK as early as Nov 5. An earlier poster said they showed up Nov 3.

It's looking like you can't go after October and not see Christmas decorations. As soon as the last MNSSHP is over, the garland comes out. You might get a couple of days at the very beginning of November, but that's it.

I'm hoping it doesn't carry to next year. I don't mind the Christmas decorations so much but that darn garland blocks my view of the castle from the head of Main Street.

DH and Iwent last in November 2003. We were there the first full week of the month. Part way through the week decorations were up at POR. I don't recall seing any at the parks, but I wasn't really looking for them. They have to start early considering how much they have to put up. This past Sunday I watched the new Disney special on the Food Network. It was about the holidays at Disney. It gives you insite into how much they have to do and how early they start a lot of it behind the scenes. I believe it is on again Wednesday night at 8:00 and I know they will rerun it severl times. You should check it out. Check foodnetwork.com for rerun times.

I was there October 15-22 and MGM already had a large amount of the Osborne family lights up. Not lit at night, but there were quite ugly during the day! :rotfl2:

I was there Nov 10th thru Nov 20th. I saw trees and stuff up during first part of trip but nothing really stood out until after i got back from cruise and it seemed as if things had exploded into high drive the 4 days i was gone.

thanks for all the help. does any know if the shows change over that early? i kind of thought the same about pictures but maybe you could work around them. we used to go in early dec. and i think the shows were all christmas by then so i am guessing after thanksgiving is when the do the shows over?
