Alrighty then.....four hurricanes in the span of six weeks. Tell me it's going to end soon. We are scheduled to head to BWV for Epcots Food and Wine Festival on October 21st and we are nervous that we'll still be dealing with hurricanes. I gotta believe those little food/wine booths will take a beating if another 'cane comes through?

Let's all pray that this was the last, but remember, there is still 25% of hurricane season left:earseek:

We are heading down on Oct. 8th to my sister's in Lake City and then onto SSR on the 11th. Sure hope Florida gets a break!!

We were just talking about this over the weekend too. We arrive the 15-22, and I am quite sure it will still be pretty soggy and messy, but I hope there are no more storms for this poor battered area!

I would think might be heading there - Lisa....

don't let hurricanes stop you - go and have fun a different way -

the hurricane season is June 1 - Nov 30 - so yes the food/wine festavial is included.

If you look at historical data, the peak of hurricane activity is Sept 15, it starts declining towards the end of the month, with Oct having far less hurricane activity than Sept. With the end of the month of Oct having almost no activity. However, this year sure isn't typical.
I am going Oct 17 to 22 and am not expecting any systems.
But I will not rule then out!

Not to be a killjoy, but the Weather Channel last night predicted an even busier October as far as hurricanes go. :(

Sherri
(Down there during Ivan and now going in the aftermath of Jeanne!)

That includes Pacific Hurricanes. Florida Hurricanes are officially over. Just ask the 2.5 million without power, and 100,000+ with damaged property. Lest not forget Babson Park in Polk County FL that received 3 direct hits (First time in recorded history).

We are coming down for our first trip home in 8 days. Is there any news about any thing else that might be coming in the near future or are the storms heading the other way.

Thanks

Jeanne will be a Tropical Depression heading off the coast in the general direction of Bermuda and by Saturday will be meeting up with TS Lisa on the periphery of the Summer High pressure ridge which should push the both towards the northeast.

Well, hurricane or no hurricane.....If I can get into SSR on the 11th...I am there!!!!!

perididobay: I'm with you! We plan to be at VWL from Oct. 16-25 and I'm also not planning on any hurricanes!! Got to think positive!! but be prepared!

Well, I'm not sweatin' the WDW trip, BUT our VB trip is a whole different enchilada.
We always spend four days at VB before heading to WDW, but on our October trip it looks like we'll be activating our plan B.

Fortunately, our plan B consists of four days at the YC concierge water view , so we're not exactly roughing it. ;)

No new storms have formed after Lisa. She' s still way out in the Atlantic and is now headed north, not toward Florida.

I think one needs to come prepared for next few weeks that one could possibly occur while you are at Disney. Be prepared to either leave early or stay longer to ride it out. If you have to stay longer be prepared for the additional cost of that.

You might want to read what Webmaster Pete had to say on the subject of upcoming hurricanes.

I will be at SSR with my DH, DD 12, DS 9 and my parents from Oct. 8th - 18th. I am just hoping at this point that we have some good weather for even half of our stay! I'm also just looking forward to "getting away from it all" here at home so I can spend some down time with my family. As long as we are able to GET there I'll be fine.

Oct. 2004 SSR (soon!)
Aug. 2003 BWV
Oct. 2002 All Star Sports/BCV
March 2001 All Star Sports

I feel the same way MagikMom.....just getting away from it all is high on my list!!!

We'll be there the 11th-18th. We'll be the crazy old people acting like kids! . . . . . . .

Disney has a way of doing that to us!

Opal - was in either October or November - notice the "O".....

don't go believing it won't happen to you.

go with your eyes open and think along the lines it might happen - so bring the extra stuff you might need - small ones - battery lights - games to entertain the children - books - that type of stuff.

then if the power goes off or you are in your room for several hours the kids or other adults won't be driving you crazy - "we don't have anything to do"....

WDW is constructed to survivor these storms.
