What's your supply chain issue? How's this one for a start?

I know you don't like the food and are not impressed by it..that's also why it made more sense why you shared the article. Long lines at Chick-fil-A aren't because of worker shortage, long lines at Chick-fil-A aren't because people don't like the food.

The pictures you shared don't look any different than what was pre-pandemic in my area. So I'm left with your area just discovering it all of a sudden (or anyone else's area where there's suddenly long lines). Regardless that's still not related to the article you posted about them estimating about 30% losage of customers due to their long lines. That issue existed before the pandemic and is just felt more during it.
Best year in their history actually during the pandemic. https://www.restfinance.com/restaur...cle_26ec54da-9b30-11eb-a0b5-dfff0ec78fa7.html

The other day I noticed Shop Rite was practically wiped out of cream cheese, both blocks and tubs of whipped. They had blocks of SR brand widely spaced to make the case appear a bit full.

Specifically I was looking for Kraft (Philadelphia) whipped cream cheese with veggies. Nope. SR brand would have been OK, but the only tubs available were with salmon or other yucky flavors.
Same here- no Garden Vegetable Philadelphia Cream Cheese for about a month now.

“CNN reported in March that Costco and other retailers are facing a cream cheese shortage along with other items including olive oil and seafood. Along with the usual supply-chain issues, the shortage of shipping containers impacts the supply of cream cheese. According to retailers, some large ports on the West Coast like Los Angeles and Seattle are facing bottlenecks, which is creating issues in securing merchandise for consumers. Another problem that's making the shortage issue worse is the shortage of truck drivers for inland travel.
An additional short-term issue impacting the cream cheese supply is the cyberattack on Schreiber Foods. It's one of the world’s largest suppliers of cheese and other dairy products, based in Wisconsin. The attack impacted the company's plants and distribution centers. However, the company has made progress in resolving the issue and part of its operations have started again.”
from The Market Realist October 28, 2021

It bears mentioning that there is only one plant manufacturing soft Philadelphia cream cheese … in Lowville, NY. On top of a worker shortage, Lowville is in Lewis County which has the highest COVID19 infection rate in NYS. So that certainly isn’t helping things.

Because yeah let's just pile onto the mess that has been going on sheesh

My wife has been on a binge of cooking recipes with cream cheese the past few weeks. Cream cheese brownies. Creamed spinach and creamed cheese mashed potatoes, no shortage here.
There is no money in running refrigerator items out of Wisconsin. The dairy state of Wisconsin cannot find truck drivers because they make no money delivering refrigerated items, because they can only drive so many hours a day. With the price of diesel and keeping their trailers cold, there is no money to be made.

Grandchildren have taken over my life. 4 boys born in the last year and 2 were identical twins. 8 grand babies under 5. We drove 3 times out to CT this year to see baby, then Christening and just got back from our Fall trip. My daughter that used to live in Chicago moved up to Wisconsin. It was always nice to stay by her for the night and not push that last 3 hours home. Another crazy week starts Monday, I work, then head to my daughters to help with the twins and their sister till bed time.

I can sell your man a fully functional International Harvester but supply and demand will dictate the price 😉
So true, luckily he has very good working relationships with the sales Rep. And they are holding their prices.

so very sorry. Haven’t seen that in USA yet. I don’t know how anyone could like that.

We're having a terrible time getting cat food in the US. One of our cats has a lot of food sensitivity issues and Chewy has been out of our go-to brand for months.

Yup. We're able to get it at our local Petco right now, but with 4 cats we miss the volume of Chewy! Amazon has some but same issue of limited quantities. Apparently beef is hard to get!

Actually, you raise a good point. Since California is the largest dairy producing state, I suspect our supply of cream cheese is made right here.

So do I. I ordered a red Mustang Mach E. We have a plug in hybrid Pacifica and love it, so we are ready to take the plunge into a full electric vehicle.
My son bought his third electric car yesterday. Volkswagen ID4. Got his final lemon law buy back check for his Hyundai Kona electric.

What's the cat food you're having issues with? Dry or wet?

Every time I see someone mention pet food it makes me freak out a little bit lol.

So far we haven't had any issues with the wet food which is purina one smartblend pate. While we primarily buy the turkey flavor our cat isn't picky about the flavor and will do the chicken or beef and likely even the seafood one.

