We are thinking about maybe moving to the Orlando area and so my husband wants to rent a car one of the days we are down at WDW and are trying to decide which day to rent and what time he should go. We are coming in on a Saturday afternoon, so how is Sunday traffic? Is there traffic early in the morning (like 8-9 am?) He wants to head to the east coast (Satellite Beach) and north to davenport, Fl. Or is traffic better during the week days and what time is it ugly going and then trying to return to WDW? any help would be appreciated about the traffic patterns :confused3

I live in Davenport and you have to watch I-4. On that part of I-4 the traffic slows down at certain times during the day but you don't really sit in traffic. Davenport is south of Orlando. I don't find the traffic bad in this area compared to where I used to live in PA.

If you are heading east and going through Orlando you have your typical morning and evening rush hours.

I-4 can be a major bottleneck during rush hours in the Orlando area. There really isn't much of a traffic problem around the parks.

Except between 4 and 7PM I have never had problems with the dreaded 528 (Bee Line; Beach Line) to I-4 route to Disney, and also occasional trips Disney to Universal.

Disney hints:

North airport exit, left at first light, curve to left, two quick lefts at next lights onto 528 west, pay one 75 cent toll, then onto I-4 west to Disney.

Returning on I-4 east, get on 528, take its exit 9 Tradeport, left, cross under, cheap gas station right there, (then) get into middle lane, required right onto McCoy, right at next light into airport.

When in Boston hear Howie Carr on 68 WRKO b***h and moan about the dreaded private sector (which employs everyone who is not a civil servant).

If you are renting a car from the airport I suggest taking 417. Much less traffic so you aren't stressed when you arrive. Tolls are $2.
