I may have asked this ages ago, but i love hearing them.....

anyone got an interesting story of the ride breaking down on them or something?

Ive been down the inside of the matterhorn at DL after the ride came to a halt at the top. Those guys in costumes arent just for show! They climbed up in full costume and walked us down.

I was also on the first run of space mountain after it broke down once and they sent us through with the lights on. It was so much more scary because you saw just how close the tracks run together.

Back when the Davey Crockett Canoes used to operate, we saw one of them sink but we were not on it. A bunch of what looked like college aged guys were goofing around and it turned over. It was quite the spectacle.

Breakdown in "It's a Small World".

Have never ridden it since. 'Nuf said.

Denise < --- decided her personal HELL has IASM theme music playing in the background... ;)

Our son, who was 8 at the time, was cruising around the speedway alone when, for some reason, his car stopped. My DW and I were waiting outside the fence along the speedway waiting to wave to him and get his photo. We realized there were no cars coming around in his lane so we began to walk around the outside of the track. We soon saw him sitting there with a line of angry drivers piled up behind him. Before I knew what was happening, my DW leaped over the fence, ran to his car, jumped in and finished the race! I have a photo to prove it!

I've had a lot of weird ride experiences. RnR Coaster with the lights on, scarier that way.

Universe of Energy running out of energy in the middle of the dinosaur era.

A guy (intoxicated on E-ride night) jumping out of the splash mountain boat in front of us shouting "BUNNY!!!" (this was about 5 years ago, not the fatal accident 2 or so years ago).

Getting stuck on Small World over Christmas break 6 years ago, not because it was down, but because the boats were SO backed up. We stopped barely halfway through, and just had to wait our turn. Have not ridden the ride in 6 years.

Carosel of Progress...everything was fine, except the guy's mouth didn't move during the 2nd scene...creepy.

Riding Space Mountain with the lights on.

Stuck in the 5th dimension (right before the drop) on Tower of Terror ALL BY MYSELF AT 2AM. Talk about scary.

Last summer, I rode the Carousel of Progress when it was not working properly. The lights did not come on for the entire first scene. We were warned of this at the beginning of the ride, but it was still weird to sit through the first scene with the audio playing but in complete darkness. After 5 minutes or so sitting in the dark, the children in the audience started to get uncomfortable. A CM opened an exterior door to let some light in.

On a balmy spring E-night, DH and I were riding the TTA when suddenly Mickey Mouse's voice came over the speakers!

He said "Helllllooooooo!" in that high squeaky voice. DH and I just stared at each other slack-jawed. Again, "Heeelllllooooo!" followed by "Wave hello to me!", which we did rather sheepishly. "Thank you, I get so lonely out here!" which started us laughing and looking around. We never saw anyone but assumed it was one of the ride operator CM's getting bored- it was a lot of fun and a good laugh!

Got stuck in the middle of the final incline on Splash. Over and over we heard "Looks like Brer Bear and Brer Fox are causin' some mischief up yonder", or something like that. We were stuck for about 30 minutes. Not comfortable leaning backwards in a log for a half hour. ;)

We also got stuck on It's a Small World for 25 minutes. The children of Holland now haunt my dreams:eek:

TOT stopped during the first lift (not the dropping shaft). Everything was dark, nothing was moving. I said "uh-oh", knowing that this was not part of the show. Somebody in front of me said "you got that right". We sat there for a little while. After we started again, it was OK.

Another time on TOT they had some kind of problem and we rode with all the lights on. After the ride they offered us another ride to experience it the way it was meant to be seen.

We got stuck on Pirates during E-night once. Right at the end. We could see the CM working the exit, standing at a podium. He never looked at us or acknowledged us in any way while we sat there for 20 minutes. We finally started yelling at him and miraculously, started moving. I think we were the only ones on the ride! Diana

I had never ever been stuck on any ride in WDW until last Sept.

I got stuck on BTMRR on the second big hill climb (inside the tunnel with the rocks creaking away). I was in the last seat of the train and the heat was AWFUL! We were there for quite a while before we got moving again.

