I've read posts on here in the past about strollers and wheelchairs used as battering rams and I couldn't believe it was true until my own DH's wheelchair was used as a battering ram last Sunday!
We were leaving Ohana when my 3 year old (who loves hitching rides with daddy on his wheelchair) decided to take the controller into his own hands when my husband paused to look and something. A poor, unsuspecting woman was walking in front of his chair when biscuit (DS's nickname) pushed the joystick strait ahead. I was walking ahead because I didn't know DH had paused when I heard a commotion and turned around to see a woman falling over DH's chair and for a moment I was terrified she would fall over the railing!
DH got DS to let go of the controller and DS was was bawling from all the shock and and yelling. DH was shouting apologies to the woman who scurried away so quickly (not that I blame her) that we don't know if she heard them or not. I'm sure she doesn't read this board, but just in case...WE ARE SOOOO SORRY and hope you weren't hurt in any way. DS hitches rides with dad all of the time and had never grabbed the controller before. I'm sure after this he never will again.
