When Did I get Voted Off of Skinny Island #2: Castaway's Land Ho!!!!

Gelly - Happy Anniversary! What movie?
Jessica - I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm sure it was really hard to go to the fundraiser. Thank you for sharing with us and reminding us how precious life is and how we may not realize how we affect so many people.
Patrick - Love the quotes! Have you seen how bad the Vikings have been s(*(ing?

Ancestry - welcome back - way to go on finding a gym.

I've been a little MIA myself lately. I've tried to keep up reading along, but haven't tracked or exercised much. Then with my super busy long weekend away, I ate and drank like I was not trying at all!!!
So - we have a new scale and it measures to the tenth of a pound. Since I weighed in yesterday, this morning I was down .8. Hopefully losing some water from the weekend.
I went for a walk at lunch today, and then DH and I walked to Target tonight. So I'm feeling better and hoping to control my eating better now.

Exercise - Bikini Workout for Beginners from SP; 63 min walk/jog (3.5 miles)

Breakfast - Multigrain Cheerios w/ blueberries & milk
Lunch - salsa chicken, brown rice, black beans in a wheat tortilla
Snack - kipper snacks
Dinner - KFC chicken breast (took off the breading & skin); corn on the cob; 2 small choc. chip cookies
Snack - indian corn

Total - 1283 cal
Water - 96 oz

September 21 Done!

Yes, I jogged for 10-15 minutes of my hour on the treadmill...It was a *really* slow jog, but a jog nonetheless. I did my 5k in May in under 45 minutes; I need to get back there again, and then beyond! (I realize that's probably straight up walking speed for most people, but once I get anywhere 4mph or more I just feel more comfy at a slow jog...walking at that pace starts to hurt my feet and shins pretty quick.)

I totally spaced that Biggest Loser started tonight. I guess I'm going to have to watch it on Hulu because that and Glee and DWTS are all on at the same time!

egg/bun
cheese stick
lettuce wraps, veggie chips, laughing cow wedge/rice crackers, 3 mini choco pieces
granola bar, another cheese stick! (and I wonder why my cholesterol is high:confused3)
chicken piece, tator tots, couple bites of noodle dish
9/21 done

had to talk to one of my paras about her ineffectiveness today. I'm surprized I didn't eat even more. Big stressor. BTW, she was totally shocked and thought she was doing a good job. OY.

Allison – Welcome back! I hope one of the gyms you look at fit your needs. It really does have to be a good fit. I’ve belonged to a couple and if you don’t like the feel, you won’t go (no matter how cheap it is).

Welcome back Allison! We've missed you around here. I remember when you said you'd be stepping away for a while and I was hoping everything would resolve itself. Congrats on finding a good gym.

Ancestry - welcome back - way to go on finding a gym.

Thanks for the warm welcome (back) ladies! I truly appreciate it. Life has had more than its fair share of challenges recently. I need to spend some time catching up with everyone and reading the posts -- which I hope to do later today.

I'm off to the gym for now. My first day actually working out again. I'm nervous because it is going to be hard to move backwards (i.e. reduce the weights, lower the intensity, etc.) but I have to do it in order to move forward.

My eating yesterday was awful but my goal for yesterday wasn't focused on eating -- it was focused on joining a gym which I accomplished. Today's goal is just getting to the gym and getting in a workout. I'll worry about food in the near future. Going to add in the exercise first.

Have a great day everyone! :cool1:

Thanks Julie & Jane for the recipe & advice.
I got on the SP website yesterday morning thinking maybe I'd start using that instead of WW. 1st - I found it so much harder to navigate compared to WW, & 2nd it told me I needed to lose 20 pounds. Now I will admit that I have around 12-15 to lose but I feel 20 is way too much. 3rd when I went to plug in what I had eaten I couldn't find simple stuff like the flavor of creamer I use (international delight hazelnut) but they had french vanilla. ??? weird

So all that to say I think I'll just get back on WW. I'd rather not spend the money but if I stick with it, & get the weight off say by Thanksgiving, then I can drop that monthly payment. Think 12 pounds in 9 weeks is too lofty a goal? Plus if I'm training for my marathon I'll accumulate lots of activity points so I won't starve right? right? right????