I also got stuck on Test Track. It was about 8pm and the park was dead. As a single rider, I was seated with 5 people all from the one family. I guess they must have forgotten I was there. We must have gone round about 4 times, each time the CM saying "Do you wanna go again?". It was only on the fifth time round they remembered I was still there and were like "OMG! Honey do you wanna go again?" Luckily I did ;) but just as we got on our way that fifth time, we stopped right before they check you seat belts. We were there for a good while before we got going again.

I also got stuck at the end of Splash Mountain (the Zip-a-dee-doo-dah room) for a good while. I was just so glad we didn't get stopped at the little water fall near the end. I'd've gotten soaked!

All on the one trip! :p

My dh and I also got stuck on the TOT. When the gate opened for the car to ride on the last floor before the drop our car got stuck. We sat in the dark hovering for about 20 minutes. There were some truly freaked out people in that car. We were escorted out and were allowed to get right back on the ride if we wanted. We went ahead and rode, but about half of the car said no thanks and just left.

I was stuck with my mother and brother on It's A Small World for 45 minutes at Disneyland Paris, not fun at all, it was during the big grand finale also. They finally came and put a plan across the water so we could get out of the boat and walk behind all the scenes. I haven't ridden any version since!

I was stuck at the bottom of Tot once before, just after the movie started playing and the car started rolling backwards. It stopped, all the lights dimmed and we sat there in the dark for about 20 minutes, it was pretty creepy.

We were stuck once on Pirates, in the section where they sing Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Pirates life for me, for about 20 minutes. Everyone was singing along by the time we started moving again.

Another time we were stuck a few feet from the bottom of the shaft of TOT, they got it lowered the last few feet, but then they couldn't get it to turn to face the exit doors. First you could hear the voices of the maintenance guys (kind of reminded me of Alien Encounter!) they were crawling around under us trying to release something. We were there for 15-20 minutes. The first-time riders were starting to freak out a little. It was hard to tell at first how high up in the shaft we were.

we were stuck in the pirates ride too at the same spot. finally, the cms came around in rubber waders and let us out the back exit.
but they warned us not to take any pictures or videos---the only thing un-disney-like back there was just the garbage dumpsters and even they were clean!

POC - yo ho, yo ho for 20 minutes - we were stuck there too. Must be a bad spot in the tracks!

DH got stuck on the Great Movie Ride for a half an hour last trip. It wasn't a bad experience for him, however I was panicking about being late for Fantasmic! I almost left him there.

Does anyone remember, back in the mid-70's, a Fantasy Land ride where when you wait in line you hear a recorded voice saying over and over and over, "please step to the left, please step to the left, please step to the left, please step to the left"???Maybe it was Mr. Toad? Anyway, DH and I both talk about it because it drove us absolutely nuts! This was back when the lines for EVERYTHING were an hour wait.

They used to have that recording at the skyway, I believe. It you didn't step to the left, you could get hit by the next car coming around.

We got stuck in Universe of Energy during the dinosaur part. The big joke was that we were stuck in Ellen's nightmare. :)

It was cool, because the CM's came on and said we could video and take as many pictures as we wanted. (The lights were all the way up.)

A Spanish family was sitting behind us with a child about our DS 2 at the time age. They were talking to each other, mine in English and theirs in Spanish. They were chatting it up and not understanding each other. My DS had a Simba doll and the only thing both of them understood was "Simba." It was neat to see the interaction - goes to show that it really is a small world after all. :)

We once road CoP and they were working on it..in the final scene where the family is celebrating New Years, here are two maintenance guys with tool boxes working on Grandma with show going on. She was partially undressed and it appeared they were working on her arm...people were howling with laughter as the sound track was playing normally...I think they opened the gate up before they supposed to admit people.

DH and I were on Test Track in 1999 when the hurricane closed the Disney parks for the 1st time in history. Just as the car rushes towards the wall and it opens up and you fly outside, the rain REALLY started to come down! It was pelting us SO hard it hurt. They did not have time to stop the car. It was still going very fast but the rain was making the tires slip all over the place. I was nervous but we made it back ok:)
