I thought I would be gold AFTER my 5th cruise. I was just on the phone with DCL and was told several times I would be gold ON my 6th cruise. What I really want to know when I can book my shore excursions for my 6th cruise.

You should be Gold upon completion of your 5th cruise so if your 6th cruise gold booking window opens after you cruise your 5th time you should be gold.

You are gold after your fifth cruise. When they swipe your card on disembark day this is the time you become gold.

However, you may need to politely remind the check-in cast members if you are doing a back to back cruise. Often times the system doesn't update between when you get off the first leg and 25 minutes later when you check back in for the second leg. We will be doing this later this year for a Back to Back on the Fantasy. Cruise 5 is the first leg and cruise 6 the second leg. Sure we don't get the booking advantage, but the on board shopping discount and members reception are appreciated.

It's just semantics. You reach Gold status upon completion of your fifth cruise (so AFTER). When you take you sixth cruise you will already be Gold (so ON).

For our first 3 cruises as Gold we got a photo album (this was September 2015, January 2016, May 2016. ) Since September 2016 we have been given tumblers instead of photo albums. We did 2 cruises in September and on the second one we hit cruise 10. The recent December cruise was 11 and we also got 2 tumblers.

Yes. We have been given 2 for each of our cruises starting in September. We still got the photo album in May 2016. And the burlap bag of course.
