When are my Points Available

As you can see, this is my first post. My question has to do with the availabilty of points when a trip falls between two months. If my use year is September and half my trip is in August and half is in September, can I use my September points?

You can use your September 2005 points for an August 2005 stay. However, you would be borrowing the points.

2005 use year points are good for stays starting on or after 9/1/2005 and ending on or before 8/31/2006. You could borrow them if you wanted to stay sometime between 9/1/2004 and 8/31/2005.

Keep in mind that if you have to cancel the August portion of your trip, you will lose the points. Borrowed points expire at the end of the use year into whcih they were borrowed. That means if you borrow 2005 points for a trip that falls within your 2004 use year, the borrowed points expire on 8/31/2005.

You're still going to use September Use Year Points, but they have to come from two different Use Years.

Suppose you want to go Aug 25, 2005 through Sep 5, 2005.

You would have to use your 2004 Use Year points for the Aug 25-31 dates, and your 2005 Use Year points for your Sep 1 - 5 dates.

If you look at a Use Year calendar, such as this one for a September Use Year, it will make sense:

Use Year.....Vacation Dates
2004.....Sep 1, 2004 through Aug 31, 2005
2005.....Sep 1, 2005 through Aug 31, 2006
2006.....Sep 1, 2006 through Aug 31, 2007
2007.....Sep 1, 2007 through Aug 31, 2008

LOL, you're right Carol. I didn't click twice either so it definitely must have been a board thing. The time stamps for the posts are interesting. I wonder if because you and I posted at the same time had anything to do with it.