Tues stats:
brkfst -blueberry yogurt, coffee w/creamer
lunch - turkey pastrami (3 slices), roasted zucchini & yellow squash
snack - special k fruit crisp
dinner - chick-fil-a spicy chicken club w/yogurt parfait, 3 bites of DS's ice cream
snack - reduced fat pringles (sour cream & onion), goldfish

Evenings get me...I need to get a grip on that, I have fallen off the wagon hard! As much as I hate to admit it, I am a junk food junkie... there. I said it.

Exercise - Ran 4 miles on "dread"mill.

We're all settled in, and luck must have been smiling...they were out of isolation rooms, so we're in a 3 bed room by ourselves, with a private shower..and to top it off..I have a bed!

Who hoo!! A bed and a shower, what more could you ask for??

They have also switched the a lot of the cafeteria stuff..the kids now order their food ahead of time, and there are much healthier options! Woohooo! It may just be paradise ;)

Maybe we can call it COMPARATIVE PARADISE. I think that works!! :rotfl:

I'm so glad that you are able to get healthier options for meals. Personally, I can't go much longer than a weekend on high fat crap before it takes its toll. I don't know how I ever ate the way I did before. Just thinking about it often makes me start to feel ill nowadays.

And I'm not the only one. On our Disney trip in April we didn't get much in the way of fruits and veggies (the kids got really tired of applesauce, grapes and carrots) so when we ate at Teppan Edo and I got a salad as my appetizer, DD demanded I share.

Geez, you would have thought it was ice cream the way she gobbled down her first couple of bites. She was crestfallen on bite three or four when she first encountered the dressing. Neither one of us liked it so we ate around the outside where the lettuce was bare and left the rest. She also went to town on the mixed veggies that came with her entree and she was eyeballing her brothers leftovers as well.

That was a real eye opener for me and I've planned accordingly for this next trip. Our counter service options are going to have more greens and I'm going to make sure we have fruit at every breakfast. It'll help me avoid gaining too much (hopefully) but it'll also be better for our overall well being. Well, we girls at least...our boys can apparently eat crap for a whole week without experiencing any negative effects. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

Anyway...

I had been thinking about you and that part of your situation since I read you post about it and it really bothered me that you would have to go so long with less than ideal meal choices so I was really relived to read this last post.

Thanks for the address...I'm getting something together for Piper later this afternoon. What are her fav Disney characters/movies??

Ahhhh… I am back from vacation… and the scale shows it.:scared1: I am up over 5lbs.:scared1::scared1::scared1: My daughter has been sick the last few days and I have not been able to go to gym in the morning. I hope everything changes quickly. I watched biggest loser last night. (love that show) but I had a rough time when one of the ladies who did look like she was large got on the scale and weighed 3lbs less then I did when I started this journey. I was very upset and now I feel like a Beluga Whale.:sad1: My husband was kind to remind me that I have lost 69lbs since I’ve started in January, but that did not seem to help yesterday.

Here’s hoping things look up. I need to break out of this slump and get back on track….

Happy Anniversary Gelly! Hope you had a great time!

Julie or Amanda (who ever get to me first) do you have Piper's address - I would like to put something together for her as well.

Just crazy busy here guys and will be until the new year. This is busy season for me business wise so I may not be posting as much but I am still very much here and reading. Will post when I can and will still be weighing in on Mondays.

Okay so I jogged again today and did close to 2.5 miles in 36 minutes.

I was pretty pooped towards the end (not to mention sweaty :upsidedow) but at the same time so exhilarated. I entered it into ww online and it turns out I earned myself 7 exercise points for my trouble. I think I  jogging.

I just needed to brag about that. I'm done now.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Hang in there! You can do it. :thumbsup2 I always seem to gain a lot of water weight when on vacation. The additional sodium and excessive sitting when traveling (either in a car or on an airplane) causes edema for me. Usually 3-4 days after getting back into my normal routine the water exits. 69 pounds since January is a HUGE accomplishment! I, too, started in January but I fell off after May and it has taken me now to get back on track.

Thanks Julie for Piper's address. I will put something together for her and get it sent off next week.

