What's your child's bedtime ? w/ age please

DearTwins-7 and DS 6 are all tucked in at 7:30. Some nights they watch TV and fall asleep wtith the TV on a timer, sometimes they listen to music with a timer and sometimes they read and occasionally it is some type of combination of the above. They generally get up around 6:30 or 7:00. Weekends and summer they usually go to bed around 9 or 10.

It's amazing to see all the different times.

My girls are 7 and 10. They've been going to be at 8:00p for years. Weekends and especially vacations are quite another story. We are more relaxed about them.

BUT, I've been getting flack from my 10 year old that all her friends go to bed at 8:30p or 9:00p or 9:30p. Even my DH told me he thought it was too early because somehow it came up at work and his co-workers kids go to bed at 9:00p.

So lately its been more like 8:30p but its tough because they sleep in the same room and my 7 year old still needs all the sleep she can get. She's always been that way; taking naps till 5 years old and sleeping later than her sister in the morning.

I forgot to say that they get up at 6:20a school days and various times on weekends but no later than 8:00a.

DS6 8pm, wakes 8 am. Right now he is pm K, next year though school starts at 7:50 am so we'll need to leave here at 6:50 am, so something with sleeping will need to change.

DS3 9pm (just can't get him down earlier lately) and we wakes about 6:45 am and naps from about 2-4 pm. I want to cut the nap down to a little over an hour and move it more around 11 am. I'm hoping that will get him to sleep more around 8 pm. I don't mind the early wake time because next school year, we'll need to leave to get his brother to school

DS 18 months goes to sleep about 7:30 pm and sleeps til about 8-8:30 am. He also naps about 2-4 pm. I wish he'd nap 11 am- 1 pm. Then everything there would be perfect.

I've never really set a time for them and have left them to what works naturally for them.

WOW! We are so NOT the norm! I never realized how NOT the norm we actually are until reading this thread.

My DS3 goes to bed at MIDNIGHT. Yes, midnight. Sometimes even later. He sleeps until around 10:30 AM, some mornings later. He's been on this schedule pretty much his whole life.

Why, you ask, does he have such a wacky schedule? Well, it works for us. He doesn't go to daycare so he stays home with my DH. My DH is a deputy sheriff who works 3-11 PM. When DH comes home he has to unwind so he usually stays up until 2 or 3 AM. So in order for DH to be able to sleep late, our DS needs to sleep late too. So DS stays up until midnight.

I guess it is truly whatever works for your family. But in a few years when he starts school this schedule will definitely change!

My DD will be 2 next month. She is in bed by 7pm and awake on her own by 6:30am-ish.

She also still takes a 2-3 hour nap daily.

I'm totally spoiled, but attribute it to our consistency with her schedule.

My DS is 10 and on school nights he is in bed between 9:00-9:30 (he is usually asleep within 10 minutes) and is up by 6:45. He has never had an early bedtime, even when he was a toddler. Now he plays football and baseball; when those sports are in season, we don't even get home until 8:30 or later. On weekends and during the summer (I am a teacher), bedtime is up in the air. DS likes to be asleep before DH and I go to bed, so he usually goes to bed by 10 in the summer.

DD 18 months is in bed by 7:30 at the latest, but usually at 7pm. She is awake by 6:15am every morning, no matter what time she goes to bed. She naps 1.5-2 hours every afternoon. I don't know how long it takes her to fall asleep. I'm pretty tough on schedule and sleep so I put her in the crib and leave.

What can I say? I need the ME time.
