What's your favorite dining room?

Love the menu at Cariocas! I enjoy animators palate on the classic ships, but find Crush too loud on the new ships.

We love all the dining rooms. Each has it own unique atmosphere.

DH is a picky eater........meat and potatoes. He always find something that he likes. And, as I keep telling him, you can always go get a hamburger by the pool.

You can find some of the menus here:

Favorite: lumiere's/triton's. I like that they feel less crowded than the other dining rooms. And I love them for a relaxing breakfast! :)

Least favorite: Parrot Cay.

Ah, very interesting! I hadn't realized that the Main Dining Room menu selections were tied to the restaurant itself. In that case, I might have to split my choice! From our recent 3n cruise on the Dream, my favorite dining room was Animator's Palate, based on theming alone. That surprised me as it is my least favorite on Magic and Wonder. However, AP was my least favorite menu ... and I wasn't alone. Others at the table picked at "multiple appetizers as none of the main courses were appealing." Even the dessert menu in AP left me wanting other choices. For the menu, Enchanted Garden was my favorite -- including the Warm Date Pudding (?).

FWIW, the Dream's Enchanted Garden left my DH feeling crowded. He was convinced it was too small a space for the number of guests -- but didn't feel likewise at either RP or AP. He also expressed missing Parrot's Cay on multiple occasions. Hmm, how interesting. It seems EG's theming and layout was a miss for both of us.

I'm in the minority here but I don't care for Animator's on the Dream or Fantasy. It is too loud and the I feel the last night with the drawing is way over rated. Your picture is only on the screen for a few seconds and they rush you through the meal so you have time for it

Exactly! Animator's is a fun and beautiful restaurant, but it's just too much on the fantasy & dream. Every time a new picture lights up, it's cool, but the whole room starts screaming about it. And then the last night, having to shorten my meal to hurry and get my drawing done, just is silly. I love cabanas for breakfast & lunch...gotta love that view! I really like Triton's and Royal Palace at dinner. Obviously, Palo is out of this world for food and the views. My family always finds something we love or new to try on any of the menus, so my dining preference is based solely on atmosphere.

We've only sailed on the Dream and the Wonder but we loved them all. (even Parrot Cay!) If I had to pick one I'd say Tritons and then Royal Palace. I like the classic, but not too fancy, menus and the overall feel.

Is the Animation Magic on the Fantasy always done on the 2nd rotation? We sailed the Fantasy back in 2012 but ate in Palo that 2nd time we were scheduled in AP. Our kids ate in AP with our friends and my parents and they all said we missed a good show.
So this time I chose night 3 for Palo. Whether it's a great show or annoying, we'd still like to see it to decide ourselves.

Thanks

I love to eat and am excited about the food on a cruise (my first cruise coming up), but I'm such a picky eater!! What if I hate everything? And end up eating simple meals. That will be a bummer! I can do that at home! I need a sampler plate to decide what I like. Lol

Unless the second night is Pirate Night, yes the second dinner in AP will be the animation show. So, if you go to Palo on one of the first three nights of the cruise when they have the rotational menus, you will not miss the animation show.

And I think it is definitely worth it to see it once. I belong to those who do not enjoy it, but as you said, everyone should make up their own minds!

It's kind of like the Villains show in the WD Theater, as we all walked out the first time we saw it, dh & I said it was awful and our teen boys said it was awesome. I sat through it a 2nd time on another sailing with friends and she told me after, "Why didn't you just tell me it was so bad?" lol. When I told her I wanted to let her decide for herself she told me she would have believed me and would have just avoided it. Yet her teen son enjoyed it too.

AP for sure with a caveat......on our cruise last November, DW surprised me with concierge and wanting to put the separate dining area in our suite to good use, we ate in every night. Only the 2 of us, menu selection from any rotational dining room, water view, outstanding service plus NICE AND QUIET!!!!!!!

I love the theming that Disney does all over their ships and especially with the dining rooms. Animator's Palate on my first cruise (Magic 2001) amazed me and I loved Parrot Cay. To me it was so much fun and very tropical - my very first trip on a cruise and first trip to the Carribean - PC just added to the whole new world experience. I thought AP on the Dream was pretty cool but I was wishing for the old style.

First of all, the whole dining experience will be different from any meal at home - starting with the fact that you don't have to cook the meal yourself.

Also, your servers will be happy to bring you something else if it turns out that you do not like what you ordered. I had this happen once. Our server saw that I was picking at my dish and asked if there was something wrong with it. I said it was fine, but not to my liking and immediately the dish was removed a menu handed over and I was asked to tell him what I wanted as a replacement and within minutes I had a new dish in front of me. You can also ask for sides to be substituted and for sauces to be served on the side.

My favorite was always Parrot Cay -- the OLD Parrot Cay, before they took everything down for the Med in 2007 and made it the least themed and decorated restaurant on the ship! We were very disappointed to see what they had done to it and the menu. The original was my favorite until the Pirate Night menu became my favorite. Lumiere's was my favorite once they ruined Parrot Cay.

My DH and DD always loved Animator's Palate -- both on the classic ships and now. Animator's Palate has now become my favorite on the new ships as I love the fun atmosphere and colorful decor. Enchanted Garden is nice too, but too dark for me.

I have not been on the Magic or Wonder since they made the restaurant changes, so can't comment on the new one that replaced PC.

Triton's on Wonder, Royal Palace on Dream/Fantasy. I like the elegance and more subdued atmosphere.

I'm not a big dinner and a show kind of person so AP seems frentic, crowded and overly loud.

And sadly in Enchanted Garden I'm always distracted by teacup (those cute booths that not everyone gets) envy!
