What's your child's bedtime ? w/ age please

We have 3 1/2 year old triplets and they are put down around 7:30 but
chat so probably around 8 do they get to sleep.

That just sounds so incredibly cute...althought it might not seem cute if you're trying to get them to sleep.

ETA: My boys are 4 and 6 and they both go to bed at 8:00pm

ds 12-9pm
dd 11-9pm

weekends 10pm and summers are pretty much open :)

We've always been on the early side here. DD12 swims four days a week. Two are nighttime 7:15-8:45 so she's not home til 9:15. A lot of the kids she swims with didn't even want to come in the winter because it's cold, dark, etc. She loves it . . . . prior to this year she didn't even think anything was open past dark! Anyway, on non-swim nights it's 8-8:30p.m. for DD12 and 8p.m. for DD9. We do let them read in bed for a while. They think it's a treat . . . . we think it's great for them to read and quiet time for us! DD12 does complain from time to time but nothing changes her early morning wakeup. We talked about how everyone is different . . . she just functions best early to bed and early to rise. I think it's a very individual decision for each family and child but the priority should be that the child is able to get enough rest.

Daughter is 6 1/2 goes to bed at 7:45, 15 minutes of reading to her..lights out, asleep by 8:10. I wake her up at 7:00Am. She has always been a big sleeper, do the same schedule on weekends!!

22 month old triplets here!! They are in bed between 7-7:15 - they chat too and usually fall asleep by 7:45

Mine are 11 and 13 and most of the time it is 9 that they have to be in bed by. They can read or watch tv in bed though. I am having to stray from it a lot lately because of track meets and other things and I can tell a huge difference in my daughters attitude on nights she has to get in bed late. I hate how life gets in the way of my schedule sometimes lol.

DS5 and DD3 both go to bed at 7 and get up between 7-7:30 AM - everyone in my family always says "that's so early" but it really isn't, kids NEED sleep (plus my family isn't running after them for 12 hours a day!) If I was half as active as my kids I'd need to sleep 12 hours too :jumping3:

My step daughter is 7 and my step son is 4. We do baths in the evening. Those are at about 6:15-6:30ish...after baths it is into PJ's...by 7:30 we are brushing teeth, going potty and picking a dvd to watch. They are both IN BED with the lights off by 8:00. Both of them get up at the CRACK of dawn. We had to make it a rule that no feet are allowed to touch the floor until 7am.

SD is going to be 8 soon and we may increase her bed time a bit. Perhaps 8:30ish. She tends to lay in her bed and pontificate internally about all sorts of things. She's a worrier. So if we tire her out, she'll sleep better...we hope.;)

If your DD has no trouble getting up in the morning and wants a later bedtime, see how it works. Just let her know that if she is a grouch in the morning and has a hard time getting up, you'll go back to the original bedtime.

My bedtime was 9 when I was young b/c my sister's was 9. We were SO the envy of our cousins. They had to be IN BED by 8. Boy I sure did stick to that number. I hated to be in bed one second before 9 and my bratty cousin always said as soon as we were in the door for a visit "You have to go to bed at 8 TOO"... She was and remains the worlds LARGEST BRAT. :)

My son 7 goes to bed at 8:30 and wakes up at around 7. I have heard of really early bedtimes and really early bedtimes so that doesn't suprise me, but I am suprised by some of these long bedtime routines. If I am reading right some of your bedtime routines last as long as two hours by the time bathes, books, movie/tv watching, teeth brushing and everything is through. We have a 30 minute bedtime routine and that includes a bath every other night, a devotion, drink and prayer.
An article that I read recently explained planning a bedtime using a checklist. #1 does your child get enough sleep. People are suprised at how much sleep young children need. Do they fall asleep in school, put their head down...get cranky, too hyper...? #2 Do they miss out because of either sleeping in or going to bed too early? This could be missed field trips at daycare because of late arrivals, missing out on family meals because of a too early bedtime, not being involved in events, late to school..and things like that. #3 Does the bedtime allow for you to

My child is 5 (and a half) and has an 8 p.m. bedtime. She gets up on her own around 6:15 to 6:30, and I need to have her up by 6:45 to get ready for school.

If your daughter isn't having any problems sleeping or getting up, I would think her bedtime is about right. If she's tired and cranky all day, you might want to re-think it. When I was 10, I remember I went to bed at 8 and got up at 6:30 only with an alarm clark, but I've personally always required lots of sleep.

My girls are 3 and 5. They both are in bed by 7:00pm and sleeping by 7:30pm. They usually wake up around 6:00 - 6:30am. My 3 year old still takes a 1-2 hour nap most days as well.

DS 12 goes to bed at 9pm unless he get in trouble which can make it a bit earlier. He wakes up at 6am without a problem. At age 10 and younger it was 8:30. On weekends and holidays he is allowed to stay up till whenever and now that puberty is here he can sleep all day if I let him. I think each child is as different as each family dynamic and what works for one child or family doesn't always work for another. I know of kids who have no bedtime but I know my son would not do well with that since his natural clock is like mine and we are both night owls who love to stay up late and sleep in so routine is a must.

dd4 and dd2- 8:30 pm....they usually get up around 8 am.

My dds are 7, 5, and 2. I lay them all down at 8:00pm.
It takes dd7 a while to fall asleep, she s usually sleeping by 9:30, she'll just watch tv. We thought maybe we were laying her down to early, so when we tried 9pm, she was up til 10:30, she just needs to lay down and relax for a while.
My dd5 usually falls asleep within a half hour
And dd2 is a nightmare, she's so difficult to get to sleep!

DS10 - 8:00 read till 8:30 but usually crashes - needs the most sleep - must get 10 hours just to function properly

DS8 - 8:00 read till 8:15 but again, usually crashes - doesn't need as much sleep but wakes up at 6:00 so he is very tired at bed time

DD6 - 8:00 - crashes HARD. She is in all day kindergarten and she is just worn out at the end of the day.

Our oldest (also an Emily!) always had a hard time falling asleep. When she was about 7 she really was catching on to reading. We would let her read before bed and she thought that was such a treat. Still to this day she reads (sometimes for over an hour) before bed. I think it will be a life long habit for her. It really helps her relax.
