When can you request new bedding?

It's not only the comforters.

When DH and I stayed at ASSports for our honeymoon, the first night he was pretty sick with a flu. He had sweat all over the sheets, we just assumed the sheets would be changed that night. They weren't. We called and complained, and they said they would change the sheets the next day. Well, that night I spilled a tiny bit of soda on the sheets because I'm clumsy. Wouldn't you know it, the next day the soda stain was still there. I just gave up on it, but we slept in DIRTY sheets for the entirety of our honeymoon.

I think that is absolutely disgusting, and I complained to both housekeeping and the front desk, and all they did was apologize. At least we both took long hot showers each morning and AVOIDED afternoon naps!! :scared:

Okay, now you're freaking me out! LOL Is there any possible way to know when you get there whether you have fresh sheets or not? Eek!!

There is usually a sign that says they only change sheets every 3 days unless requested (and of course after change of guests). They do not change the sheets everyday for the same guests. I would be surprised if it's actually every 3 days, probably only between guests.

You can usually tell if sheets are fresh when you pull down the comforter/blanket. Fresh sheets should not have wrinkles all over them.

We don't mind not having fresh sheets each day - it's not like I do laundry at home every day for clean sheets!

However, when the sheets are obviously dirty, we assumed they would be changed. And when they weren't, we figured our requests for clean sheets would prove effective.

If we were in a nice hotel (not a Value) I would expect compensation. Since we were in a Value resort, I'm okay with the fact that DH slept in his old flu-sweat for the remainder of our honeymoon. Hey, that's what he gets for getting sick during our most special time!!! :rolleyes1

When we were at Pop last week and two of us caught the stomach virus, we needed clean sheets!

We just pulled all the sheets off, threw them in the corner, and left a note for housekeeping on top of the tip asking them to please change sheets.

We did this twice, no problems each time. We came back to the room to find fresh beds.

Now, I don't know about those comforters.... best to avoid those.

I always take the comforters off the beds and don't use them :scared:. On one trip I wrote a note to housekeeping to leave with tip about needing fresh sheets blankets and a clean bedspread. they changed the sheets but the bedspread was the same one as it had the exact same dirty spot on it . They really need to wash the blankets between guests.

I think they do wash the comforters occassionally because I have seen Mousekeeping bring a bag with a comforter in rooms before.

When we stayed at POR, there were food crumbs under the comforter - ICK - not to mention the rest of the room issues - but we watched them strip everything down and change it - they even changed the bedskirts.

I don't use the comforter either, but sheets are usually pretty obvious if they aren't clean - they would have wrinkles all over and not be stiff.

I fold the comforter up and put it away. Yuk. Problem is -- when mousekeeping makes up the beds the next day, they put it BACK on the bed. Is it rude to ask them to make up the bed without the comforter?

Hmm. I hadn't thought about blankets. I might pack my own blankets....

I thought I might leave a note telling them I just need fresh towels and the trash taken out for us. I can make my own bed and I would rather clean the bathroom myself. I don't want the dirty comforter on my clean sheets! I don't think it would be rude- they might appreciate having one less thing to do. I see you're going to AKL right before us. I hope the stomach thing is gone by then.

Unfortunately we found all communication with the mousekeepers very difficult- English (maybe????) not understood.

we always take the comforter and blankets off the minute we arrive. I take the blankets down to the laundry and throw them in the dryer and then check the sheets to ensure no crumbs, etc. I also bring my wipes to run over the faucets and handles. I have serious allergies and respiratory issues so just a way for my family to ensure that I stay healthy and enjoy our vacation rather than ER time.

We use wipes as well, but call for fresh sheets and comfortors when we get to the room. Never been a problem at any resort. We tip nicely for the person who comes to change the linens as we know it is extra work - and not pleasant. ;)

our recent trip, our comforters at Pop were filthy, stained - as well as the blankets beneath - i called Housekeeping in the early evening (of our first full day) and waited in the room for the maid - she brought everything new in plastic bags (i had stripped both beds completely while waiting) - gave her a good tip for the extra work of completely making each bed new

felt better about sitting on the comforters after that.

At any hotel (Disney or not), we always remove the comforters and blankets.
I have always thought they don't get washed between guests.

But, are you saying that when you check in, you get new sheets? Just to make sure the sheets are really new?

Also - if you ask for new comforters and blankets - how do you know they were actually washed?

Also, fwiw, I always wipe down the rest of the room with lysol wipes. Especially the remote. Yuk!

I NEVER sit on or use the blanket or bedspread in any hotel anywhere. DH and I have a Dreamsack that we use when we travel. It is really comfy as it's silk, and I know that it is clean.

I have got to quite reading this stuff! The less I know, the better...all this is kinda freakin me out about our trip next week!

:rotfl: Me Too!

I never let my DD sit on the bedspread either and check the sheets - but can't say I've ever wiped down anything in the room-hmmmm

I made the bed myself each morning and left them a note saying that they did not need to make the bed (just in case they couldn't tell!). I too take the comforter off right away and put it in a corner. That's where it stays the entire time. This time, I think I will ask for all bedding to be removed when we get there. Also, a tip for those who do bring their own sheets -- make sure your sheets don't look like theirs, bring colored or printed sheets.

I worked at a resort hotel while in college. Blankets and comforters are RARELY washed. Our hotel did them once a quarter and that was a luxury hotel.

Sheets are never changed daily. Most hotels go by room number. You could go a couple of days before your sheets are changed.

OT-but NEVER use a glass or silverware directly from a counter or cabinet. It is often returned to it's position, unwashed, if it appears clean. We had team housekeeping. I'll never forget my partner blowing on silverware or glasses and buffing them before she put them back in the drawer!

I've always been grossed out with the comforter/blanket thing. I cringe when my DH lays on the bed. I pull the comforter down when I sleep so it is nowhere near my skin!! Haven't thought about asking for new stuff. Might be something I do in May. I'm okay with the sheets. I feel pretty good that you do get new ones when you check in. As for having them changed mid-stay, I know I don't change my sheets at homes after only using them four days. I don't even like walking on the rugs or the bathroom floor. I bring my clorox wipes for the sink area, phone, & of course, the remote.
