When boarding, can you get off, go to store and re-board?

I haven't seen this mentioned, and need to know: On the day we depart on the Magic, can my family and I board, and then when friends of ours arrive (they will arrive later than we will), with their car, can I disembark and drive to a nearby store to get some things I need, then re-board the ship (with items in hand) prior to departure? Can I "check" the purchased items, or do I have to carry them with me?

Liza, in the past I know people who have gotten off the ship to go back to the terminal and then re-boarded, but with all of the security issues now I honestly don't know if it's allowed or not. You would have to hand carry anything back on the ship unless you had an extra luggage tag to check it (I'd hand carry groceries anyway).

My best advice is to ask at the terminal when you check in. Enjoy!

Even if it were allowed, it would really be a <b><i>HUGE</i></b> hassle. I would suggest going to the store first and then board just the one time.

Thanks, Michelle. Dave, I completely agree and would go to the store first but don't have a car. I tried to get out of the Disney transfers from the airport and use a car service, but as I am flying with "Disney air" the transfers are already paid for. Is the Publix mentioned in these posts in walking distance from the terminal? If so, I could walk there, but it didn't seem to me that was the case. Will the Disney bus stop at Publix for me? That seemed so unlikely I didn't even ask the question.

My friends are driving, however, so on their arrival I would have access to their car. I don't want to simply wait in the parking lot until they arrive, but would like to go ahead and board. Later in the afternoon when they arrive I could take their car if necessary, and just wondered whether it would be possible. I haven't decided whether I am going to, just exploring the possibilities.

Liza, could you have your friends pick up the groceries on the way to the port for you, and you just reimburse them? That might be your simplest option.

Yes, I already asked, but it won't work out with their schedule, luggage, people, etc. I have alternatives, and I'm not worried about this, but I was just trying to find out whether boarding, disembarking and then re-boarding is allowed. It sounds like no one is sure.

I have a question about what Liza is asking. Once you check in you surrender part of your ticket, right? When you arrive at the terminal parking lot security will ask to see your ticket. You will not have one because your have turned it in already.
I'd say once aboard stay to many things can happen. Can't you pack what you need? If it's sodas or beer and you are worried about them flying, don't be. Double bag them in plastic baggies and pack tee-shirts around they for extra protection. Take an extra suitcase if you have to or a carry on. Remember you won't wear half the clothes you pack.

From what I can remember the Publix is across the road from Ron Jon surf shop in Coca Beach, maybe you could talk a cab there from the terminal, have the cab wait and come right back. It is about five miles from the terminal. I always make a stop a Ron Jons for beach items and funky t-shirts.

You all have just added another element to my plans. (hear that squeak, it's the wheels turning) Since we are allowed two bags per person, and my kids certainly don't need two bags each... I think I'll fill a small hard-sided case with the wine and soda's and just wrap the whole works with bubblewrap or something. Then if we don't need the extra space going home, I can put the small one into a large and just fill that inner small one with the laundry.