I have a gym questions for those of you who go to a gym.....Does your gym have a time limit on equipment?

When I was at the YMCA there was a 30 minute time limit on each piece of equipment. Now if the gym was completely empty or if there was a piece of equipment identical to what you were on they would let you go over the time limit - but you could only do this under very specific circumstances.

At planet fitness (where I joined yesterday) they don't seem to have a time limit. I found this frustrating today. I joined there specifically because they had 3 Arc Trainers - which is sort of like a modified elliptical. Now they do have tons of treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers, and both types of exercise bikes. Most of this equipment is usually empty -- especially the ellipticals and stair climbers. Because of old injuries I can't use those. I need the Arc Trainer because it doesn't put any stress on my joints.

Well trying to get an Arc Trainer machine proved quite challenging. First there are only 3 of them (they are expensive) and second the people using them were all doing a 60+ minute work out. And of course they all seemed to have just started their work out minutes before I arrived. I was just annoyed that they were permitted to stay on the equipment that long considering the gym doesn't have that many of the Arc Trainers to begin with.

What do your gyms do? Time limit or no time limit or does it depend on how crowded the gym is?

Just wondering if this keeps happening if I should speak to the front desk staff about it or not.

When I was at the Y they also had a 30 minute time limit. Where I go now there is no time limit that I am aware of. I use the ellipitcal for 60 minutes and was never told that was not ok. (Of course I go at 4:30 in the morning)

Allison- Welcome back! I would ask at the desk what the policy is, and if there is none maybe ask when they're the least busy? That way you may not have to wait.

Julie- Piper's fave is Jasmine, but she likes all the princesses. Aladdin is the fave movie, also 101 Dalmations, Wizards of Waverly Place..anything really! I hear you on the high fat junk. I let Piper get a kid cuisine meal last week, and when I put it in front of her..she says "Why's all that grease on the bottom??" I explained, and she said that was just gross and she didn't want them anymore! She used to LOVE them. Something is obviously working! Thank you for passing along the addy also.

I actually went to subway this morning, got an egg white english muffin sandwich, and a footlong..I'll eat half tonight, and half prob tomorrow for lunch, then go back on Fri and do the same thing again. I'm also going to go to the grocery tonight and get some fruit, some oatmeal, and maybe some individual size veggie packs for myself. I can eat a lot more cheaply that way than buying stuff in the cafeteria all the time. I did get up at 5:30 this morning and get my 4 miles in! It was darker than a pocket though, lol, and no lights on the gravel road I was on..thank goodness the gravel shone in the moonlight or I may have gotten lost forever! LOL! Okay, someone is clamoring to get on the computer... hope everyone is having a great day!

Julie - Awww! You're stalking me. I'm so touched. :lmao: Sorry you suffer from the same overactive night brain problem. It sucks! Sounds like you have it worse than I do since you can't nap! UGH!
WTG on the jogging! You rock girl!
Congrats on having your pants on the ground! LOL
I know what you mean about hating to give up pieces of clothing you love. I just have to tell myself I'll get something even more fabulous when I hit goal weight.
I don't know how you are keeping your mouth shut about the trip. I'm incapable! Can't wait to hear bout their reactions though!

Leen - I love frozen grapes! Forgot who told me to try them first but thanks for reminding me! Need to get back to eating them.

Sheree - Sorry for the new scale issues! I'm putting it off as long as I can! LOL
So I'm just converting kg to lb every week.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes! We saw The American. We wanted to see The Town but that showing was sold out at the time we needed to go. I wanted to see Eat Pray Love but that's not exactly DH's thing so we settled on The American. Blah. Not my kind of movie.

Lizzy - totally feel your pain on the potty training issue. DS2 is totally trained if he's wearing big boy pants. Problem is half the time I can't convince him to wear big boys. He'd rather wear a diaper! :confused3

I laughed out loud when I read about your standing outside the bathroom room door, with her panties around her knees and bending over to watch her pee on the floor.

I posted on facebook but I don't think I told y'all about what DS2 did.
We are potty training our puppies as well so we have a piddle pad by the back door in case they don't make it outside.

