When did High School Homecoming become like the Pre-Prom?

It would be nice to trade daughters with some of you at special events time.:lmao:

No thanks--I KNOW what you spent on her prom dress last year--which was more than I spent on my wedding dress :lmao::lmao::lmao:.

My daughter is a freshman and we just bought her dress from Boston Store. I had a $10 coupon so the final price was $81.00

It is strapless, and blue with silver streaks. It is gorgeous. Boston Store had some very nice dresses to choose from.

I never go to homecoming but I may this year as it is my senior year..

I went to my Junior prom last year but my mom was lucky. My sister had gotten married that February, prom was at the end of April so I just re-used my maid-of-honor/bridesmaid dress :thumbsup2

I was also sick on prom, had lost my voice..so afterwards we went and sleptover at a friends house and I was the only one that couldn't talk :(

But this year I am going all out so..my mom better look out!

I didn't ever attend Homecoming, but I remember going to my exbf's senior prom with him. I'm trying to remember the name of the restaurant we went to, it was some waterfront place in Arlington/DC. The prom was in the city at the Mariott and had press from the Washington Post there, since it was for a high school where a bunch of senator's kids attended. Anyhow, we got my prom dress at David's Bridal, spent a fortune on it. It still fits, and I wore it to the last Marine Corps Ball I attended back in 2006. My ex wore a kilt (he was a Scottish exchange student) and rented the full tux top and everything. All in all, I think about 900 bucks was spent for that night between my dress, his tux rental, our portion of the limo (which had an aquarium with real fish in it), tickets, and dinner. It was a fun night and I still have the picture from the newspaper in my scrapbook.

I have a friend who just bought her daughter a gorgeous homecoming dress for $5 at Goodwill. They shop there frequently, so her daughter is used to bargain hunting. I don't have the patience, but for special events like this, it would be worth a try.

We went dress shopping yesterday with DD and her best friend. They both found lovely, lovely dresses. DD's is a deep purple and looks a little too good on her (might not let her out of the house in it :lmao:). Her friend got a beautiful navy blue dress that also looks a little too good on her :lmao:. I think DD will be able to wear the shoes from last year. We got a necklace at the dress store, just have to find some earrings-I have a friend that makes custom jewelry so we might go that route-she is VERY, VERY reasonable.

Great Idea-I have given never worn/hardly worn clothes to Goodwill for years:thumbsup2
