What's YOUR Superhero Identity? ;)

I had to laugh during the entire superhero conversation because I actually do something like this during the first week of school. I have my students create their own superhero identity, write about their powers and how they help others, and draw themselves in their costumes. It's a great community-building activity and they always have a great time.

What's MY superhero identity, you ask? Grammar Queen. I even have a shirt with that on it.

So, what's your superhero identity? powers? costume?

I love this idea...DSIL is working on a year-long theme with superheroes next year and I gave her some great ideas and we keep brainstorming about it...do you have anything else you could add on this and I would then pass it on to her? Any other related ideas? We have a program where an arts group will come and work with the kids on this theme as well, using film and cartooning, etc... I was very excited to read your thread...thanks for being a teacher who gets creative with kids...it means so much to them and to their parents!

Oh and superhero identity...I could be GrammarQueen's sister as I share that similarity with you...DH would probably say I am SuperHearo with my enhanced hearing although it could be Smellogal as I am always sniffing out and cleaning things, including DH and DS! Not sure of my true identity...it may be none of these and something quirkier still!

One of my clients is an organization that works with children with mental health issues. One of techniques they use is the, “What kind of super hero would you be and what powers would you have.” It brings out a lot and can be a good defense mechanism for the kids. Wish more teachers would use ideas like this.

OK, my super alter ego would probably be funny bone. I try to find the humor of everyday life.
