Whats your thoughts on the Royal rooms at POR?

We liked them, but they are a little pricey for the effect. My kids were pretty much over the features after the first day. They are also a bit far away from the food court and main pool. They aren't any worse than a lot of other locations at POR though. It was cool to do once, but I definitely wouldn't pay the extra money again.

I just spent 10 days there in June!! It was worth the extra cost to me. The rooms are really well done. I booked a standard view room and was lucky with my room location. It was a short walk to food court and buses (a little bit further to the main pool).

I really loved POR and would stay again!

Nice, but too expensive for what you get. I woudn't do it again.

We liked them too.

I think the decor is pretty gender neutral and I would even say it leans on the masculine side. I liked the luxe feel of the room; the drapes are very heavy and ornate...IDK...I liked it. I think I enjoyed the fireworks headboard more than my DS12 and DH. I would hit it last thing and first thing when the room was still dark and the drapes were pulled shut.

Staying in the RR was our first visit to POR so I can't compare the rooms to a non-RR room. We were in Oak Manor and I didn't think the distance to the common area was very far. I think it seemed far because you had to walk over a bridge to get there, but we were closest to the boat service side and it was a very fast walk there.

I don't know how the furniture compares to the other rooms, but we found the bench to be very handy. It was a third seat when we ate in the room. It was a second nightstand when we were chillaxing and watching Wimbleton. Moving it opened up some extra floor storage space. I thought the bathroom room area had great storage...the shelf above the double sinks was large and fit everything our family of 3 brought. The under shelf was huge and there was a shelf extension on the bathtub that was also very handy.

I think I agree with the PP that said they wouldn't necessarily pay to stay RR again. It wasn't so special that you feel the need to repeat, but I also wouldn't avoid it. And I'm not sorry at all that we stayed there.

My girls were eight and eleven last March and we stayed in both the Bayou preferred and Royal rooms in a split stay. They both agree that they liked the royal rooms best even though the older one is not a princess type girl. Both were great though. We will probably book the royal room again this March break.

Loved them!!! Very well done with no detail spared. We would (and are) stay(ing) here again- and this is from a deluxe gal! ;)

I have not stayed in one, but have stayed at POR many times and IMO, not worth the additional cost. They are in Oak Manor and Parterre Place mansions, and some of the rooms in Parterre Place can be pretty remote. Both buildings are a decent hike to the main pool. Might be cool to do once if you have a big princess fan, but seems like a lot to pay for differing decor and a mediocre location.

We just stayed in one June 19-22. We loved it. We were in Oak Manor in a corner room - we booked standard but we were really close to the quiet pool. We were steps away from the parking lot - we had a car - and just a few minutes from food court/main pool. We thought the room was beautiful. It was our first stay at POR.

We stayed in February 2013 in a pool view. We were about 25 feet from the quiet pool. My kids loved that. But, we felt like it was a bit far from the food court & main pool. Especially when we wanted to refill our mugs with hot chocolate after an evening swim. The decor was nice but like someone else said my kids were over it after a day or two. My DH felt it was too "girly". It was a nice stay but I don't think we would do it again.

We have stayed there twice and our DD's love them, every night before going to sleep they would turn the fireworks on the headboard to fall asleep too. The 2 times we stayed in the RR, we were in the Oaks manor GV and it was a short (5 minute) walk to either the main pool or FC or bus area. To me that is not a hike or a far walk and is one of the reasons I like them, because we know that our room is in either Oak or Parterre. You go accross the bridge between Oak and Parterre to go to main bldg or FC and if you want to go to the main pool you head right and use the bridge between the other 2 mansions which connects right to the main pool area.

I thought the rooms were cute, the small touches were nice. We stayed there for the wow factor for my daughter. Ya! that didn't happen lol. She was five at the time and I wanted to surprise her with a princess room. She kind of laughed at me and asked to go to the pool.

Moral of my story..... from now on mom will choose a resort/ room for mom and dad. leave the parks to the kids lol

We paid extra for a pool view royal room as they are closer to the food court. It was expensive but still $800-$900 cheaper than the cheapest deluxe. My main reason for choosing the resort was for the royal room. My 6 year old daughter loved it! She never got tired of the fireworks headboard. We did our own fireworks show every night. The little touches in the room were great! She still has her special letter from Tiana welcoming us too. I say it is worth it to do once. I kept the room a surprise until we got into it and am so glad I did!

Ten nights in a Royal room in the fall, "standard" view but we were steps to the quiet pool, not near parking and literally a 5 minute walk to main building. We would even catch the bus at main building. LOVED the room, the decor and attention to detail really made it feel more deluxe. If it's in a trip budget I would def stay again! :thumbsup2

We stayed in a GV royal room last October and requested oak manor. We had a lovely room facing the fountain and it was a short walk to the Foodcourt and main bus stop. The rooms were beautiful, and I'm glad we stayed there. I'm not sure that we would pay for them again, but def nice to try once !

We are staying in a Royal Room in Nov, the week of Thanksgiving. I'm kind of excited to see them because we have only stayed in the AB section. I had to get the RR- garden view though because its all they had left at the resort for free dining. Otherwise I would have booked a preferred room in AB.
