What's your experience with Fidelity resales?

In March, I found the contract I was looking for at Fidelity. The seller accepted my offer, contracts were signed, and we were ready to go to ROFR.

Here's a recap of what I posted in the ROFR thread:
  • I received an email on 3/30 saying the contract was submitted to Disney.
  • On 4/4, I received an email saying the contract was submitted to Disney.
  • After seeing several posts that many people who submitted after me had passed ROFR, I contacted Fidelity again. Today, I hear back Disney received the contract on 4/11.

What the what? Is there something in the process that I'm missing here? Does Fidelity have snails hand-deliver contracts? Has anyone else had similar situations with Fidelity?

I suppose I might be a little over-sensitive to timelines, because they contract has some expiring banked points that need to get scheduled or rented ASAP. Sigh.

Attempting to calm the bleep down, ;)

There's a number of not-entirely-positive Fidelity resale threads floating around the boards right now. From other reports, sounds like they may be a bit overwhelmed at the moment.

i have tried to remain positive about my experience with Fidelity. they were poorly staffed for the 3/20 rush and seeing as how i was one that waited till the last minute i tried not to place too many expectations on them. however, they could definitely improve communication and speed. i honestly believe that the only reason my contract has progressed at a reasonable rate is that i have stayed on top of them. it is bad enough for me as a buyer to have my happy moment delayed, but i couldnt imagine being a seller and relying on them to get something done quickly. i imagine sellers must be as frustrated as us buyers are now. again, i dont want to misrepresent anything here. they have always been polite, they got the job done, there were not any mistakes on my contract - i just didnt get the service i anticipated / expected.

would i use them again? i guess it depends on the contract. if it was good enough - probably. but i would lower my expectations.

I really don't have anything good to say about them.
I called them once (pre 3/20) made an offer on a listing to Rachel, was tolded she'd get back to me.

I still haven't heard back from her.

Called again on another listing (post 3/20) again, got Rachel.
I made an offer and was told she'd get back to me.
A week later, I'd heard nothing so I called her.
She said she didn't think the seller would accept my offer.
I asked if she had presented the offer, she said yes but went on to tell me she couldn't tell me the seller had rejected, or accepted the offer!?????

I told her I thought the seller owed her and I an answer one way or the other, Rachel agreed and said (wait for it) 'she'd get back to me' :lmao:

Still haven't heard from Fidelity.
I have since Feb purchased 4 other listings from 2 other agents so I don't think "it's me".

I'm amazed Fidelity stays in business in spite of themselves!

I purchased 3 contracts with them prior to the rush and had a very positive experience. I went through another broker recently who gets glowing reviews here (not Timeshare Store, not Fidelity, so you can probably guess! ;)) Submitted the contracts in late Feb, and I just received the closing docs. :confused3 I think this 3/20 date rocked their world, and is continuing to do so. I don't think it's going to slow down for them for another month or so based on what I am hearing from her.

If you used who I'm guessing I believe they use the same closing company as Fidelity. I just got my closing docs on 4/22 for a contract that passed ROFR on 4/11 so didn't have those problems. I did send them a note asking for that date because we were seeing two people who needed to sign the docs for Easter. We keep my parents names on the contracts so that theirs and ours are one membership. Now, they got them back along with check on 4/25, we'll see how long it takes to actually close.

Yes. I know who you're talking about and I won't say it.:littleangel:

But does anyone know why they can't even be mentioned, but everybody else can?

While I've found that this whole process is taking a long time with them I don't have anything bad to say about them. They answered my questions timely, presented low offers that the big one basically laughed at me for. In the end I paid $48 pp for SSR and no MF till 2012.

Yes, I'm waiting a long time, but the money I've saved was worth it to me.

I bought resale from them and started the process maybe 3 days before the deadline. I was very happy at how quicky everything was done.

I also bought a contract thru fidelity and thought it went smoothly.

I did request to use a different closing company (anyone other than timeshare title and more) and our closing was quick.

