I've been baking like crazy for a while now. Typically I make around 12 or so different types of cookies for Christmas. Everyone seems to have a different favorite in my family. My favorite are Rainbow Cookies-a pink, yellow, green layered "cookie" that is made with almond paste and covered with chocolate. They can be found in everywhere here on Long Island. I'm not from here so I never had them growing up.
So what's your favorite?

{{sigh}} I never make my own favourites because nobody but me likes them and I end up either eating them all or throwing them away - jam thumbprints rolled in toasted walnuts and filled with raspberry or apricot jam. :lovestruc

This year I decided to only make exactly what DH and DS asked for in hopes that the baking would actually get eaten - butter tarts for DH and fudge for DS.

They're called melting moments...

It's a shortbread ball with icing sugar icing on top with a silver ball. Sooooo good.

Those are my favorites too! I haven't made them in a couple of years.

I bake the favorites of each person in my family: chocolate chip, hershey kiss cookies, cut-out/iced sugar cookies and chocolate raspberry bars. Then I usually make some white chocolate Christmas bark to make the cookie plates look festive. With DD9 as my assistant, it takes us three full days to get everything done.

Our family isnt big on cookies at Christmas except for shortbread, and German lebkucken which I have to buy because they're so hard to make. But everybody likes the butter tarts, mincemeat tarts and coconut walnut bars that I only make at Christmas time.

I have a friend from Long Island and fell in love with those rainbow cookies! I'm just waiting for the chocolate to harden so I can slice them :) I also make peanut butter/ Rice Krispie balls, sugar cookie cut outs, church windows (chocolate& marshmallows), Oreo truffles, and snicker doodles. And pizzelles! I'm not a baker, this is the only time of the year my family gets all this!

I like chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, etc. but they're not Christmas cookies per se. For Christmas I like what I think are called Spritz cookies, where the dough is loaded into a cylinder with interchangeable discs and you press a level to place the dough onto the cookie sheet. Or sugar cookies cut with various Christmas shapes with cookie cutters. Red and green sprinkles on them.

When I was a kid, I thought there was some small cute woodland creature called a mince that was killed to make mincemeat pie. :scared1:

So far, nothing anyone has listed has disappointed me LOL. I'm like "ooh, those are good, oooh, I like those, too!" I love coconut macaroons.
Ooooh, that's my "almost" favourite but not the heavy, sticky type you can buy. I love my Dgrandma's recipe - more like a meringue with coconut (light and crispy on the outside and a little bit marshmallow-y inside).

Yes, I love those, too! I love meringues without coconut, too. Also haystacks with the chow mein noodles in chocolate or butterscotch chips

My favorite cookies for Christmas are, well..."Christmas cookies", LOL. In my family the Christmas cookie cutout dough is not quite like the standard sugar cookie dough. Similar, but a little less sweet and spiced with nutmeg and cloves. :goodvibes Then they are iced and sprinkled as normal.

I like a lot of different cookies, but from the ones my family members make at Christmas, I think I most look forward to the peanut butter ones with the Hershey's kiss in the middłe.

favorite for me is chocolate chip, hot out of the oven

DS's is chocolate covered cherry
DD's is sugar cookies and chocolate chip cheesecake bars
DH's is peanut butter blossoms......usually with a chocolate kiss. I used Hugs this year and he likes that better

other favorites: gingersnaps, snickerdoodles

I do not discriminate. I will shove my face full of any cookie offered to me. Lol.

But I like chocolate chip...anything red velvet related..any kind of thumbprint cookie...oooooh, lemon bars!...oh, those 7 layer magic bars...

I, uh...I just like them all. :rolleyes1
