We are going to Orlando in Jan 2015 and I am wondering if the crowds may have died down a bit by then after the expansion opening.
Does anyone know when the original park opened and approx how long it took for the mobs to thin out!!

I realise that this is hard to predict but considering we are travelling 30 hours each way to get there I would love to try and maximise our time at HP World.

TIA :)

June of 2010. I don't believe they have died down yet. That area is so small it just always seems crowded. My family is very excited about the expansion. We are going next Thanksgiving (2014) and will just plan to hit WWoHP early in the day.

June 2010 and in that secction of the park the crowds are still the heaviest compared to the rest of the park.We are going back in December 2014 and I am expecting heavy crowds, at least in those 2 sections of the parks

It depends on when you go. Mid-late Jan is generally prett slow. Right now the Wizarding World isn't very busy. Yesterday the wait for the main ride was 15 for much of the day.

We went in Nov of 2010 and crowds were very manageable. It wasn't crazy at all and we were even off-site that trip so we didn't have express pass. I agree that the time of the year plays a huge part - summer is going to be crazy busy! During our last IOA trip, 2011, FJ was a 15 minute wait when we arrived and was down to as low as 5 during the day! The stores were crowded in the morning but empty in the early evening. The park closed at 6pm though.

Thanks everyone. I do think it will still be really just but I don't want CRAZY busy IYKWIM?? I was told to wait 12 months after the expansion opened by a travel agent but we can only travel at this particular time. We are planning to go around 17-20 Jan so hopefully it won't be too bad.

Keep in mind lots of folks will be at the Studios visiting Diagon Alley but with Hogwarts Express running between WWoHP and DA, there will be a considerable interest in both areas...many first timers.
