wheelchair availability at parks

I've posted here before as we've been planning for our October trip. In January I experienced a trimalleolar fracture with many complications. Fast forward to now, and with the help of a great physical therapy team, I am walking again, without need for a cane. However, after walking for a period of time I do get fatigued in my bad ankle.
I suspect I will end up being ok during the days at the parks, but need a wheelchair when we return late afternoon/early evening. Are wheelchairs readily available then? (we are going the last week of October and would need a chair not an ECV).
I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Generally whelchairs are available at all times the parks are open, except for extremely crowded periods (which means not October).

However, you might want to rethink the half day concept. Everyone has certain levels of stamina, energy, and pain tolerence. If you have used up your levels in the morning you will have reached your limits, and the next day you will start with a lot less availability than the preceeding day. This is a cumulative loss!

You may be a lot better off using the chair for the full day, especially so you don't get the pain (which, in itself, will drain a lot of your energy).

While I haven't experience a trimalleolar fracture, I've had a TON of ankle trouble and did WDW last year from an ECV. This year, when we first started planning our trip, we were hoping (strongly) that the combination of the special shoes I've gotten (MBT shoes, to be exact) and more exercise on it, I'd be off my cane & able to, at least mostly, do Epcot w/o an ECV.

Unfortunately, while both things have improved things some, it's NOT been enough to make me think that there's much of a shot of not using an ECV. So, speaking as a fellow ankle sufferer who knows about having your ankle get worse as the day goes on, I'd say it might be better for you to plan to on having it, because WDW WILL wear you out. Also, consider an ECV perhaps, because that way you and whomever you're going with can be TOGETHER walking, instead of one in front of another. It'll be easier on their arms/legs/back, & let you keep going as long as you're up to it.

Whatever you do, Enjoy the Magic!
