When did DISboards start? Any old timers out there?

I think I found the dis via the old search engine Dogpile!!!!
I used to frequent something called rec.art.disney/parks or something like that.

The boards began in 1997 and I was here (or there as the case may be ) a month or two after.

I think the first time I was on was back in 1997 after my trip. I had so many questains about DVC. I bought in 1998. I remember these posters
Robt, Pete, Eva, there were so many others that helped me out. I wish I could remember everyone.

We had a meet in June 99, at Prime time 50's. Eva was there but I cannot remember who else.

I also attended a meet in Grapevine Mall. Dan Murphy, Willy was there and many others.
Are any of you still out there?

My family was there. . .my kids aren't so little anymore. We rode ToT after and our daughter was crying and scared but did it anyway. Immediately after she wanted right back on! That was a fun meet--haven't talked to Eva in a long time.

My youngest Daughter had set out on the TOT, she was to young. I think we have a picture of everyone on the ToT here somewhere, I will try to find it. That was a very fun meet. Would love to do it again. I see a post from Eva once in a while. She is still posting and traveling to Disney often.

That was one heck of a meet, Tigger. One of the early ones. I was in the Dallas area for business and was able to get the meet going, I think at American Bandstand, if I recall. You were there with your daughter I think and maybe a cousin. Trying to think...Ronda and her family, LisaTx and family, Coral and family, Robin and family, and many others.

That's exactly how it's making me feel, lol... I remember the first time I met Dan Murphy, my little boy was about 5 or 6 and completely thrilled with the keychain from Chicago that Dan gave him. That "little boy" is about to be a Sophomore in high school and towers over me, lol. Where did the time go??

Glad to see so many "oldtimers" still around here! Do any of the DIS crowd from the Houston area remember the meets we had before at Kemah and at the Rainforest Cafe? Those were so much fun.

Oh my, it's been 10 years for me. Like others, I joined to get info for our first family trip. DS #1 was 8 years old then, and he just graduated high school yesterday. Time marches on!

I used to be addicted to reading the old debate board. I LOVED it. Was too scared to post, though!

Met only one Diser IRL and that was Safari Steve. Met him on....you guessed it....the Jungle Cruise.

It was definitely way different back then! Much less drama, much less hysterics, much less But change happens, and the DIS boards are still here and we're all still loving Disney, and that's what counts!

Me, too. 1999 start date even though I was on before. I love the Disboards.

I joined in 2007. I had just returned from a trip to WDW and ran into a woman that was wearing a Disney jacket...we got to talking and she had mentioned some web sites (not the DIS)....but through them, I found the DIS and a home. Been here ever since and love it.

I haven't been here since the beginning, but I've been here since the end of '98 when Ahnalira invited a bunch of us on another forum to come to the Inspiration Board (that forum doesn't exist anymore). I was planning our first (and only real) family trip to WDW and wanted to learn everything I could. When I came back I wanted to share what I learned, and stayed ever since.

I became a moderator back in 2000 when the Disneyland board opened up.

I remember chat nights, too, and the fun we used to have back in those days on the Host Board. I have a lot of nice memories due to the DIS.
