What's Your Biggest Pet Peeve at Disney World?

People who go to the happiest place in the world, and STILL find something to complain about.

3. People who dont make sure the toilet flushes when they are done.

That's my #1 pet peeve everywhere.

And yes, some people complain too much, but the title of the thread is "pet peeves." My suggestion to those who don't want to hear others complain would be to avoid said thread. No one is perfect.

The most irritating thing is when your waiting at the resort for the bus when up comes 1 wheelchair accompanied by 6-7-8 even 10 other people and they all go to the rear door to get on with the wheel chair, while the other hundred people are waiting in line to board. This is the most irritating thing there is.

I must admit this is my biggest pet peeve. It's worse getting a bus back to the resort. I am a kind and understanding person but when I'm hot, tired, and with aching feet, I'm just not at my best and can feel pretty annoyed. Especially when it happens over and over. I wish I didn't get annoyed but I do, and I'm sure a lot of other people do too.
At Pop Century one busy morning, after about 4 times of this, a bus driver had an ECV group wait. I guess Disney does track this somewhat to avoid frustrating people too much.

Of course, I don't say anything because my second biggest pet peeve is people who take the magic out of WDW by complaining, being rude, or inappropriate! :wizard: (Well, and because I do realize that nobody's purposely delaying my turn on the bus :) )

I have to say that my pet peeve is also with people in wheelchairs that don't need them. I hate nothing more than watching some young kid go straight to the front of the line, and then bounce right out of the wheelchair to the next awaiting doonbuggie...ugh!!!!
Most of the lines are wheelchair accessible, so people with wheelchairs are waiting in the same lines with everyone else.

And, your example of "some young kid go straight to the front of the line, and then bounce right out of the wheelchair to the next awaiting doonbuggie" is not something that people boarding in the regular boarding area can see. Because of the moving walkway and the way that you walk in the dark narrow 'funnel' to the "normal" boarding area at Haunted Mansion, people using wheelchairs or ECVs miss the first part of the attraction (the stretching room) and board at the exit (where no one will see them "go straight to the front of the line and bounce into a doonbuggy").

When we ride Haunted Mansion with DD, we wait in the regular line until the wheelchair chain just before the turnstiles where the line enters the building. At that point, we have to wait for a CM to come and let us into the chained off area. Once there, we usually have to park DD's wheelchair and wait about 10 minutes right outside the exit before we are brought to the exit to board.

My pet peeve would have to be people that think we have no rights at WDW because we are not there with children. DH and I are in our mid forties and we have the same rights as everyone else. People try to shove their kids in front of you in lines because "You don't have any children with you." SO!!! Do they do that with every single person they see that doesn't have a child with them? I am sure I will get flamed by someone that sees it just that way.

Agreed!

Tour Groups from Brazil, full of rich pampered teens that think they are above the rules......BUT only come off looking like sub-human jerks, and leave an appalling impression of what life must be like in Brazil.

See a rule you don’t like? “No Speaky the English?”

Fine, be proud that you have only proved that Brazil has raised the worst privileged children in the entire world. :thumbsup2

yes but can you walk in a straight line or not stop in front of me suddenly. oh i'm sorry i'm suppose to watch were you and everyone else are walking . :furious: :furious:

This is precisely why I am wearing my flame suit! I forgot it is proper stroller etiquette to sever my achilles tendons, and then glare and swear at me as I hobble out of your way. Strollers were invented to part crowds like Moses at the Red Sea. Oh, yes, that's right, because you are pushing a wheeled contraption manners are no longer required and niether is your sense of sight. Shoot if only poor old Ray Charles had a stroller...maybe he would have made something of himself! Heck all those fools training seeing eye dogs could save themselves the bother!

I hate meal plans.

I dont use them, but everyone else does apparently. I cant get into any restaurant anymore. We were at Epcot on Sat and EVERY sitdown restaurant was "booked solid" for the entire evening. We werent even allowed to wait.

They might as well go ahead and use regular reservations in that case.

These people make ADRs. What does that have to do with the meal plan?

People with strollers. I know that not everytime a stroller runs into someone that its their fault, but if they are the ones with the stroller, they should take more care in operatiing it. :moped:

One thing that I hate, that we deal with ALL the time is ANNOYING, SELF-IMPORTANT guest

That sums up my pet peeve in one sentence fragment. All the other behaviors we all object to have their origin in the ANNOYING SELF-IMPORTANT GUEST. The ASIG doesn't wait in line, their time is much too valuable, they can just come in anywhere they want. If they want to sit in the center of the row-well, of course-the view is obviously better there so it doesn't matter about others behind them. They don't need to pick a spot in advance for the parade, they can just push another group out of the way when it starts, especially if that other group has no children. Disney is for THEIR children after all. Since they are so important, everyone else needs to be aware of their needs and move out of the way of their stroller or ECV-and it doesn't matter if their kids are too old for a stroller or if they are actually disabled. They need those wheeled items in case they get tired. After all, the ASIG worked hard and paid a LOT of money for this vacation, so they are allowed to do whatever makes them happy. WDW was placed in Florida for them, anyone else that happens to be there is really just in the way.

also children who feel the need to sit on every gaurd rail/ chain in every line.. and the parents who allow this behavior

This bothers me so much, because I know what can happen.
I left my dc with my dh and dsis for a short time to go on a ride at KD in VA. Got off the ride to see my dd being rushed off by security to first aid. She lay limp in dh's arms. That trip to the park ended there with us taking off for the hospital. Seems dd sat on a guard rail and fell off hitting her head.

