I think we want to do ONE character meal while we're there. The only stipulation I have is that it's not the princess one b/c I don't think my son will enjoy that. :lmao:

I really really wish Capt. Hook was at one. Our son would love that. He loves the Captain!

We like Chef Mickey's. I have a 9 yr old daughter and 6 yr old son. DD is too old for Princesses ( or so she declared last year..Mom's not but she is) so Chef Mickey's has characters that both boys and girls like. The location at the Contemporary is great and easy to get to and the buffet has something that everyone likes.

Ooh, I just realized there's a restaurant board. Guess I should have asked this there.

I love the breakfast at the Crystal Palace because it's so huge & yummy (go easy on the breakfast lasagna because it's really dessert). The only thing I didn't like was that some of the characetrs didn't actually circulate - you still had to line up, but the line was very small.

And the lunch at The Land is great - family-style & the characters keep moving.

1900 PF for Cinderella's Dinner by far!!! It has the best food out of any buffet dinner AND the entertainment is hilarious!!!

By the way, if your kiddo loves Captain Hook, make sure to take a pic of him dueling the Captain near POTC (across from where Captain Hook and Smee sign autographs)

How old is your son? My kids like Chef Mickey, Hollywood and Vine (little einsteins and jojo), Animal Kingdom breakfast (I think it recently changed names so?)

We have done Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends, Chef Mickey's and Cinderella's Royal Table. I would say that we got the best pictures and interaction at CP and the buffet was the best-in our opinion. But the family photo at the beginning of Chef Mickey's was truly the best and the characters are more frequent. For us that was a negative, 'cuz it was difficult to get food and get 4 kids settled in the 10 min. windows we had between characters. Have a great time!

We too only have a boy currently and although he really doesn't care who he has a meal with 2 of our favorites have been Chef Mickey's and O'Hana breakfast. We've done Chef Mickey's for dinner once and I will never do it again. I wasn't impressed with the food or the wait.

It is roomy, the food is great, they don't rush you, and they really work to make sure that everyone gets a chance to meet and take photos with the characters.

If you book the earliest seating you may be able to get into the park early...we did that once.

This visit we did an early seating and I sent my older son to get FPses for the Safari while my other son and I waited to be seated. It was wonderful...we ate, took pictures, and then walked right onto the Safari!

IMO...this meal is the best thing about Animal Kingdom!

My DS was 10 yrs old for his 1st Character Meal
and we went to "Ohanas Best Friends Breakfast" at the POLY Resort.
He loved it because it has: Lilo, Stitch (he is bad and sometimes
plays tricks), Mickey and Pluto.
The characters are dressed in Hawaiian clothes (they
are not rushed as much as other Character meals.
The food and atmosphere is great. This is a Family Styled
meal so they will bring the food to your table (all you care to eat).
We have eatten there for 3 years in a row and it's still our
favorite. I also enjoy touring the POLY after eating and then
hoppinig on the Monorail to go to MK (it's very conventaint).

The next one I would suggest for a boy is "Tusker House
Donalds Safari Breakfast" because it has Donald, Daisy
and Goofy. Located in AK. This was a fun one also.
The food is a Buffet and very good.

My favorite is either CP or Akershus in Norway, but my dd's favorite is Chef Mickey's.

I love the food at CP and Akershus and the character interaction is great too. I am not a big fan of CM's (the characters are good but the food is so-so) but since my dd loves it we will do all three again on our next trip.

Chef Mickey's is our favorite. We've been trying to get to all of them over the last few trips, but Chef Mickey's still wins!! Lilo and Stitch at the Poly are fun, too, but we prefer the buffet style meal at the CR.

my DS5's favorite restaurants are Chef Mickey's and Cinderella at 1900 Park Fare. We also really like The Garden Grill and Crystal Palace. the Supercalafragilistic Breakfast at 1900 Park fare is good too. The Mad Hatter is hilarious and the food is great!

My favorite is crystal palace. I've done their breakfast and lunch and both were awesome, and I did not feel rushed at all. I found the character interaction to be better there than at chef mickeys, but I might have gotten a slow day at cm. Chef mickey's and Ltt are the only other's I've done.

We did LTT which no longer offers a chara meal (it was dinner, which was a nice change from all the b'fasts)

We also did Chef Mickey and Ohana

The chara interaction at Ohana was far better....but I didn't care for the food selection (esp for the price I paid...2 adults and 2 kids were $75)

Chef Mickey's food was good...a nice selection....but the chara interaction was just ok (nothing to write home about).

ps..I have 2 boys!

We love the Crystal Palace. I have 2 boys. We did the early reservation last time to get into the park early. It is really neat to walk into mk and the streets are empty. They have a good selection of food. We didn't have to line up for any charactors. They all came to the table. Also we like the Garden Grill for lunch.

Breakfast at Beach Club! I'm drawing a blank on the restaurant name right now. We have done lots of character meals and this one is always a favorite. The character interaction is the best! The characters spend so much time at each table and they ususally come around 2 or 3 times. We always get a late seating (10:30 or so). Oh, I remember - Cape May! And the food is good too!

I really really wish Capt. Hook was at one. Our son would love that. He loves the Captain!

Not dining, but a lot of times he was across from POTC. We had pics made with him & Smee

We loved Chef Mickey's. All of the characters came by our table and posed for pictures. They intereacted with the kids a lot. Pluto even put a banana up to his ear like he was talking on a phone. My 4-year old thought that was just the funniest!

Ok, since you said non princess, I would have to say Tusker house in AK, and Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's.

We just got back, and did all of the, they are all great!!! Akerhus was great and Cinderella gala feast at 1900 was amazing! Put they are Princesses.

Have fun! I have been back a week tomorrow, and already going through withdrawl!!!
