When can we call or fax our room request?

I know some will say "you can't/shouldn't do this"... but I also know that some will say "you can and you should"... it's this second group I'm looking to hear from! :rotfl:

I just can't remember the procedure... pretty sure we're supposed to fax, but not positive and how many days before check it?? We're staying at Pop for 3 nights and then OKW for 5 nights.

If you have your requests noted in your reservation there is no need to fax or call ahead of time. Most of the resorts are ignoring faxes these days.

If you try and call the resort most likely you are reaching a Disney call center. They answer as the resort but they aren't there. All they will do is add your requests to your reservation.
 
The DVC resorts (which includes OKW) do not accept faxed room requests - when they preassign rooms, they only use the info on the reservation. There is a written policy on this on the DVC Members' website. Make sure your requests are on the reservation - even if you choose to fax anyway.

Most of the time, OKW uses "room ready" policy for assigning rooms. That means they assign you a room at check in. Often you have a choice of rooms that are cleaned and ready to be occupied. (That does depend on how busy/full the resort happens to be for your dates, of course). Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to get there fairly early in the day.
