When did they add a "summer" rate - wasn't that once just regular season? And I just read on mousesavers that AAA rates are NOT available during that time - since when? Oh my Disney has really changed. I almost always stay off site - this go around I wanted to book on site - a 4 br house can be rented for what Disney is asking for a Value Resort ($109 a night) - not happy at all disboards members. I really don't want to rent a house again - but I don't know!! Help people - what should I do??????

That's not true. I booked POR with the AAA discount for 6/07 which is considered the summer rate.

After being on hold for 15 minutes with Disney - I was told that I could get a AAA rates - thanks for the reply. I was still kind of taken back with the Summer Rate - the summer was considered the regular a few years ago. Disney is always changing.

That's great news. I hate reading of others given wrong information. I agree on the summer rate and I'm still conflicted paying that much to stay at POR + we need 2 rooms (6 of us)

Here's some of the changes they've made to resort reservations since 2000, when I started going to WDW regularly.

Added "preferred location rooms" to the values for an extra per night fee. (Later, they made approximately half of the value rooms "preferred.") They were also added to Caribbean Beach.

October and early November switched from "value season" to "regular season"

Addition of "pre-holiday season" rates in December at Fort Wilderness

Addition of "summer" rates ($10/night higher than regular) at the values and moderates only.

This will continue as long as people keep coming. I would bet the beginning of December is not going to be considered value season much longer.
