What's Your Biggest Pet Peeve at Disney World?

My biggest pet peeve? Sitting by one of those excited families that you KNOW is this has been their first day at disney and you know it's YOUR last day. :sad2:

I forgot about cell phones. We just got back from WDW and were at HM in the Stretching Room. The spiel starts and someones cell phone rings. The gentleman (used loosely) answers his phone and talks during the ENTIRE pre-show. Unbelievable. At least he wasn't loud, but I can't believe he had the audacity to answer and talk.

I agree, my 6 year old somehow managed to walk the park all on his own. We went in April for 3 days and we were on the move ALL DAY. We hit parks at opening and didn't return until 10-11 at night. No stroller needed. When we went 2 years ago (he was 4 for the mathmatically challenged) we rented a stroller at AK, only because it's so much more walking and so HOT (it was August). But he managed all the other parks without one.

For 3 days Yes any kid can walk around, but after the 4th or 5th day -the kids are beat - I got my 5 & 8 year old a stroller for Epcot on the 4th day because they were tired and tired kids are NO FUN!! ITs my vacation too!!!You don't know if the family has been there for 10 days and the kids just can't walk anymore. No child should have to walk 50 miles without a stroller or be call UNFIT. Getting the stroller on the 4th day made the 5th day (walking) possible.

Uh...the majority of the public are non-smokers, why must we suffer because you can't read a map or are too tired to walk to the designated smoking area? Many people(including myself) wear contact lenses. If you don't smoke or aren't used to being around smoke, it will TEAR UP your eyes. I'm talking tears running down your face, and you eyes itch and are red the rest of the day. Also, the smoke also stops me, my mom, my dad, and my sister up. Uh, not to mention that everytime I inhale YOUR cigarette smoke, I am more likely to get cancer. Now, just a note so you personally aren't offended, I use "you" as smokers in general. Also, I do appreciate when smokers do to the designated smoking areas. I would like to thank all that do, but, they are sometimes poorly positioned. And I personally can't wait until smoking in public is illegal.

I just thought I would point out that I don't smoke, never have. My husband does. I also wear contact lenses and being in a crowded smoke filled room such as a bar is unbearable. However, in a place with wide open spaces like WDW, that isn't a problem. Again, I've never seen anyone smoking in a queue, a crowd waiting for a parade, or any other small enclosed spot of the park where you couldn't simply walk away and go somewhere else. CM's don't tolerate it. My DH was scolded once by a CM for moving ten feet away from the smoking area when I asked him a question.

I'm not condoning breaking the rules and smoking outside the designated spots. However, I will disagree with anyone who insinuates that the smoking areas are at all convenient or easy to find, even with a map. That is the reason I am suggesting why many smokers probably break that rule.

I agree with the other poster that we get the picture that many have zero tolerance for smoking and believe that they are holier than thou, above all toxicity because they choose not to. However, I also find it absurd to illegalize smoking in large outdoor spaces where there are plenty of places to get away from it. Of all the chemicals and smog floating in the atmosphere every day we walk out of the house, I doubt that passing an occasional smoker outside at Disney is going to do any more harm than the environmental contaminants you breathe in every day.

As an example, last year at MNSSHP we were able to get spots right on the rope at the parade. There was a family behind us with 3 girls, we let the kids move ahead of us with our daughter so they could see.

Thank you!! --- That is very nice!! I do the same for the little ones too. I would also do it for Adults who are shorter then me too-- the parade is there for EVERYONE to enjoy. It doesn't hurt to let smaller people in front of you, in fact you can enjoy the parade a little bit more knowing you spread pixie dust!!!!!

At the parade, I find it extremely annoying when children are forced to sit behind adults because "they got htere first" :confused3

what impact is it on me having kids in front of me.
:rotfl2:

I know a lot of people that take "adults only" trips to Disney.
The last thing I want ... is you to shove your kids into my personal space.
I'm at Disney trying to forget about child-care for a few days:drinking1

The whole point, is to have some fun and get away from the kids, after years of always putting the kids 1st

I left my kids at home, and "NO" I don't want to watch yours, even if its only for 15minutes :lmao:

My biggest pet peeves are already thoroughly covered. However, another that really annoys me is the fact that people feel the need to throw coins into everything that has water. WHY? A wishing fountain, I can understand. But does the aesthetic and themeing of every single pool of water have to be ruined by a big pile of coins in the bottom?
I have to second this. It is truly sad to see the AKL's Christmas display littered with coins year after year. I'll never understand why people feel the need to throw money at it, not to mention the fact that it breaks the delicate sugar structures. :confused3

At least you can get away with this. Us folks that don't have children just shouldn't be there according to some. :rotfl2:

My pet peeve is the dozens of times I've had to wait to board Disney buses or have been delayed in the ride line for all those fat people on the mobility scooters. I'm sure there are people with legitimate disabilities but the disability I notice the most are people who are 200-300 pounds overweight. Also, they always seem to have a large entourage with them so not only do they take up 3 seats on the bus with their machine but 10 more seats for the people accompanying them.

