Whats wrong with rollercoasters?

Thanks to all who have replied.

When I said a coaster park I was thinking more in terms of thrill rides like ToT and SM and RnR. What woudl be wrong with a park mostly devoted to those type of rides & attractions? You could still have shows and parades and some toned down attractions.

WDW is a business and I think that we sometimes get into a idealistic mode and think that everything thing needs to be as it always was. If WDW did not change with the times, no nobody get mad at me here, in MHO it would be in real financial trouble and the share holders of DIS would be on a rampage for change.

A thrill themed park woudl fit in great with the others, every park does not have to be for everyone. As I said before I don't care for AK and might not visit next time. That does not mean there is anything wrong with it, it just does not suit my taste.

As for the statement about little kids, many many little kids love thrill rides and roller coasters, my nieces, 7 &9, ride all of the big coasters at 6F and my teenagers don't like them.

I think we need to be open minded about expansion, nothing will ever equal the first time I visited Disneyland, but times change and a great company has to change with them, and DIS is a great company.

NO one is allowed to get mad at me if you don't agree because it is a Small World after all!!

I'm in the boat with those who think a 5th park with coasters
would not be the best idea for Disney. There is so much
opportunity for incorporating coasters/thrill rides into the
existing parks, many great ideas already mentioned on this
board. I'd like to even see an "8th land" added to the
Magic Kingdom dedicated to the Villians, which could have
some great thrill attractions.

Being from Ohio, with Cedar Point, Six Flags Ohio,
and Kings Island, we have some of the greatest
coasters on the planet, but these parks lack one
big thing that Disney does best, THEMING attractions.

I agree that WDW probably doesn't need a 5th park. Back in 1993 before Boardwalk was built, the intention was for that to be a Coney Island type of amusement park, with such traditional rides as a Ferris Wheel, Wooden Rollercoaster, swings, and the like. Well, as you can see, the only rollercoaster at that site, is the Keister Koaster that slides you into the resort's main pool.

Many of the existing parks could benefit from new e ticket attractions, and I am waiting to see the direction that the new Horizons will take when it opens in 2002.

Some suggestions would be to have Switzerland in WS, as originally planned, and build a new and improved Matterhorn to reside there.

In AK, what happened to the awesome looking wooden style rollercoaster so prevelent in the original ads? It would fit beautifully into the atmosphere in Dinoland, complete with a Dinosaur theme.

I agree that something should be done to utilize the space where 20.000 Leagues Under the Sea used to reside. A fantasy type e ticket ride would be ideal there!

As for MGM, they are riding pretty high with the e ticket rides they already have...they are definitely ahead of the pack!

My only hope, is that in incorporating new e ticket items and trying to appease all of the thrill seekers ( of whom, I am one), that the Imagineers do not loose sight of the Disney magic that guests have come to expect. That, ultimately, is what Disney is all about!

I agree, AK is more of an animal reserve then a park. If they had more rides like CTX or an animal themed RnR I could be a great park but right now the best thing there is the atmosphere. The only question is; would the noise from rollercoasters annoy the animals?
