when do you start to pack and what do you pack for 8 days,we leave Thursday and my daughter is packing now{she has enough clothes so she can pack early}

Going in December and I already bought the sun tan lotion (hard to find the specific kind at that time) and I just stumbled upon my pop up hamper so I pulled that out too. I really won't start anything more until November. I like to take my time and put things together though. Have fun.

I start packing as soon as I get home.

We go twice late Sept - Oct and Feb as soon as we get homes I take out all the extras and stained items then just repack for our next trip. We do not need the cloths because we live in NE and as we know it is to cold to were shorts and bathing suits.

I usually start a few weeks...(okay..... 2months)ahead of time by putting some things in the suitcase. Things I know I am not going to use.. Like:

Ponchos, mini misting fans, white visor hat w/ different colored sharpies for autographs, etc.... Day before I do laundry and "officially" pack.


-pack each outfit into a large ziplock baggie complete w/ socks, underwear, etc. makes unpacking and picking out what to wear easy.

-When packing (Especially now that more will go in checked luggage) I divide up everyones clothes (ziplock bags) into eachothers bags incase one of the bags is lost/misplaced.

-Make a list of all items that is in the checked bag (including all items iny toiletries case) incase it is lost/misplaced that way if I have to make a trip to the store to replace items I know exactly what I am missing...

I usually start about 2 days before we leave. I don't have enough clothes to pack any earlier than that! I always WAY over pack but I'm also a "picky dresser" I may wake up and want to wear something but once I put it on I hate the way it looks...So I like knowing that I have enough clothes to pick and choose what I want to wear....Even though I end up buying new t-shirts to wear anyway. Now that I think about it..I might stop packing shirts all together and just buy new ones when I get there....

If I am lucky, DH will give me his clothes the day before we leave. Last year the plane left at 12:30pm and he packed his clothes at 8 that morning! He has more clothes than I do !!!!!

I start collecting things two weeks before and I pack my clothes two days before.
