Ok, so out of curiosity, I have to ask (and sorry if this has been answered recently) Why does everyone love Boma so much? We LOVE Cape May Cafe, but I just don't want to overdo the buffets (for fear of gaining too much weight in disney lol). I think our love for cape may is because we love seafood! But I have heard so many people say that Boma is the way to go! What food is good there? What is served that is unusual but is also really yummy? We already have our ADR's, but maybe for our next trip in the future we should change it up to Boma:)

We always eat at different restuarants each time we go EXCEPT Boma. It is our repeat every time we go to WDW. We lived in the Middle East for several years and we love the spices and different types of food choices Boma has that reminds us of our time abroad. We are a family with ages 7 - 47 and we all LOVE Boma.

I go to Vegas a lot and have been to some exceptional buffets and Boma was the only buffet in Disney that comes close (haven't tried Cape May yet though.) I guess it's because the food was different from what you usually find at a buffet.

We love the breakfast buffet! We'll even go twice in a week, if we can. I love their juice and a big bowl of pap with brown sugar.

I don't get the love for Boma, we ate there a lot last trip (stayed at AKL) and I didn't see the need to go back this trip, it wasn't anything special to me. JMO

I'd go just for the soups.:lovestruc However, I also like just about everything else on the buffet too. It's just different from all the other buffets down there. Then again we also love their breakfast buffet too. I go to WDW several times a year and Boma is one of the few restaurants I repeat every trip.

In fact, I'll be eating there next Thursday. Uh Oh! What the heck am I still doing on the DIS today? I'm flying out at 7:00am CT in the morning and for some reason can't get in the mood to finish my packing:rotfl:

I think some people find the offerings at Boma a little unusual compared to other buffets on property, but I wouldn't call the food overly exotic or ethnic by any means, just a bit different. If you are a little adventurous in your eating, it's worth a try. Where else can you sample watermelon rind salad or bobotie on property?

We ate there in 2007 and it was okay but would probably not eat there again. The food was just not to our taste but the atmosphere and the people were good.

We ate there last year as well and didn't particularly enjoy it. It just wasn't for us and we are not that picky as far as eating goes. I did like the 1900 Park Faire and Crystal Palace though. Chef Mickey's is just ehh. I would say try it, there will be things that you will eat, but there are also a tad bit more adventurous things as well. Enjoy your trip! :)

were eating there next thursday too for dinner(6:20pm)

cant wait to experience something different

We went to Boma b/c we wanted to see AKL. We had no idea what the restaurant would be like. WE LOVED IT! :thumbsup2

If it had not been a buffet, I would have been scared of the descriptions of the food...coconut curry seafood chowder. But since it was a buffet, I tried a bit....WOW! a whole new taste sensation :woohoo:.

Much of the food was just like that...not something I would be brave enough to order b/c of the name, but very tasty. There was also plenty of more basic dishes like salmon, steak etc. just with a slightly different array of spices. There were 5 of us including 2 boys (10 & 8) and they were easily satisfied as well.

We still routinely make the Boma recipe for Banana bread pudding. Yummy!

I don't like buffets either b/c it's usually about quantity. But at Boma, the buffet is great b/c you get to sample a wide array of foods.

Boma is the only buffet in WDW that we NEVER miss. I made those ADRs for October right after booking the air! The food there is just plain GOOD:woohoo:
I have had a lot of other buffets there, (including Cape May) and they all seemed really boring and uninspired compared to Boma. Not worth the $$ or calories.

IMHO, Boma was ...... okay. I can't rant and rave that "It was HORRIBLE" or "We will never eat there again!" because I didn't really feel that strongly about it all. The food was good, the restaurant was okay, the service was good, the hotel is beautiful. I don't think of myself as a picky eater and thought I got a good sampling of items on the buffet. Having said that, I've eaten there and don't feel the need to go there again. But then of course, your mileage may vary!

We love spending time exploring DAKL and dining @ Boma...it's a must-do for us every trip. The food is very good & different from most anything else you'll find. My kids are picky, yet they love going there & always find lots of choices they like. Service has always been top notch. We mostly partake of buffets while in WDW and this one is just different than all the others.

Boma's food selection was fine for a buffet. We didn't find anything in particular that had a wow factor. The restaurant had a terrible time in seating guest within a reasonable ADR window...easily waiting over 40 minutes for our table. Many Boma diners are from outside the AKL. The restaurant also lacks sound reducing panels/decor, so this place can be very loud. Overall, Boma is fine to dine at if you are staying at the AKL, but otherwise we select other restaurants closer to our resort or that more closely align to our touring plans.

We haven't tried Boma yet, but we've eaten at its next door neighbor, Jiko, and had a great experience. I've found that a lot of people highly regard all of the restaurants at AKL and I think a big part of it is due to the fact that you just can't find restaurants that serve African food just anywhere, so it's a novelty and unique experience, as opposed to other restaurants where you have more similar things available at home.

About three years ago I went with a friend to Boma's for dinner. I was only about 17 years old at the time and not as adventurous in my food choices as I am currently.

I still tried a lot of new things that night. However, my friend and I both left unimpressed and didn't feel like any of the African inspired dishes tasted good. The zebra domes were delicious but that was about it.

I don't really understand all the hype about Boma to be honest. I guess I'd have to try it agin but with all the places I know that I truly do like and all the other places I'd love to try I'm not sure I'll get back there for a while.