The other night, DS2 was in his big boys, he goes over by the back door, hikes his leg up so it's propped on the shelf we have there and he pees.

On the piddle pad.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Something got mixed up in my messages here.

If I posted this on here before I apologize. It's all running together!

Dana - Hope you're grandmother is recovering well!! Sorry about your aunt! Count me out for DWTS. It's one of the few reality shows I don't watch. Even though I love Chelsie H. from SYTYCD, I just can't get into DWTS. Totally excited about Glee though! Loved the premiere last night. Think it's gonna be an interesting season!

Jane - Sorry to hear that you are on the same boat sleeping wise. I keep my phone on the bedside table and have opened up a notepad at night and typed a bunch of random stuff. I don't know what else to try. I don't want to start with the sleeping pill thing.
Your trip is so close!! So excited!

Thank you for the anniversary wishes and the sweet song !!

Amanda- I would love to send Piper something as well! Maybe some drawings from my boys? Glad to hear that y'all's accomodations are better this time! YAY!

Susan - YAY on fitting into size 12s!

Bree - Wish I knew what to tell you. I can't figure out what makes me hungrier somedays than others and I'm not training for a marathon! Good luck figuring it out and finding that magic combination that works for you.
Check out Daily Plate on Livestrong if you're wanting to try another free site. I found it much easier to navigate and find foods on than SP. And since I had used WW first, I kinda know what you are used to. I still prefer WW but mainly because DH will do it with me and we had all his recipes already saved in their etc. I LOVED Daily Plate's format though!

AncestryAllison AA for short? - WTG on joining the gym!

Jessica - So sorry to hear about your friend. I know what you mean about having people in your life's that affect you! I think it's awesome you went to a cancer fundraiser the same night as her funeral.

Heather - Love the rewards sheet idea! I'm totally gonna steal it!

Thank you for the anniversary wishes!! We enjoyed ourselves very much! Made me look forward to our adults only trip in January even more! And I didn't think that was possible!

Patrick - I don't know that I am as excited as you but I'm pretty stinking excited!! I feel so much more motivated when I watch BL. Something that didn't quite work the same with Losing it with Jillian this summer.

I haven't watch it yet though. I'm about to actually. As soon as I finish this post! So don't be spoiling it for me! LOL Bring on those quotes!

As far as the Saints go, I was fuming Monday night. DH and I played each other on FFB this week. On the week of our anniversary no less. He had Pierre Thomas as his last player and I had finished Sunday night. I was up by like 15 pts or so. Pierre Thomas got him enough points on THE LAST FREAKING run of the game to put him up over me by 1.15 points. I was FUMING! LOL
I knew as soon as Reggie got hurt I was done. *Sigh* I still think that 2pt conversion call was C A R P!

Barb- YES scrubbing a boys bathroom or any bathroom that a boy uses should count for activity points! EWWW! I live in a house with 3 males. You'd think this would be a dream come true, but NO!

Thanks for the anniversary wishes! :goodvibes:

The theater is the Goldclass at the Domain. I've been to Alamo and it's similar in concept but they are trying for the upscale approach. It was fun. Chairs are very comfy - they recline and lean back. They'll bring you blankets. Like for our theater, it's only 24 chairs, whereas Alamo is still theater seating with a row removed in between. The food is similar but 'kicked up a notch'. Flatbreads, sliders, etc. Check out their website. Their menu is there.

Honestly, I prefer Alamo. Just more my speed. But DH had vouchers for Goldclass so we tried it out. It was a lot of fun and great if you want to do dinner and a movie but don't want to be out that long.
I did have one margarita!

Sara - Vacation weight will drop off by just being back at home and in a routine again. Give it a week to get a true reading of what you gained! 69 lbs since January is UNBELIEVABLE! Celebrate that and hang on. Your scale will settle back down in no time!

Whew! All caught up I think!

It took nearly 40 mins to get my teeth cleaned! I will never ever ever let myself go so long between cleanings. I really liked the hygienist and the dentist so that's good.

And ! The best news was I had ZERO cavities!

:scared1:

I was shocked!

The bad news is the temporary filling that I lost is gonna require a crown. Yowzer at the cost even with dental insurance. So that's on the must do list. Along with a billion other things. It's never ending!

