When Did I get Voted Off of Skinny Island #2: Castaway's Land Ho!!!!

Patrick...Amanda stole my joke!! I think I'm jealous that you were able to lose 4 pounds in a week near the end of your journey...I'm not even at the half way point yet and I can't do it. (Still, I don't want to have to exercise the way you do so...I guess I'll just live with the slower, lazier approach. :rotfl2:)

How is the date for homecoming going?? (Well that just sounds wrong. :rotfl2:)

Yeah, that does sound a little wrong.....and not very well atm. Oh well.

Patrick, order me a virgin Pina Colada cause I am on my way!!!

1 Virgin Piña Colada ordered, and made...it's sitting here waiting on you.

Just a quick drive-by post tonight....

School is getting extremely hectic, but I was still down 4 pounds this week! (WOOP WOOP!)

And I've made it a week without diet coke!!!!!!! (WOOOOOOOHOOOO!)

I also spent 3 hours at the gym yesterday (Sunday). Woo!

Alrighty...

night y'all.

9/20/10
Breakfast: cream of wheat, grapefruit, coffee. 6pts
Lunch: turkey, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, fruit. 6pts
Snack: PB & Banana wrap. 7pts.
Dinner: turkey sandwich, garden salad w/ ff italian. 8pts
Total: 27 pts.
Excercise: 3 miles.
Water : 60oz

All in all a good day. No real issues and no complaints.
Yeah! I'm finally starting to notice some mild changes. Clothes are feeling very loose. Tried on a pair of size 12 jeans yesterday and while VERY tight (going to give it another 5-10 pounds before I would wear them), I could get them on. So, I'm pretty happy. Trying not to let myself down and keep up with the challenges!
Patrick - THREE HOURS in the gym! You rock! Someone would have to carry me out of there on a stretcher if I tried that!
Dana - sorry things have been so hard lately. Glad to hear from you again! Keep up the good work! :cheer2:
Amanda and Piper - Hope your stay goes quickly and your back home again soon!
Julie - I'm jealous, you look fab. :woohoo:

Everyone else - HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!!
:woohoo: WE ROCK!

9/20/10 DONE
VEG VERY DONE

Morning! I'm up on the scale right now. Not sure how much exactly b/c I haven't really been working my WW program for the past few weeks, but I'm sure it's at least +3. This bums me out so badly. I feel like i get so close to my goal (within 10 lbs) & I sabotage myself by quitting. What's up with that?

My other problem is that I find myself getting so hungry now that I'm training for my marathon. Any suggestions?? Any? Hello? Buller??

So here's what I think I've eaten the last couple days.

Sunday -
Brkfst - blueberry yogurt, coffee w/creamer
lunch - ate at Chili's after church - I had bowl of chicken & green chili soup w/side salad w/very little ranch dressing, MIL ordered chips & salsa (my weakness) & of course I dove head first into the bowl & ate my way to the bottom
dinner - few pieces deli turkey, pretzel sticks, peppers & ranch
snack - goldfish - lots of them!

Sunday Sept. 19 done
veggies done

exercise - ran 3 miles, walked 3 miles

Monday -
brkfst -blueberry yogurt, coffee w/creamer, half a banana
lunch - few pieces turkey pastrami, oven roasted zucchini & yellow squash
snack - pickled veggies dipped in light ranch, special k fruit crisp
dinner - oven baked chicken parm, I had spaghetti squash w/sauce over it, a small piece of garlic bread - THEN started picking at DS's uneaten pasta w/sauce & ended up eating half of that. I hated myself for that one!:confused3
dessert - sugar free jello pudding (chocolate)

Monday Sept 20 done
veggies done

See? I'm eating A LOT. But I am SO HUNGRY!!! I'm obviously not burning more than I'm consuming b/c I'm gaining weight. HELP!

~bree~

Hi Everyone! I've been gone from this board since May and really want to make an attempt to come back. I've gained back most of the weight that I had lost earlier this year. It has been a rough year -- you name the problem and we have had to deal with it.

