Since my foot is in a boot, I will be taking a rented wheelchair with us. Do I need to be concerned about someone walking off with it?? Should I bring a bike lock to lock it up like when we are in restaurants and such??

I don't think you have to worry about someone walking off with it. However, if you do bring a lock be sure to only lock it to itself. Such as around a tire so if it needs to be moved to a stroller parking area it can be moved but it cannot be ridden off.

If you attempt to lock it to anything stationary (such as a fence, post, or tree) there is a very high probablity that the lock will be cut and it will be moved.

A number of years ago, probably 15. We rented a chair at the MK. My mother and I went into the shop on the other side of the castle (the left hand side). We came out just in time to stop a British woman walking away with our chair with her 2 little children in it. She was using it as a stroller for 2. How rude is that. When I approched her she gave it up. What was she thinking and was I glad we came out when we did. Ever since then my Mother will not let a chair we get at WDW out of her sight. Just my 2 cents. Our name was clearly marked on it. I still think about her sense of entitlement. Did she think that no one needed it. WOW!!

PLEASE do not lock it. I have been the person moving strollers and wheelchairs. If you lock the wheels so it cannot move, you prevent us from doing our job easily, but we still have to move it, particularly if it is parked in a non stroller/wheelchair parking area. If you do rent one from us and it is taken ,we will get you a new one free of charge. I never once had a wheelchair go missing while I was working there, it really would be a very rare thing.
