What's your vote on best Deluxe Resort Restaurant?

For the most bang for your buck I would pick Cape May. Its great seafood, great location, and a decent price for all you get as a buffet.

Jiko
California Grill
Flying Fish

Jiko at AKL is very unique to me. AKL is a beautiful resort, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is wonderful.

California Grill was my #1 until I tried Jiko! The uniqueness of Jiko is why I rated it ahead of CG. The view is fabulous and feels very disney magic to me. The sushi is to die for here! I also love the pork tenderloin and polenta.

Flying Fish is another favorite. IMO, the atmosphere is not as "upscale" as Jiko or California grill but is a great setting. I like the boardwalk and the food is outstanding.

So hard just to pick one.....so how about one from each my favorite deluxes! Sorry but I could not decide between these three!:cool1:

Artist Point at WL
California Grill at CR
Kona at Poly

Mrs. Disney Ron

That's O.K. you can put as many as you want. :goodvibes

Citricos at the GF. The salmon there is OUTSTANDING!!! (if you're into salmon).

We HATED the California Grill. The only restaurant at WDW we've ever truly HATED.

Why did you hate it so much, most people love it, just curious. :)

Keep those votes coming! Funny, I thought there would be more variety but some of the same ones just keep circling around. Hmm, hope Disney is monitoring. :rotfl:

This is harder than I thought it should be, but California Grill is amazing. You look down on the Magic Kingdom, ever for a couple with no kids, the view is amazing. That being said, we find the food at Jiko a bit better, but not enough to beat the view of the California Grill....

I'll definetly go to the California Grill now, most of you can't be wrong. :)

Ditto for Boma at AKL. Good food, beautiful hotel.

I'm surprised that by this point nobody has mentioned Victoria and Albert's which is one of only 46 restaurants in the entire country with a Five Diamond rating by AAA.

I agree - I was astonished myself. It is obviously, hands-down, no comparison the number one restaurant in all of WDW. It's the only restaurant we consistently return to, and that has never disappointed us (culinary-wise; service-wise is a different story). Thomas Keller has nothing on our Chef Scott :)

Cheers!

Is V & A the only restaurant in property that requires a jacket & Tie? Thanks & keep them votes coming. :)

Also, how many days\weeks in advanced should you book, say, at CG?

I've heard if you stay on property, then you can book while you're there only a few days earlier. Is this true?

I might be staying at the Poly but not one soul voted for 'Ohana? :confused3
I wonder if maybe the food is just o.k. or that Poly fans haven't seen this thread since I haven't bumped in 3 days. :)

Artist Point is the favorite around here. DH is from WA so it reminds him of home. The food is amazing. I hardly ever like salmon, and I loved theirs.

I've only done Ohana for breakfast, but I do want to try it for dinner.

Ohana is not even the best restaurant at the Poly, and neither Kona Cafe or Ohana is going to compare favorably to one of the Signature restaurants.

Anyone can book 180 days in advance, and at the most popular restuarants
at prime dining hours, often you need to book that far in advance.

I am also voting for Victoria and Albert's (yes, men must have a jacket in
order to dine there, cocktail attire for women is the norm).

But really, I have too many favorites:

California Grill
Artist Point
Kona Cafe
Jiko
Boma

Those are usually in my top rotation of resort restaurants. I'm going to
Artist Point and Kona on my next trip.

Now that comment intrigues me. If you don't mind sharing, what was it about your CA experience that put you off? Can you share a bit of a review?

I've only heard of people either getting very, very lucky with last minute reservations for 'hot ticket' meals (such as my day-before booking of a Cindy breakfast during the first free dining promo in 2005!), or having help from concierge services (assuming they're in concierge level accomodations). I would NEVER count on ADRs for these places at the last minute, but I wouldn't totally discount the possibility.

Personally, I'd try booking as soon as possible, at/after the 180 day mark. I hadn't thought we'd try CA Grill (too many credits to accumulate over our short stay), but after all these comments, I'm beginning to doubt myself!