My goal for today is to find a gym that I can go to that I can afford. Earlier this year I was going to the Y but at $75 per month (yes that is per month) I can't justify that expense. Not to mention the Y was quite a distance from my house.

There is a Planet Fitness closer to me that is only $10 per month with a $30 yearly fee. Two months at the Y is more expensive that an entire year at Planet Fitness. However before I join I want to see what type of equipment they have and what their place (environment) feels like. I don't want to be in a high pressure gym environment -- which is what I liked about the Y -- its friendly comfortable feel where all people were accepted no matter their size or fitness level.

There is another gym as well that is a little further than Planet Fitness but it is independently owned. Not sure what their prices are. Hopefully one of these two place will work out.

Wish me luck on finding a gym as that is my first step goal for the day.

ski mom - I don't count calories, but I do track what I eat on here. Seems like I lose when I track and maintain/gain when I don't. Maybe start there before worrying about #s of calories or points. Although maybe listening to me is a bad idea...I've only lost 7 pounds!:confused3 I will say that I probably would have gained that much if I wasn't on here at all:thumbsup2

cereal/skim
a few spoons of baked beans (brought the wrong tupperware for lunch:scared1:), 2 servings of laughing cow and rice crackers, 2 mini choc bars
granola bar, cheese stick, veggie chips (starving from weird lunch, had carb attack when I got home)
2 small pieces of pizza, salad with oil/vinegar, 2 pieces chix nubs
9/20 done

I did it! I joined Planet Fitness. Pretty nice facility -- it is fairly new and I have to say it is nicer than the Y. They have all of the same machines as the Y did only more of them AND they have TVs attached to each one which the Y did not have.

Yeah! I did it. First big step done.

I'm not up any lbs., but I've really got to get back on track with my healthier eating. I've just been really slack the last couple of weeks. It's TOM, so I just want to eat crap (not really crap, but crappy food choices). As you can see, yesterday was a McD's day apparently. I couldn't leave the office for lunch, so I was at the mercy of the guys in the warehouse who were nice enough to bring me a Happy Meal. Then, DH brought McD's home for dinner. Did I mention that I don't like McDooDoo's?:confused3

My goal for the next week is to make better food decisions....

Monday, September 20th...
Bfast: McDonald's Breakfast Burrito (300)
Lunch: McDonald's Chicken McNuggets Happy Meal (540)
Dinner: McDonald's Chicken Selects (3pc) Combo (630)

Total Cals: 1470

SEPTEMBER 20TH DONE

Things were mostly okay, but she was quite cranky from not napping. I was tolerating it until she stood just outside the bathroom door, with her panties around her knees, and bent over and watched herself pee on the floor. NOT how I wanted to end my day.

Oh my gosh!! That is too funny. I mean, officially I feel for you but seriously...that made me laugh out loud. No wonder you were happy Monday was almost over.

Dawn and Julie, y'all crack me up! Just the comic relief I needed! Get out there and kick some preggo butt!

Dawn and I are just comfortable speaking the things that other people are thinking. But I'm glad our stand up is helping others make it through the day!! :thumbsup2

And Julie, love the pics!

 Awwww, thanks!!

Congrats to all of this weeks losers!

Julie – the new picture looks fantastic. Is that the mini-stepper thing in the background you mentioned before? That looks like something that I could do. Congratulations on the jogging!! Were you on a treadmill or doing it the old fashioned way? (did that sound bad?)

Ha ha ha. No, it didn't sound bad to me. It IS indeed the mini stepper I was talking about...much less intimidating than those monstrosities at the gym.

I was just jogging laps around my living room. I do have plans to take it on the road with DH on Friday morning. I think we are going to get the kids on the bus and then head out for as long as I can take it.

He's been running lately (a 5K and an 8K so far) so he's been training for months but he's willing to take it slow that day so we can do it together. We're ridiculously excited about it! :dance3:

She can get mail, and she would love that, I'll send you the addy, if you wouldn't mind passing it along to anyone else who'd like it..

 I want the address. I'll send her some mail.

and not very well atm. Oh well.

I'm sorry to hear that. If there's anything we can do...don't hesitate to ask!!

