What's your favorite wine?

My favorite wine right now is Francis Coppolla's Blue label Merlot, 2000 vintage. I bought it in NH for about $15 per bottle and in PA it's about $19. It has the smoothest finish of any wine I ever tried.

If you haven't tried any of Coppolla's wines, you should. He makes a Rosso (means Red) wine that is only about $11 in PA (with all of our high liquor taxes.) It has been one of Wine Spectators top wines under $25. This one is made under the Niebaum-Coppolla label.

So, what can you recommend that I try?

I too like Merlot.... I think I'll try the one you mentioned. SeaShelley and I did the wine tasting on DCL and had a wine called Moscato..... I have yet to look for it here though..... but it was delicious!!

I tried Dunhill, I am not a big wine drinker, i go to the hard stuff but I did like it. Just the next day it soured my stomach, Hmmmmm, maybe I wasn't suppose to drink so much

Usually either a Riesling (Schmitt Sohne is a nice winery for it) or a Chilean Cabernet (by a winery called Concha y Toro, or something like that).

AAHHHH Moscato! That was great wasn't it Mermaid??!!! I really liked the Merlot we had at dinner onboard...don't remember what it was. I do remember our server Martin offering to cork the bottle and bring it to dinner for us the next night. Nice thought, but before we knew it....the bottle was empty!!

Steve, a good winery for Riesling is Chateu Ste. Michelle. It's a Washington state winery that has made consistently good wine through the past several years. Crisp and fruity.

RUD...you beat me to it. I love this Reisling! I first had it at the Olive Garden. I really like it!

Do you have a Costco near you? Sometimes I luck out & find the Coppola Merlot ( a favorite of mine ) at Costco for around $10-11 dollars. I also like the Blackstone Merlot & the Beringer Merlot. Beringer makes a good Pinot Noir too.
Cakebread is a favorite Chardonnay.
I find that Sam's & Costco have great wine prices!

Oh, how I wish I could buy wine at Sam's.. no Costco nearby. BUT, PA only allows wine to be bought in state-run liquor stores.

I think that's why there is so much tax on wine here... to pay for the state store employees.

Where is Cakebread vinted?

Cakebread is a Napa winery and they have some nice cabs.

I'm also a fan of Fess Parker. V&A serves it at WDW and Hooke's Point serves it at DLR.

My passion, though, is ports. I've got a cellar full of mid-90's vintages just waiting to get old.

DH and I have been hooked on Caymus Conundrum since our Disney Cruise this spring. It's costly ($30 here in Indy) but YUMMY!

Caymus is a Napa vineyard. Their description of the wine is:
a proprietary blend-Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Chardonnay, Viognier and Muscat Canelli...a rich, dense wine that coats the palate with big fruit flavors...the finish is almost dry but the sense of ripe fruit persists.

Of course, our old standby is still Sutter Home White Zinfandel. Yep. I'll admit it.

I have several favorites! One is St. Michelle Chardonnay and the other is Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse. YUMMY!!!

Oooh! I also like Sokol Blosser Evolution! It's alot like Caymus, made with 9 different grapes, but it's only about a 1/3 of the price!

Way too hard to narrow it down, we are big wine drinkers here.

A favorite chardonnay is Cakebread. Other vineyards we enjoy include Acacia, Byron, Frei Brothers, Far Niente, DeLoach, Hess...oh geez, there really are too many to list.

Living in So Cal we have many wonderful California wines in the stores at decent prices.

NONE! I don't like the taste of wine, but I can drink it if it's sweet and white.

Sauterne is good very sweet white wine. I tired it for the first time in EPCOT.

Elk Cove Vineyard has a Pinot Noir blend out that is out of this world, and was less than $10.

Toad Hollow wines have always been really good, and the labels are a blast. I find those written up in Food and Wine pretty often, but have never paid more than $25 for any of theirs.

We like several locally produced wines. The winery is Breitenbach. They have a sweet white: Frost Fire, a blush: First Crush and their Millenium wine; a pink chardonay. They are all very good and have won numerous awards.
We have tried and like other wines that they produce as well.

I only like red wines, so my choices are skewed that way. My favorites are Pride Cabernet Franc (a cab blend), Goosecross (love the winery itself), BR Cohn Olive Hills cab, Beaulieu Vineyards (BV), and Hess. Can you tell I like the Napa region? If you can get them, '94s and '97s are the best years, though I hear this year is supposed to be excellent again.