So far we've only had 1 blip of an issue recently. We get ours primarily from Petsmart. About a month and a half ago I ordered 24 cans (as that's 1 case worth so it's easy normally for them to just give me one that hasn't been opened yet and is still packaged all up in plastic) but they only gave my husband 12. Normally if they can't fulfill an order as it was ordered I get an e-mail that they had to adjust it. This time I didn't get an e-mail and it was because they never logged it as an incomplete order. If I had been the one to pick it up I would have told them to just give me 12 cans of a different flavor but in the moment my husband didn't think to ask that so what they immediately offered up is they would just cancel the order electronically, thus giving me a refund for the whole order (which was a bit over $20 when that was for 24 cans) and then have us just keep the cans. But that's been the only bigger issue. Usually if a location hasn't had 24 or 48 cans (as sometimes I purchase 48 at a time) I can select a different one that has it.

Now his dry food has always been harder to find because it doesn't seem like they stock it very much. It's the Purina One Healthy Metabolism/Ideal Weight formula. Way back last year there was an issue when it didn't seem like anyone had it in stock but Amazon and Chewy but the price was about $15 more than normal (which Chewy was the same price but Amazon was 2 day shipping) but haven't had issues since.

Okay now to go knock on wood that I'm not jinxing myself:rotfl:

I would look into feeding them raw. I order mine from a company called Darwin's and they ship it 2 day air frozen. As far as I know, they are not having any issues since they use the same meat that we would eat, my cats like the chicken. Not to mention the health benefits to it that can eliminate their food sensitivities because it is their natural diet. It is expensive, but with research and the right ingredients and supplements, you can even make your own.

We badly need new appliances. The dishwasher is dead, and the fridge and stove are easily 30 years old. I can't find anything that we can afford in stock anywhere and they say it'll be months until delivery if I order.

We checked on furniture that we bought Memorial weekend and made the down payment by June 1st, so we could get it by Christmas. We got a phone call and said it is going to be delivered Jan 25th in store and our delivery date is Jan. 27th 2022, and they hope to still have delivery people. She said almost every other month someone quits and they need to retrain. Otherwise we can pick it up. I asked her if we could cancel without a cancellation fee and she said yes. We went looking and the price of furniture sky rocketed. We found someone in Green Bay that makes furniture and they are 6-8 weeks out, maybe 3 month. So it would be the same timeline when we get our other furniture. We looked at Costco and the prices are $4,000 - $5,000.

I went to Costco Thursday (senior hour in the morning) to order my biennial pair of glasses, one regular, one sunglasses, both tri-focal. Costco is the 5th largest optical supplier in the US.

The employee taking care of me looked up my account and record and then asked if I would like either bifocals or Transitions. I thought I knew what Transitions were, but asked to confirm my thoughts. She said what I thought they were, lenses that adapt to the lighting conditions, clear to dark, dark to clear. I replied no, neither, I would like my usual (for over 30 years now) trifocal regular and trififocal sunglasses.

She said that it would be at least several more weeks to fill that order, all the lens blanks used for trifocals are on ships out in the Pacific waiting to unload. She said it's been a long time since they have had trifocals availabe for the normal one week or less delivery time. She said they were hoping for supplies before December. So, I will be wearing my 2 year old glasses for some time yet. 8-)

I guess the supply chain issues are deep and wide, even in places I would not have thought of.

How about you, have you had any supply chain issues in the past year?

Personally, I haven’t ordered anything this year, but a friend of mine just received towel bars from Pottery Barn that he ordered in March, and another person I know ordered furniture in May and they are still waiting for it - they were told that it may arrive in March (Walter E. Smithe).

Our fridge is over 10 years old and I know people that waited a long time for new appliances - we may order one soon instead of waiting for this one die. This way I’ll get what I want and not take whatever is availabl, if something is available, because we’re desperate.

Maybe I’ll make a ricotta cheesecake around Christmas if I can’t find cream cheese.

I noticed Dollar Tree had a “creme cheez” spread and “sour creme.” Fake stuff.

And in the Christmas candy section, that bottom level manufacturer Palmer had some “Milky and Chocolatey” items. So no milk and no chocolate in them. It’s the first time I noticed “milky” on a label.