My mom already left to go back home. She and I shared a lunch of chicken wings. :guilty: Not the best lunch choice but it's something that she and I both love and that she can't get where she lives. So it's a once every 4 mth treat. I had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and am gonna have soup for dinner to try to recoup today point wise! :thumbsup2

DS2 is down for his afternoon nap and I have banished DS7 to my bedroom to watch cartoons. I'm about to curl up on the couch with my favorite pillow and my 10 lb reward blanket, that I've now earned twice and will probably have to earn AGAIN :lmao: and watch Biggest Loser.

I can't tell y'all how happy that makes me! So excited! I need the motivation!! I always do better when a Biggest Loser is running. :woohoo:

Catch you guys tonight! Gonna try to get trackers posted in the next few days and post more often so I don't have to post a novelette to catch up!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Okay Bree. I dunno if this will help but check out this website.

It has sample daily menu for a 1200 calorie plan. Couldn't hurt to take a peek and see if you can find anything useful.

You may have already mentioned this, but is it after dinner snacking that's the problem or just an all day hunger??

I've noticed breakfasts are fairly light for you. I've heard that ensuring you have a bit more for breakfast can help prevent the munchies later on (this works for me but I was skeptical until I tried it). I have to start my day with some protein or I'm hungry by 10:30 am, so I don't do cereal much but a cup of Special K and half a cup of skim milk is only 2.5 points. If you were to add that to the coffee and yogurt, as well as 1/2 cup of strawberries (0 points) it might make a difference.

The cereal is also a good idea if you need something in the evenings.

I also suggest adding in a zero point soup (if you have it) or a cup of beef, chicken or vegetable broth if you don't. I find that the extra liquid helps fill me up and it's zero points so you could have it for both lunch and dinner if you really needed it.

Here's the website, hope it helps:

Bree – SP can take a little while to get used to. If I can’t find something that I use all the time you can just input the information in one of your favorites. I was lucky that a co-worker showed me how to use it so I had someone to ask questions when I couldn’t figure something out. If you like WW then using it will probably be best.

Amanda – great news about the bed and cafeteria. If Piper is supposed to be in isolation does that mean that you won’t be getting a roommate no matter what? If so, that’s great news. I’m assuming if it’s a room with three beds that it’s much larger than a single room and will at least give you the feeling of space.

Sara – I have a hard time too when I watch those shows (and I love them). I haven’t yet started this season yet (it’s recorded, just haven’t had time to watch it). But I know last year that one of the women was around the same weight I was when I started and flashed past my weight loss during the course of the show. Mentally I know that they are on a fast track with exercising 5-6 hours a day and eating very little, but still it is depressing to know that if I was dedicated that I could have lost that much weight as well. I also have a hard time realizing the amount of weight that I’ve lost and how much different I look (and feel). I finally had to find some old pictures so I could see the changes that everyone else sees.

This photo is from May 2004 at WDW.

And this one from last month when we went canoeing on the river.

I’ll try and make sure to take a similar shot on this trip of the Biergarden restaurant this time so I can compare them for myself. I think we just have to realize that everyone’s path is different and it doesn’t matter how long it takes as long as we continue on that path and don’t turn back around we are good.
Julie – you brag away. 35 minutes of jogging is reason to boast. I’d be lying dead on the floor if it were me.

Allison – I belong to a Y as well and while I do find it sometimes frustrating that I can’t spend more than 30 minutes on a machine I think I would find it even more frustrating to wait forever to get a chance to use a machine. I’d check with the front desk and ask them if there is a policy (especially on those machines) and if there is then they need to enforce it. If there isn’t a policy, maybe check with the manager and see if you could ask them about setting one up. You can’t be the only one this has happened to.
Aimee – OMG the story about the puppies and the piddle pad was hilarious! Too bad you didn’t have the camera running. That’s definitely blackmail material when he grows up.

Good day today. Didn't snack at all today.

Breakfast: raisin bran w/ff milk
Lunch: Sweet Tomatoes salad, one piece of cornbread and yogurt
Snack: fiber one bar
Dinner: 3oz of rib meat, 3/4 cup angel hair pasta
