When can I start using dining credits?

we will be in Disney February 20th. Our plane lands at 930 and we have a 1 o'clock dining reservation at DTD. Will we be able to just use our bands for dining at any point in the 20th or do we have to go check in first? Which we may do just to be safe even though we did online check in and gave phone number.

You have to check in first, but you can check in before your room is ready, as early at 6:30AM.

If you do on-line check in and put your estimated arrival at 9:30 AM - you will be good to go. You will probably get a text at 9:30 stating your room is not ready. However, your bands should be activated and ready to use.

We arrived early and ate at the CSR food court at noon using our bands without any problem.

I did do online check in and put arrival time at 1030. I think, just to be safe, I'll go to the front desk if I don't get a room ready text. Seems like that would be easier than dealing with it at DTD is there is an issue.
