What's your favorite, hidden gem resort restaurant?

Kona Cafe at the Poly seems to get overshadowed by Ohana and some of the "nicer" seafood restaurants, but we loved our meal there last trip.

Olivia's food always has been good.

Olivia's food always has been good.

We had dinner at Olivia's on our last night at WDW in April and I wasn't impressed. My DH went beyond nuts over the bread but other then that I thought the service was sub-par and the food was just OK. Now on the other hand Maya's Grill (I can't remember which resort it was in at this time) was the best meal we had in our last 2 visits. I had the steak and OMG was it delicious!!!! We have already said that we will go there at least once on our next trip. And I have to say the deep fried cheesecake, yummmmm... I'm drooling just thinking about it.. OK.. gotta stop, I'm getting hungry :guilty:,

Shutters at the CBR is our hidden gem. When we stayed there it was always our first night dinner. Excellent food, atmosphere is somewhat lacking, but it's definitely a hidden place!:thumbsup2

What a great thread. Just subscribing. Thanks for the info.

We love Cape May Cafe, at the beach club. they have an awesome character breakfast buffet!! A must on your trip!

Spoodles is so under rated as well, they have a great selection and a fun atmosphere!!

I also love the Garden Grill in the land in Epcot. The food is amazing and not too weird ( traditional family style meals) and the atmosphere is great too, I love how the resturaunt rotates and you get to see the living with the land attraction down below you. plus they have Mickey, Minnie, Goofy ect characters walking around in the resturaunt they make the experiance A++.

I also wanted to say that im so sad to see L' Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante leave. Im gonna miss it! but if I know Disney something even more fantastic will rise from the ashes.

Does anyone know what that little fish and chips stand is called in epcot by the gates to the world show case? They have great haddock!! checkum out! :ccat:

All this talking about food is making me crave disney dining!!!! :rotfl:

Isn't that the Rose and Crown?

Thanks for so many good ideas. Our trip is in 2 short days! I am very excited.

One hidden gem of mine is a counter service resort restaurant -- The Mara in AKL. I was impressed that I was able to get a few of the items from the Boma buffet menu down in the Mara. It's not just chicken strips, burgers and fries. I remember enjoying the delicious chicken pepperpot soup and zebradomes.

Hi

Trails End at Fort Wilderness

Rich

Trails End at FW.:thumbsup2

I agree with these two posters, Trail's End is still the best kept secret in WDW. Great food, good value, with a nice setting.

Kona is also another great resort secret. This rumor seems to have escaped because it is much busier these days!

You can not go wrong with either dinner or breakfast at Kona or Trail's End!:thumbsup2

It's the Yorkshire County Fish Shop! We love it too. On our trip last July we ate there during EMH and wanted more. We actually shared it. Looking forward to eating there for a snack and eating at the Rose and Crown. Love the fish and chips and you've got to try the Welsh Dragon drink! It's so refreshing after sitting in the July sun!

Turf Club Bar and Grill!!! Ate there on day of arrival and went back another time because we had another TS credit to use up. The calamari was outstanding. In fact, everything was outstanding! Highly recommended.

Out of the TS places we ate 5/24-5/31(In order of Yummyness):
1) Shulas
2) Turf Club Bar and Grill X 2
3) Marekesh
4) San Angel Inn
5) Trails End
6) The Plaza
7) Hollywood and Vine

Turf Club ranked a very close #2 to Shulas. #'s 3-7 were not even close.

Is the Turf Club a "dress up" kind of place, Bruce? (We are looking for one for our teen DDs who want to dress up, but don't want "dress up" foods.)

No, not at all. It is a very casual pub type of atmosphere.

Thanks for the info! Guess we need to keep looking...

We love Olivia's. But for a really hidden gem, try the Sand Trap restaurant at the Eagle Pines/Ospry Ridge golf course.

So excited to hear great reviews on Olivia's. We just had a daughter named Olivia and didn't know about this restaurant until about a month ago. We have booked dinner for our next trip and we're very excited.

My favorite place is Concourse steakhouse for breakfast. It is quite busy there for dinner, but we go there every trip for breakfast. It is not busy at all and the food is spectacular.

On our last trip in August we stayed at CSR and loved Peppermarket for a CS meal. It had excellent options and good steak. Also, the Mayan Grill was excellent. We canceled a park ADR one night and got a reservation there instead. IT was great.

I say Oliva's too! The food is outstanding and the service is great!
