Wheelchair and ECV Hire??

Hey Guys,

I am looking for some advice on hiring an ECV or a wheelchair. My MIL has a dodgy hip and struggles to walk great distances. We have managed to convince her that on the days she is struggling it might be an idea to hire an ECV/wheelchair? Or is it worth hiring one for the whole stay and having it just in case?

I have looked at hiring them in the parks and looked at some companies in the Orlando area but having never done this before can anyone advise me on the best options or has anyone used these companies and would recommend one?

Hiya..you will find a lot of help on the Disabilities part of the board. I was looking over there a while ago now when my DH had just had a hip replacement and we thought we might need a scooter. We found it was way way cheaper to hire from an outside company for the whole time. Luckily he didn't need one in the end as he recovered way quicker then we thought he would and his consultant said it would do him good to walk!!

What you need to remember is that Scooters are available in limited numbers in the parks, and are on a first come first serve basis.
At peak periods, if you park hop or come in late, there is always a chance you can't get one from Disney (worst case scenario though)
Disney is also overly expensive when it comes to strollers/wheelchairs/ECV rentals.
It will probably be cheaper to rent one for length of stay from an outside renter than renting from Disney.

Never used one myself but I do know that there are 5 approved Disney suppliers that can leave the ECV at bell services for your arrival.

If you use a non-approved vendor you have personally meet the driver to receive and return the scooter.