I hate meal plans.

I dont use them, but everyone else does apparently. I cant get into any restaurant anymore. We were at Epcot on Sat and EVERY sitdown restaurant was "booked solid" for the entire evening. We werent even allowed to wait.

They might as well go ahead and use regular reservations in that case.

And what they do now are somehow not 'regular reservations'? :confused3

(Although, yes, we did have to consult a map sometimes, but the off-the-beaten-path smoking areas are often some of the prettiest spots in the parks.)
Eh, well maybe not that one outside MouseGears... on the other hand, it IS shaded (usually) when it's hot out, and covered when it's raining :)

The Dining Plan has made the table service restaurants more popular. It used to be easier to get an ADR at the last minute or a couple of months before but now it's difficult.
I think except for small, really popular venues, it's not a problem. Why? Monday night, a mere 32 days before I arrive, I was able to get new ADRs and change around some of the ones I already have. And yes, at the same time I cancelled the ones I won't be using :teeth: in case that comes up as a peeve later in this thread. Regarding your December ADRs, I'd suggest calling every few weeks. I think they open more ADRs as the dates approach - example, when I originally tried to get Coral Reef, back in April, the latest dinner time available was 5:20; a few weeks later, I called and was able to get the same night at a much more reasonable (for me) 8:30

I have two significant pet peeves that I see at Disney. I will start with the staement that like it or not, Disney is a place designed for children.
I have to disagree. Fantasyland was designed for children; Disneyland and Walt Disney World were designed for EVERYONE.

I was actually thinking that SAME thing when we were there in May and saw the $3000 worth of coins in the line for EE. Apparently they have a small pool set up in the middle of queue but because of the drought there was no water in it...people were still throwing money into it! All I could do is wonder....
Maybe they were wishing for rain?

Looks like we are both misreading one another's posts. Just wanting to let you know we all aren't out there trying to infect our horrible addition into others!
I quit smoking almost ten months ago - but I will occasionally intentionally enter a smoking area, explain that I quit but miss it, and ASK the smokers to exhale in my direction. Any chance you'll be there at the end of September?

If you mean me :), that wasn't my intention; I really did just mean ask me, I can tell you (I think) every smoking area in the Magic Kingdom, almost every one in Epcot, most of 'em in MGM and at least three in Animal Kingdom :teeth:

People who swear and curse at WDW... I've only heard it a few times but each time I had been appalled!! There is no need to use the F-word at Disney. At a smoky bar - ok. In line for It's A Small World - not ok! :rotfl:

Does this count during the RnRC takeoff?? (if so, I'm in a little trouble..) :scared:

I gotta say, that's an interesting (and outrageously judgmental) peeve, considering this quote in your signature. Just FYI: obesity IS a disability; you don't have the SLIGHTEST idea why any person needs an ECV, nor is it your concern; there are PLENTY of overweight people WALKING at the theme parks; there are plenty of non-overweight people using ECVs; the ECV or wheelchair HAS to use the space of three seats in order to be secured safely (unless you'd like one to fall over on you when the bus goes around a corner?); and those ten other people are ENTITLED to seats on Disney transportation - just as you are.

I can't believe no one has mentioned my biggest pet peeve yet. And I am sure that it is so evident that many of you just take it for granted.

The OBVIOUS biggest pet peeve that should be on everyone's list is that DisneyWorld is not near the SW portion of Fort Worth Texas!

Come on people, it was pretty obvious.

:teeth:  :bitelip:

WRONG! They need it to be in the central metroplex. Just get rid of a few pesky places like Coppell, Grapevine... the airport? (we wouldn't need an airport if WDW was there!)

That's a hot one. Obese people do have one disability that I'm aware. It's the inability to push themselves away from the dinner table They certainly do not have any disability when it comes to putting their hand to their mouth
