Does anyone know how wheelchair transportation will work for Magical Express? We think we will use ME for our May trip and our daughter will be in a power chair.

I'm sure you'll be accomodated as long as you let them know in advance a membre of your party is in a wheelchair.

Thanks, Anne. Yes, I know they will provide wheelchair transportation. No place we've traveled is more accomodating than WDW. Besides, I imagine it is required by law. ;)

I just wondered if Tyler or anyone else knew if some or all the transport buses will have lifts or if seperate vans or something will be used.

We're looking forward to finding out for sure as well, as our DS is also wheelchair-bound. From the FAQs I have read, it looks like thay have invested in Wheelchair-Accessible Motorcoaches, so I believe we would either get on to the regular coach, via the wheelchair lift (ahead of everyone else), or if an accessible bus is not available, they would send us our own van, like Mears does now.

So if we get a bus with a wheelchair lift, we'll be regular DME passengers (just first on last off, like the Disney buses), which is fine with me. Otherwise, it's a van, in which case we have our own chauffeur, so that's OK too. I have signed us up for our October trip already and will likely book for February '06 as well. The CMs took note of everything when I was booking, and it seemed that they anticipated that we would be on a bus with a lift. I just wish it was already in place for our trip in 10 days (yay, only 10 more days!).

21 of the 37 new coaches purchased by Mears to run the Express will accomodate up to two Wheelchairs.

Make sure you indicate that you have a guest in a wheelchair when you make your reservation.

Thanks localdriver, that is what I was wondering. Once we have our flights and I call back to confirm, I'll have that info added.

Thanks to you as well, pumpkinboy. Have a great trip!
