My Husband broke and dislocated his ankle and is having surgery 4/7/05 and we are leaving on the Wonder on 4/10.

Does anyone know any companies that will deliver and pick-up a rental wheelchair to the Wonder?

Have you checked with DCL to see if they have wheelchairs? I know on CC they have them...

Another thought...have you talked with the surgon...or other DR. to make sure he'll be released by then? I work on an ortho floor at a hosptial...and sometimes pt will be kept a day or so...depending on complications or PAIN issues. And seeing that your sail date...and the surgery date are very close... well i'd just be checking...but that's JMO

Oh boy, I feel so badly for him. I just found out that my DD (8 w/cystic fibrosis) will need to be in a wheelchair on our land/sea trip on 4/20. My dad had told me that the parks charge $35 a DAY to rent. So, after a ton of calls he found a place that rents them for $25 a WEEK.

I looked at the rates on the website and they were quite expensive. I will try to remember :rotfl: :rotfl: to ask him for the name of the company and I will post it back to you tomorrow. I have a whole lot going on right now so I hope I will remember!!! Are you going to be in Orlando first?? Deb

TumFamily :grouphug: I have a DD6 with CF. We went on our very first DCL trip for her Wish trip this past Sept. We didn't need to get a chair for her...but I just wanted to say hi :wave2: ...Sometimes it's just nice to here from others in the same situation. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip. My thoughts and Prayers are with you and her...and of course on finding a cure.

Thanks StuartMI! Boy is Brevard expensive. $80 for 4 days (includes delivery and pickup from the ship). We already checked with Disney and they will not loan a wheelchair from the ship.

We are going to wait till after surgery today to see what shape he is in and what kind of cast they give him before we decide on our final options of renting from Brevard or taking one from home and having it available in the airport.

Doctor has already told my husband he will be able to go unless something unforseen happens durring outpatient day surgery.

I would appreciate any other suggestions from wheel chair rental.

We arrive Sunday AM at MCO and are taking Disney Transportation to the port.

It is most practical to research having a chair delivered to the ship or bringing one from home.

Thanks everyone.

Hi ScrapperJill --

Wow, another CF Family!! Of course, I forgot to get her the wheelchair info. Right now, our family is experiencing quite a few CF crisis'. I actually have two w/CF. An 11 yr old daughter w/cf too plus a 13 yr old son w/o CF (thank God).

Well, I am glad that your little one is doing well and I appreciate all of your prayers and kind thoughts!! Lets hope one day CF will stand for CURE FOUND!!! Deb

PArks charge $6 0r $7 a day to rent a wheelchair. THe $35 is for an ECV which can't be rented for a child anyway.

TumFamily....Some day it will :bounce: CF= Cure Found. Were in the progress right now in planning our local Great Strides event....do you have one of those near you? DH and myself chair the one here...it's alot of fun...and we know all the money we raise is going to a GREAT cause.

Good luck with getting the Wheelchair.