1 Virgin Piña Colada ordered, and made...it's sitting here waiting on you.

Thanks...that's great service!! :rotfl:

And I've made it a week without diet coke!!!!!!! (WOOOOOOOHOOOO!)

Great job...I gave up diet coke once and it was pretty tough at the beginning and then, not so much. I never have it now and I was a serious addict. I know you can do it!!:cheer2:

I also spent 3 hours at the gym yesterday (Sunday). Woo!

Okay, see....that's why I'm not on the beach yet. I think 3 hours would kill me. Keep up the good work.

Julie - I'm jealous, you look fab. :woohoo:

Thanks!! I FEEL fabulous!!

My other problem is that I find myself getting so hungry now that I'm training for my marathon. Any suggestions?? Any? Hello? Buller??

Any chance you could eat a bit more lean protein? I always find that fills me up better than anything else. I'm still looking up recipes for you. I've got one for you right now, in fact.

Turkey Stuffed Cabbage Leaves
POINTS® Value: 5
Servings: 4
Preparation Time: 25 min
Cooking Time: 60 min
Level of Difficulty: Moderate

Garlic and cinnamon add savoury flavour to the filling for this classic Polish recipe.

Ingredients

1 medium head(s) green cabbage
12 oz uncooked ground turkey breast
1/2 cup(s) onion(s), diced
1/2 cup(s) cooked brown rice, regular or instant
1 large egg(s)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp table salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
28 oz canned diced tomatoes
1 cup(s) fat-free chicken broth, reduced-sodium
Instructions
• Remove 8 outer leaves from cabbage and place leaves in a large stockpot. Add enough water to cover and set pan over high heat. Bring water to a boil and boil 10 minutes, until leaves are pliable and soft. Drain and when leaves are cool enough to handle, cut off thickest part of vein from bottom of leaves, leaving leaf intact.
• Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine turkey, onion, rice, egg, garlic powder, cinnamon, salt and black pepper. Mix until well blended.
• Place a small amount of turkey mixture (enough to fit in the palm of your hand) onto centre of each leaf. Fold in sides of leaves and then roll up tightly from one end to other, making sure filling is fully covered by leaf.
• Pour a small amount of tomatoes into bottom of stockpot (enough to cover bottom with a thin layer). Place cabbage rolls in stockpot (pack rolls tightly to prevent opening during cooking) and pour over remaining tomatoes and chicken broth. Set pan over medium-high heat and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover pan and simmer 45 minutes more. Remove from heat and serve hot. Yields 2 stuffed leaves and 1/4 cup of sauce per serving.

Whoops...posted before I was actually done!! :lmao:

That was my first time multi quoting and I think I did pretty well, all things considered. :thumbsup2

Allison: Holy McDonald's overload Batman!! I used to HATE McPuke's and we always went because of the kids but now that they have the chicken snack wraps and yogurt parfaits...it's my favourite place to go. Go figure!! :confused3

Thank goodness today is a new day.

Personal Update:

Put on a pair of jeans yesterday that somehow got missed in the purge. I could totally pull them off without undoing them. I shocked DH at 9:30 pm when I gave him a demonstration. :rotfl: I then changed into a pair of pajamas that are MILES too big but I've been hanging on to because I love them so much. Sadly, they are so big they actually FALL down so they have been relegated to the donation bag (which is getting quite full now!!) in my closet.

The kids start their swimming lessons tonight and they are all kinds of excited about it.

I've had to catch myself AT LEAST a dozen times to keep from spilling the beans about our upcoming trip. DD is already excited about Christmas because she's planning on asking Santa for some special Zhu Zhu pet Pizzaria and fully expects to get it. I can't WAIT to see her face when she finds out we are going to Disney a week later. I'm half afraid I'm building it all up in my head and she'll just be like, "Oh yeah. That's nice."

:laughing::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Amanda – PM me the address and I can send it to anyone else that would like to drop Piper a message. Hmm, I’ll be in WDW in just a short time, maybe I can see if Mickey can drop her a postcard.