Rachel was also willing to present my offer even though 2 other agents at other companies told me that I wouldn't get anyone to take my offer.

I purchased 150 BWV points with 150 banked 2010 pts for $55/pt

i would use them again.

Did any of you who used Fidelity need to have documents notarized? We just received contracts and they have a space for a witness to sign, not a notary. Seemed odd to me--we usually have to have things like this notarized.

Thanks, everyone, for sharing your experiences. It really does seem that this 3/20 bomb has confounded them. I'll just keep hoping for the best!

We used Fidelity pre-3/20 and so far it has gone smoothly. Their communication definitely could use improvement but I have to believe a lot of that is due to the recent volume. As all the research I have done on this board, it is part of the inconvenience with resale. I can grin & bear it for now. Closing doc's were sent 2 weeks ago but no confirmation yet if it closed.

As for the notary, nothing we signed needed to be notarized. The contract required witnesses, but the closing doc's didn't. We did have to send copies of drivers licenses with closing paperwork.

We bought a small contract through Fidelity to beat the 3/20 deadline and we were happy with them. :)

I made an offer through Rachel and was accepted. It took her a little longer to get the initial paperwork to me, :confused3 but with every thing all the resale shops were going through I was satisfied.

This was our second resale so I knew what to expect this time. We didn't NEED to use the points right away and that helped keep the anxiety down as we went through the process.

And while I don't think they are as efficient as TSS, they had the contract that suited our situation better.

Some of the things you can do to help your buying situation is:

1) Do your homework ahead of time and KNOW what you need and want as far as a contract.
2) Fax your documents and use a credit card for the deposit.
3) Once the contract is signed and returned, do not call them every day to see if it was presented for ROFR or passed ROFR. (that's the hard part)
4) Sign and fax your closing documents the same day you receive them and have your money wired to their account by your bank. It will only cost a little more to do this than sending it via snail mail when you use overnight postage.
5 ) Sit back and enjoy the process popcorn:: until you are notified that you have closed and then wait patiently until your points are listed by Disney.

What I think they could do a better job of is communicating with the buyer a little better, but then again, they were buried.

I thought Judy from Timeshare Title and More was very good and I would not hesitate to use them again. :thumbsup2

I hope this helps.

I called Fidelity to make an offer on a contract yesterday. They got right back to me and made my offer quickly. I thought they were very helpful and I wouldn't hesitate to use them. Unfortunately my offer wasn't accepted and they didn't have any other sellers they thought would accept my offer. They still took the time to go through all of the similar contracts with me.

Are you buying or selling? When buying I've never had to get anything notarized (except an oddball document for GCV). When selling there's tons of notary forms.

I am currently waiting for the closing documents for my contract from Fidelity. I passed ROFR on 3/29 and I just called them to check on my paperwork since it has been 4 weeks. After being put on hold they called the title company and I was told that I will be getting the paperwork next week :scared1: I mean come on! I don't blame Fidelity directly, because I have had no problems with them answering my questions or responding. BUT, their choice of title company reflects poorly on Fidelity since they are the company that is handling the sale and the people who you almost solely interact with.

Since February I have both and brought and sold contracts through TTS and everything was processed very quickly and smoothly. I just happened to find another small contract with Fidelity that I also wanted so I decided to give them a try, but I think this may be my last time with them unless they change title company.

As PP's said, they were overwhelmed due to the deadline and they still are not caught up.

I am on my 2nd contract with Fidelity. The first was with Rachel. I found a new contract back in February they had listed and was very leery about using them again. This time I contacted Sharon and the process was much smoother. Sharon would respond to my email/phone calls within minutes where the first time around with Fidelity was much different. Now I am waiting on the Title company to do their thing so I can try to use some banked points before my AP's expire!

my closing documents did include a couple (two) instances for notary. luckily, i happen to know one - so it wasnt a problem. we sent everything in today. we'll see how it goes from here.

btw - we are buyers.

we're buying and our documents don't say anything about a notary--they only say "witness." There's no place for a notary seal. We're sending them back without notarization so I hope we don't need one!