My biggest peeve:

Waiting in line to get on the bus. A family with a stroller waits until they are right up to the door and next to get on the bus. THEN starts to take all of Jr's items out of the stroller, fold up the stroller and organize their things and finally decides to get on the bus.

Come on now, you saw the bus pull up, you can start to get the stuff out while you walking. Or actually do it and have it folded up while waiting for the bus to come.

And then there is the dad ( its usually the dad ) who sets his folded up stroller ON THE SEAT beside him on the bus ride back to the hotel.. you know.. when there are 50 people crammed into the aisle, trying to hold on to their kids while standing up on a moving bus. While everyone else with a small child is moving them to their laps, like I always do, so more people can sit down.. and they just sit there and look at you while the stroller wastes a seat. grrrrr

Here are a few I can think of:

* Guests who get immediately snippy at the CMs working at quick service food areas. We were there last week and at least three times I saw guests get upset because of a wrong drink or a CM not knowing the guest substituted fries for chips. The CMs work hard and with the free dining the QS areas are VERY busy. Cut them a break and be nice; I seriously doubt the CM was malicious in not putting your root beer on the tray.

* Mentioned already, but would it hurt to have an order ready when getting to the front of the line at a QS? I saw so many familiies get to the front and then turn to each other and say "What would you like?". AARRGGHH!

* Leaving Disney and going to the Orlando Airport. Nothing against the Orlando Airport, it's just that leaving the magic of Disney and then being dumped at a generic airport is a little draining. It's like there needs to be a buffer zone between leaving the parks and going back to the airport so you can adjust a little. You know, maybe a place where service is half-magical before going to the zero-magic of the airport.

ahhh let me see:
leaving the empty roll of Toilet Paper while you are doing your business
at home.(oopps sorry personal problem at home. lololol)

1. NON ENGLISH SPEAKING GROUPS CUTTING IN LINE"S.
if it were in there country I would probably be Hung up in the Town
Square for cutting in line!!
2. ahh the never ending stroller rammers.
3. NON DEODORANT PEOPLE. (usaully it only costs's $2.50 at WALMART)
4. Walking 6 people wide all in the same family on Main Street. and stopping
when ever they want.

Another, 10 year old kids in strollers, it drives me absolutly nuts. There was a whole thread on this debate and people claimed that it's fine because these 7, 8, 9+ year old children get tired of walking around such the big parks. Well, teenagers get tired too, should I be pushed around in a stroller? No? Well people over the age of 10 get tired, too.

What difference does it make to you? :confused3 I agree that older people get tired, but the thing is an adult can choose to leave. A child 10 or under probably does not get to make that decision.

A healthy 10 year old should be able to "do Disney" without a stroller! If they can't-they probably aren't getting enough regular exercise at home either!

Oh my, I tried so hard to stop my kids from doing this, or swinging the chains/ropes. They seem to be obsessed with these things. Not just my kids, but all the kids seem to just love swinging the darn things. I felt so bad for a man sitting down waiting for Spectromagic. His head was too close to the rope. I managed to keep my kids from touching most of the time, but a family a few feet away was oblivious to their two kids swinging the darn thing and it kept hitting the guy in the head. He finally had to say something to the parents. Oh well, it is Disney so I guess we have to deal with kids.

Smoking in the nonsmoking areas! Rudeness!
Time flies too fast at WDW!

In defense of ECV drivers, my MIL and FIL rented them on our last trip - one for mobility trouble and the other has heart problems - they had a hard time driving them. Sometimes inexperience causes people to be bad drivers, not meanness. My in-laws were mortified everytime they hit something. Thank goodness they did not hit people! But not apologizing for hitting someone is just rude!

Have you ever tried to locate some of the smoking areas at WDW? Like you said, time flies too fast and you could literally spend an hour trying to locate and get to the nearest smoking area. Now I don't smoke but my husband does and trust me, I've had to deal with this every time we go. We are considerate and abide by the rules even if it means we have to walk forever to find a smoking area but I can see why others probably don't make the effort. In my opinion, Disney should have a few more accessible and easier to find smoking areas to accommodate everyone.

Last but not least, the parks are huge. I would think that if someone near you is smoking you could easily move yourself away from them. Problem solved. Heck, I would rather smell cigarette smoke any day of the week than the stench of all day body odor on the closed and crowded monorail at park closing. :lmao:
