Wheelchair question

We are heading to Universal for the first time in a few weeks. My mother-in-law will be coming with us. We may need to rent a wheelchair for her if the walking is too much for her. My questions are - how much is it to rent a wheelchair (not electric one)? Should we do this ahead of time or can we do it the day we are at the park?

Thanks!

I don't know the daily cost of the wc but it should be on the UO site

If I see it, I'll post the info here

Wc can be rented in the parks

If you are staying onsite, I know the deluxe hotels have some that can be used by hotel guests for at the hotel only

I just found out that I will likely be in a walking boot or wheelchair when I go in about 6 weeks...not exactly how I wanted to spend my trip, but how does UO handle wheelchairs in lines? And are the HHN houses accessible?

Finally a question that I have experienced also

I had an injury and did the houses at Hhn in a wheel chair

Yea, it is doable and is not an issue

You probably will get more attention in one while you go thru the scare zones and houses

You can use the wc in the house lines and during the day for rides

I'm talking about the push wc
The electric wc is different

You might have to switch to a push one in some houses
Not sure until it opens if that will be required

For day park time if you have an electric scooter, you sometimes have to transfer to the push wc for rides

TMs have them available for all if it is needed

My husband had to use a wheelchair at hhn one year and while it is doable, it is a cumbersome task. I will caution you to not attempt the houses or really the entire event with your leg extended since it's dark and crowded. You may get bumped or worse case trip someone.

Ok, Thank you so much for all your help!! Transferring won't be an issue for me, although it might take a bit. The bigger issue is the excessive walking and standing, so at this point a wheelchair is sounding better than a boot. Do you know if a walking boot is an issue on any attractions? (I assume Dragon Challenge wouldn't be ok)

Good tip!! I hadn't thought of that, but can see that being an issue. Since at that point I think I'll be in a boot, but using a wc for exhaustion purposes, not being extended shouldn't be an issue!

I used the boot the year after I had to use the wc

Boot was doable for the parks and Hhn but it wore me out

It was heavy and cumbersome at times
When I got tired i started to sway while walking in the boot
The wc keeps you from getting worn out

But don't cancel a trip to UO or Hhn if you need the boot or wc
Go and have fun but take your time and balance if walking

We are definitely not cancelling, just trying to figure out what the best option would be to tackle the parks and not wear myself out...or the person who would have to push me!

I pushed my mother through the parks when we were there a few years ago...for 3 days! It was not an issue anywhere.

My wife has to use a wheelchair, never had a problem at the parks
or HHN. She can get up out of it to ride the rides. The houses at hhn
are dark and tight in some areas but I got advance skills in wheelchair
maneuverability. Never hit anyone.......yet.

We rented a wheelchair one day this January, unfortunately can't remember the price but did get a discount for annual pass. We just needed it for the parks so rented it near the park entrance. If this is what you are going to do, we were told we could return it to either park or also in city walk (We didn't know they were by the city walk security entrance). It is a long distance to walk thru city walk if you need a wheelchair. The rental location is straight ahead when you come up the escalator or stairs, easy to miss it you aren't looking for it. Have a great trip
