Hi all,
We are going to AK in about 14 days and travelling with my disabled father in law who has Parkinson's. He does walk with a cane but we are suggesting to him that he get a motorized wheelchair for AK only. We remember the walking to be very tiring plus his sense of balance is slightly off. Can someone tell me how much it costs for a motorized wheelchair and where would he get one at AK? Does he need to reserve it before hand? Any details would be appreciated.
Thanks so much!

If you look in the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board, you will find all the information you are looking for.
What he wants to rent is called an ECV or motorized scooter (a power or motorized wheelchair is something a bit different).

Current Disney rental fee is $35 plus a $5 refundable key deposit. They do not take reservations. Generally they are most available if you arrive early in the day. If the park is very crowded and you arrive after about 11:00am there is a possibility they may be out of ECVs but more than likely will still have wheelchairs.

Actuially, if you are going to be at several of the parks it would make more sense to rent from off-site for the entire period so it can be used at all the parks. Also, some of the hotels have very long corridors.

Check the "disABILTIES! FAQ" for more information.