Bree – do they still do filling foods on WW? These are foods that have high bulk and make you feel fuller. Of course I can’t remember a single one to give you an example. I’ll see if I can find any of my old materials and give you a list. I do know that if you make the 0 point soup and eat that before meals it used to fill me up.

Allison – Welcome back! I hope one of the gyms you look at fit your needs. It really does have to be a good fit. I’ve belonged to a couple and if you don’t like the feel, you won’t go (no matter how cheap it is).

So far so good today. I woke up early and couldn’t go back to sleep (this time at least it was because I was getting excited about our trip). 11 Days!!! But MAN do I have a lot to do before I’m ready to take off for vacation. I’ve got budgets to prep for my boss so she can review while I’m gone so when I get back I’ll be ready to put them into the system. Oh, did I mention I HATE doing budgets?

Ah well, lunch is over, back to the spreadsheets....

Well, I attempted to post yesterday but then the entire thing went into the great abyss. Let's hope I do better today.

I didn't post all last week. The previous weekend, I found out that my highschool friend, Chris, was losing her courageous battle with cancer. She had been very proactive, having a double mastectomy after testing positive for the gene (her mom had lost her life to cancer). Recovery & reconstructive plastic surgery had been rough with complications. She was restoring a 100+ yr old home in New Orleans when she was diagnosed w/ stage 4 ovarian cancer mere days before Katrina hit. She relocated to Baton Rouge and has lived there for the last 5 yrs. When I saw her at our 25yr reunion last summer, she posed beautifully with all the bald men for a picture. Her smile outshined all of those heads! When she left, she snuck out so she didn't have to say good bye. It was announced that she had gone and wanted everyone to know she would see us again. I kept in touch with her via FaceBook here and there. Her son is 1 year older than DS.

She lost her battle this past Wednesday. I felt that I had to do something. Coincidentally her funeral was the same evening as a cancer research fundraiser here in town. I went with a heavy heart.

It's funny. Chris & I were never "best" friends. We hung out occasionally just because we lived across the street from each other more than anything. But she affected me. Know what I mean? She is one of the people that you look back on your life and say, "I am a better person having known her." Maybe it's because we're the same age, our sons are the same age, etc. I don't know. I am rambling.

I will be back next week. I just couldn't get on the scale and face it after how I have comforted myself.

Okay so my "I'll be back in a couple of hours" from yesterday really turned into a long couple of hours. I am -1.5lbs this week but I am standing here soaking wet. I had fallen off the raft again since that weigh in was for like 3 weeks. My darling husband told me to stop standing so close to the edge of the raft :lmao: A lot of help he is. Actually he is spot on. I have gotten cocky lately (last 3 months or so) and figured that I knew what I was doing. Well I have lost and gained the same 5 lbs for months! I am doing no exercise but I still expected to loose weight. Yeah right Einstien, like that is going to happen.

I was going to try the rewards route but my hubby loves me too much and when I need or want something he tells me to go and get it, plus I do kinda have him wrapped around my finger and can pretty much get what I want. So anyways I love getting a massage (but only from him - take that as you will) but he doesn't like to give them so he made up a reward sheet with all of my favorite things on it and I get points for doing exercise, drinking my water and other things that I should be doing. Once I get enough points I get to trade them in for the rewards. We started yesterday - which was a disaster of a day but it is a start and we are off to the races.

I sat down the other day and realized that I am really good at coming up with excuses as to why I am up. I can always find someway to rationalize it. Well no more - excuses do not exsit. I can see myself slidding back into my old lifestyle if I am not careful. People are starting to notice that I am loosing weight and I like to here it. I am going to have a nice loss next week to share with you all.

That's the ticket Heather!!:thumbsup2

I love that you are getting organized with reward sheets and getting DH in on the game. Hopefully that will be just the motivation you need.

It is great to hear people commenting and complimenting you on your weight loss, isn't it? I know I never tire of it. :rotfl2:

I hope you earn yourself a massage before the month's end!!

YAY!! There are a ton of posts to read! Makes me happy!!

