What's your child's bedtime ? w/ age please

My ds is 2 and we start bedtime stuff bath, teeth brushed, jammies on and prayers usually by 8:00 and once that is all done most nights he is asleep w/i 10 minutes but there are a few nights it takes an hour.

My dd gets her bath, brushes her teeth, jammies on and prayers usually before 8:00 because she loves the Goodnight show on SPROUT. So she pauses it during dinner gets her bedtime stuff done then grabs a quilt and pillow and lays on the toy room floor and watches the Goodnight show. She loves it and usually get so sleepy we find her in bed asleep. But if she doesn't go herself she is in bed @ 9:00.

They are both up between 6:30 & 7:30 AM.

Our oldest dd, 11 is a figure skater too. She skates 3-5 times a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays are 6:30 am practices. She is in her bed at 8:30, teeth brushed, pj's on, etc. and she is allowed to read until lights out at 9.
She doesn't require alot of sleep and if I let her stay up until 10 she would still skate happily at 6:30 am; but.......as a parent of an athlete I think it is very important to ensure she is a healthy one.

MANY of her friends stay up until 10, her best friend "doesn't have a bedtime"??? and that is great for them (the kids and their parents tell me too), as parents we all have the right to make the decisions we feel are best for our child and their circumstances. My daughter wants to skate 1 1/2 hours before school and in order to do that we demand good grades (or else she would lose the skating priviledge). I think that a 8:30/9:00 bedtime is very reasonable at that age.

Her cousin, a competitive swimmer is 15 and has always had an 8:30 bedtime. Sure her friends make fun, but she is a great kid, very successful in her sport, a straight A student and not hanging at the mall at 8pm - she's showering for bed! She has a great social life but it's at the pool, supervised and pg-rated! :) I hope my kids turn out just like her! ;)

It sounds like our DD's are alot a like! She skate 2 mornings and 2 evenings a week , and also does Tae Kwan Do on Tuesday and Thursday nights. She is on the all A honor roll too and if she drops below a B then she can't skate. Maybe they can be pen pals. PM me if she is interested :goodvibes .

My DD3 and DS1 go to bed in the living room with us at 8:00pm. Some times they are up at 6am other days they sleep in untill 8am(usually the day DH gets up with them).

Someday I might try to get them to fall asleep in their own beds!:lmao:

DS14(almost 15) 9:30 but I let him stay up on Weds to watch Lost w/us

DD 18 11pm but on weekends whenever she is tired provided she is home by 11pm

We start bedtime routines by 7 pm every week night. They each have a bath and brush teeth and a little down time and in bed by 8 PM. DD is almost 7 and DS is 2.5. DD has to be up at 6:30 to get ready for school.

8:30 for both the 10 & 5 yr old. Though this will change in 1.5 yrs when we get to MS and the bus comes at 6:50 am.

Ds-will be 3 in June goes to bed at 7:00 pm, no naps, wakes up at 6:00 am

My girls are 5 and 7 they are in bed at 7:30 and up at 7:00:goodvibes

Tell her my dd has the earliest bedtime in 3rd grade too. She goes in at 7:00 and lights off at 8:00 after 1/2 hour of reading and 1/2 hour of a dvd. I heard it too - all the other kids go to be 9 or 10:00. Oh well, we don't!

Good to know--thanks!! :)

DS9(will be 10 in May) - 9:00
DD7 - 8:00-8:30

DS 5 years old - bedtime is 8:45 pm and he's usually up by 7:15 am.
DD 2 years old - bedtime is 8:45 (and usually layed in the crib around 9:15) and up around 8 or 8:30 am. No naps.

My DS's 5 and soon to be 9 go to bed at 9:00pm, and get up around 6:45am. Any later and they don't seem to function as well the next day.

DH and I are considering wheather our 9 pm bedtime is to early for our DD 10.

She skates at 7 am on Tuesday and Thursday mornings so we always TRY to get her down by 9 pm every night. She has no problem getting up in the morning when she stays up past her bedtime and other people tell me their kids stay up later than she does.

My daughter is 9. She has to be in bed by 8:30, at that time, she can read a book or write in her journal until 9.

My son is 5 and he needs less sleep than his sister, so he has the same bedtime as she does.

I am a firm believer in early bedtimes. The routine starts early, so they are in jammies with teeth brushed by 6:30. Then they (DS4 DD2) watch a show for 1/2 hour while DS has his breathing treatment. Then it is off to bed for a book. Lights out by 7. They are up by 6:30 and talk or read quietly (they share a room) until we get them around 7. They have always had early bedtimes and have been well rested, happy kids. This also gives my DH and I some time, or some mommy time alone. Works for us! Oh, and DD is in her bed for 1 hour in the afternoon. Sometimes she sleeps, sometimes she reads.

We have 3 1/2 year old triplets and they are put down around 7:30 but
chat so probably around 8 do they get to sleep.

DD5 - in bed at 7:30 pm for a story, lights out before 8:00 pm
DS8.5 - in bed at 8:00 pm and reads until 8:30 pm (unless we forget to check on him - he has been known to read for hours without checking the time!)

On weekends, we allow about an hour extra for each of them. As other posters have said, they seem to get up at 7 am on their own on weekends, but have to be woken up during the week!

DS 10 goes in at 8pm and sometimes stays up for about 30 minutes after. He has to be up at 6:15am to get ready for school as he leaves for school at 6:45am.

do what works for your family!

FOr us, the girls go to bede at 7 and are usually asleep by 7:30 (They are 6 and 4 1/2). I will keep the boy with me (20 months - they all share one room right now) and do his Physical Therapy and put him to sleep out here, or they will keep each other awake. He is usually asleep by 7:30 - 8 at the latest and the girls are asleep 9 times out of 10 when I slide him into bed.

My 4 1/2 YO will be up by 6:15, the baby around 7 and the 6 YO around 7:15.

The baby will nap around 2 hours in the afternoon right after lunch.

We keep this schedule year round, weekends, too, although I"ve been known to "go crazy" and let them all stay up until 9 on occasion, but rarely and never 2 nights in a row.

Good luck to you!

We have a 10yo, a 6.5yo and a almost 2yo. Everyone is in bed by 8pm, but I do not mind if the older two read, or watch a little tv until 8:30pm-9:00pm