I'm doing a drive by. Hubby and I are heading out to dinner and a movie, in one of those new theaters that lets you eat while you watch tv. Hoping we don't fall asleep in the recliners. :lmao:

We've already looked at the menu and are gonna split a flatbread and sliders and one dessert. I ate less for breakfast and lunch than normal to save points for tonight. Still debated if I'm gonna order a cocktail or not!

Will be back tonight or tomorrow to catch up with everyone.

Just wanted to give a quick  to Ancestry! So glad to see you back on here!! I'm struggling to get back on here on a regular basis myself!

Catch y'all later! So excited to come home to a brand new Biggest Loser and Glee! TWO of my FAVORITEST shows!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!

Does scrubbing a boys' bathroom earn you exercise points? If it doesn't, it should.

Welcome back Allison! We've missed you around here. I remember when you said you'd be stepping away for a while and I was hoping everything would resolve itself. Congrats on finding a good gym.

Julie and Dawn, you both just cracked me up! I have had a similar battle all my life with my oldest sister - always the thinnest and will stand next to you in front of a mirror and tell you how fat she feels. She was also fond of giving me her old clothes because they were just too huge on her. Some days I want to smack her.

Julie you look amazing!

Patrick, I still love ya, even if your Saints beat my 49ers last night. I didn't watch the game because I didn't want to jinx them. See they play great until I start watching, then they tank. Turns out last night they lost without my help.

Aimee, Happy Anniversary! Hope you guys have a wonderful time. I'll have to get the name of that theater from you because it sounds nice. (Unless it's Alamo Drafthouse, because we have one of those right by us. The one you described sounded nicer.) Go for the cocktail!

Amanda, I'd love to send Piper a letter. I think my kids would even enjoy writing (but no promises that she'll be able to read their handwriting ;) ) Please PM me the address.

PixiePlanner I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's battle. It sounds like you were very lucky to have known her and to have had her in your life.

Just realized I haven't posted results this week. I'm -0.2. It's a teeny loss, but at least it's not a gain. But I'm having one of those weeks where my weight suddenly shot up 1.5 lbs overnight so I'm feeling kind of blue. Plus I have to rip out all of the sewing I've done on my DD's Halloween costume and start over, and even then I'm not sure it'll fit. I might have to think on this overnight....

I'm so proud of everyone here. Some of you were big ol' losers this week :thumbsup2. Some of you struggled a bit but are recommitting yourselves to this journey. Let's keep up the momentum!

Actually, the 49ers played great last night, it was my team who was slacking..........

Your team actually knocked our winning field goal into the uprights...it was rather funny.

But regardless, 2 N.O. WHO DAT?!?!?!

Jessica – I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. I totally understand how this could affect you. I think the way you honored her by going to a cancer fundraiser was a great idea.

Aimee – “Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary to you” pretend you someone that can carry a tune sing that to you. I hope you have a fantastic night out with your hubby.

Heather – Let me say that I totally understand your analogy for falling off the raft. I’ve not put up the 5lb picture in my signature because I haven’t been able to keep it off for more than one week in a row. As soon as I drop the weight the next week it comes right back. I love your reward system. Hmm, maybe I’ll see if Jim is interested in that.

Patrick/Barb – I was going to post something last night, but just didn’t get back to the boards. I watched the game and when anything excited happened I’d think about you two.

Today’s log:
Breakfast – raisin bran w/ff milk
Lunch – Taco salad w/black beans, hamburger and home grown tomato, salsa and yogurt
Snack – nectarine and fiber one bar
Dinner – turkey tenderloin, corn, baked potato
Dessert – fruit smoothies

September 21 DONE – VEGGIES DONE

Just a quickie as I'm getting ready go to bed so I can get up early and walk!! We're all settled in, and luck must have been smiling...they were out of isolation rooms, so we're in a 3 bed room by ourselves, with a private shower..and to top it off..I have a bed! To say I was a bit excited would be massive understatement..I usually sleep on an air mattress! They have also switched the a lot of the cafeteria stuff..the kids now order their food ahead of time, and there are much healthier options! Woohooo! It may just be paradise ;) Okay..not paradise, but a big improvement! Hope everyone had a great day!
